Ok.. Can this phone play flac files?
Hm, charging is quite fast eh? I'm impressed.
*
Flac files - definitely
You have the phone , test yourself. Why the need even to ask such a question?

Hi, can someone enlighten me as to whether the usb jig workable on note 2?
Actually, what is the usefulness of using usb jig as compared to method in xda forum to flash the counter to zero?
*
Only can used to boot to download mode
It cannot remove flash counters

From the ROM detail, basically it just optimize the stock ROM.

Will try it tomorrow and report back after few days of usage. biggrin.gif

Edited:
Wow, OMEGA look more promising. Encounter any problem with it so far? rclxms.gif
*
If you are new to android I suggest you stick to stock rom. I can tell you this phone stock rom is the best rom unlike other Samsung phones
I have tested most of the custom Rom n seriously I still go back to stock rom
If you do not want touchwiz ui just replace it with other launcher eg Nova launcher. The Samsung spen n other default Samsung features will still be there. Only you wont have Samsung proprietary Widgets available

Do not select wipe data during flashing. Just select wipe cache partition and dalvik cache will do

*
Both roms i never faced any FC
I prefer ARHD as Omega is too fancy for my liking - great for those who like theming

QUOTE(alexng2208 @ Nov 21 2012, 09:02 AM)
is it possible to change to another ROM without full wipe?

just to reflash ROM will it remove all user data / apps / media?
*
YES , I'd say 50% of the time is OK again depends on what rom you want to flash. Moving from same eversion eg 4.1.1 to another 4.1.1 TW based is quite OK but moving from TW 4.1.1 to say 4.1.1 CM 10, AOPK - than advisable to wipe data
There is no hard fast rule. Moving from say 4.1.1 to 4.1.2 advisable to wipe data. Try yourself
If you faced phone fail to reboot or faced several force closures after reboot, than boot back to recovery n wipe data
Do always do a nandroid backup before flashing any new rom. You can also use titanium backup to backup all your apps/data and it can also be used to extract and reinstall apps from any nandroid backup

Woohoo...

Thank you!!! smile.gif i'm itching to try out the best ROM out there but I'm always afraid of having to do a backup and restore of everything just in case the back up isn't working as it should...

I have yet to try the ARHD 4.2 though. Benny888, what ROM are you on?
*
I am now back on stock rom ( wannam deodexed rom LJ3)
I have tried several custom roms and none can match the stock rom . I always say this is the ONLY samsung phone i am most happy using the stock rom

My recommendations in order of preference :

TW based rom : Hawkish Premium v2, Android HD v4, Omega v6
AOPK/CM rom: Jellybam, CM 10 rom nightly by nebkat
LEAN rom: Hypernote 0.4, monx0101

Amazing read!

I love the ranking of the ROMS.. smile.gif a good guide for newbies noob like me try out the roms based on your recommendations.

Just one last question, how / where do you get wannam deodexed rom lj3?
*
The XDA link no longer there. This is his website link : http://wanamlite.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=10611

He has infact a deodexed version of XALJ7 , a later stock version. I have stay away from this version due to some bugs on messaging which does not show the contact names

I thought Galaxy Note II Corning glass is scratch resistant, but today I see some scratch on my phone screen! I put in my pocket with no key or coin but it still scratched.
*
It is scratch resistant only to knife, scissors, screwdrivers, keys but NOT to particles harder than it such as SAND
Probably you have traces of sand in your pockets

i can flash it using the phone only right via the CWM recovery
*
All official roms are in tar format after extract - only can use Odin in PC to flash it ( this will remove root/CWM) or use Mobile Odin in phone ( this will maintain root/CWM)

Benny, this 4.1.2 will wipe off everything right? smile.gif
Well, it can't fit into the flip case. smile.gif I have to use it separately.
Let me search and PM you later. smile.gif
*
My previous experience upgrading roms through the downloads at sammobile.com DO NOT wipe anything . If done through Odin in PC it will wipe root/CWM. If done through mobile odin, root/CWM will maintain
Anyway i am still downloading it
It is still a good practice to do a nandroid backup n titanium backup before upgrading. Restoring stuffs usually less than 10 minutes job only

Thanks. smile.gif Then, I will do it tonight.
I haven't bought the Ti Backup Pro and yesterday only read into it to know how it actually works and backs up my stuffs.
Still don't really understand on that but will reread on it again. I saw it should be restored to my SD card right?
Hopefully the restore is easy. smile.gif
Haven't tried transferring such a big file yet.

Cut a bit then OK already. smile.gif

Titanium Backup is a MUST buy app for those who like to flash rom
It is the only app that i paid another 4 times more to the developer to encourage him in its early period of development
It is features laden and it has improved vastly since it started about 3 years ago
You can select to backup to external SDcard ( at preferences/backup folder) - create a titaniumbackup folder first at external sdcard. By default it backup to internal memory
You can even now use it to extract apps apk from nandroid backup

The free version has limited functions, eg you can only restore app one by one and you do not have batch choices election

YES you can transfer as long as your external Sdcard is exFAT format and not fat32 format
If you cannot than claim warranty for your card

QUOTE(jern25 @ Nov 21 2012, 11:26 AM)
finally.so maxis plan is better? in term of coverage and speed?
*
My experience with Digi past 3 years download speeds max 1000 kbps and average is only 600-800 kbps
That time i paid RM 68 for 3GB data
I have switched to Maxis RM 75 for 3.5 GB ( cheaper than Digi ) and minimum i get is 2000 kbps ( 3-4 ties faster) and getting 5000-8000 kbps is common ( 7 to 10 times faster)
You will value Maxis more especially if you go to ulu areas where Digi is non existent . My last trip to the East Coast all the way to Kota Baru, Maxis was spot on even in all the ulu kampung areas
DIGI is only cheaper if you buy phone with their plan but what is use of a cheaper phone if their download speeds is so terribly poor

Theoretically you can do it and if you cannot it is definitely a card problem
Even in the XDA link some users has reported success doing it

Have successfully upgraded my rom to official 4.1.2 {N7100XXDLJ2} using Mobile Odin in phone
This time i noted even though i choose not to wipe data, the phone is wipe clean. This was different from my previous experiences changing roms , probably this is due to a newer version 4.1.2
Restoring back all my stuffs just took under 10 mins from Titanium Backup
