OFFICAL PRICE IN MALAYSIA ANNOUNCED - RM1999

Nokia has just announced the Lumia 920, its first and flagship Windows Phone 8 smartphone. The Lumia 920 comes with a PureView camera, a 4.5-inch display called Nokia PureMotion HD+. It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor. As leaked earlier, the Lumia 920 also supports wireless charging.

Nokia is talking about low-light photography with the new PureView camera and promises no blur in photographs shot in low-light without flash by capturing five to ten times more camera by using a floating lens technology. The floating lens also helps while shooting video by stabilizing motion blur while shooting videos.

The Lumia 920 will obviously come with Nokia Maps, Drive and Transport. Nokia is also talking about City Lens, an augmented reality app. The augmented reality aspect will also work on Nokia Maps.

The PureMotion HD+ display promises blur free scrolling with higher refresh rates. The 4.5-inch curved glass display is also being touted as the best display with an advanced Clear Black display.

The Lumia 920 comes with a 2,000 mAh battery, which is the biggest battery Nokia has ever used on a smartphone. It comes with a “Fatboy Pillow” wireless charger, which is based on the Qi industrial standard.

Engadget says Nokia is using different type of plastic for the 920:

So which one is better to choose? Nokia Lumia 820 or this Nokia Lumia 920??

the first Windows Phone ever that steals my attention! I think Lumia 920 will be a phone killer! Loved the OIS! with only 8mp pictures (which is quite large and suitable for the daily snap) OMG I love it!

million dollar question on the OIS..... lots of ppl are disappointed noticing what happen on 0:27sec of the video. An explanation on why OIS and handheld so big difference.

The guy is on a blardy VAN. Instead of a bicycle.

I am also disappointed the confusion is the entire video it shows the guy recording from the bike but reflection show it was from the van

worse of all ppl are suspeciting it isnt taken on the Nokia at all have a look at the pic.... some said it is on a RED camera.

Any real pictures/videos of Lumia 920 in gray? I can only find it hidden behind a few other Lumias in the promotional picture...

the phone was great itself.... just this false commercial may spoil the whole marketing campaign.

They seriously need to fire the marketing head. It's not like others were not cheating with their camera shot but please don't do until exposed like that. So much money spent promoting Pureview and ruined in a single night.

those picture are just too good to be true but we're not so sure before we even get our hands on that device. For sure there's lighting involved in the images, not too strong just softly touch the skins.

20 years ago can keep quiet la, nowadays the entire internet and blogosphere will know your sh*t in less than an hour, Nokia have no choice but to apologize, otherwise sure got lawsuits. actually, the thing is not about using fake photos in advertising, it's standard every companies are doing it, it's a norm, but Nokia screwed up becoz they didn't tell people clearly in the ads about the footage are not real but enhanced (small notice to accompany the ads).

The OIS is insane! Love it!

I think it's a proper thing that people really use. It's funny as well... Like fake but still fun.

About OIS, it's better than having none at all. Still, when I see the video, it feels like when the phone shake, of course the view on screen is moving, but when he press record, it's not (not as bad). There's are still some mystery to it.

Nokia having take the OS out of equation really had more time to tinker with hardware especially camera and wireless charging.

i dont know whose idea was it to fake the video ad and images. i agree its wrong but it is still a very good phone and camera. aperture f2.0, OIS and pureview combined.

Sifu u don't understand. Exmor sensor like on Sony phones and htc one x takes amazing low light but with the problem with all this they do not have details. So without actual photos to analyze we can't really tell.

So if there no detail there nothing much to wow about because before this Nokia phones sux at low light so with this float lens and OIS it's just an update when other manufacturers already have similar technology.

Notice Nokia say how amazing the OIS on video is but like verge said they don't allow verge to try video recording with ois so conclusion it's just Nokia presenting the technology no actual real device to proof.

Like Nokia 808 pureview they actually release real photos shot by 808 pureview.

808 was marketed as camera first phone capability second. If you are selling a camera - naturally people will expect you to show the photos

you mean no actual samples of photos taken using the phone with OIS mode on? Was the displayed phones even in their final form? If they were finished products i dont see why they wont let the masses to play with them. If they were indeed non finished products, i understand why no actual product shot was provided.

So means we are beta tester again, how can announce a device when its not finish. do u see iPhone do that? Even Samseng do not do that.

The photos we thought are real end up fake and the video we thought are real also fake . There only 1 video showing OIS and it's shakey. Don't forget during the presentation that video is not hand held its on a stabilizer

Checked the video... too bad still not convincing for the ultimate night performance of the L920... those advertise model shots are just "too far" better then the actual L920 can do.
The question here is not how good L920 camera capability compare with others major devices but rather its real camera night performance against the its own so call "promotion ad"... what really dissapoint most of the ppls out there is that the "first impression" from the OIS video as well as the Still Image ads and say "WOW!! Nice!!" then later only found "damn felt like been cheated" on the first impression... so how you gonna fix that dissapointment???

Now wanna do the damage coverage it's already too late... not really buying the so call "yeah it's best among others smartphone camera" because that's NOT WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR!!

Please check the video when he capturing the image... i bet it's EXTREME high ISO and within those tiny screen already can see it's a bit blur... so how if u zoom in full then it would be noisy as hell and blur... so what big different it make compare with those P&S? any special to getting a mild blur with high ISO in any camera? so not a big deal to get an average good night capable camera phone, we want BEST and GOOD just not enough...

iphone normally launch products when they are ready to be put on shelves.

I think Nokia was forced to announce the products before other manufacturers do so that it wont appear as though they follow other manufacturers design.

See the trend. Iphone launched and after that smart phones look like iphone. copy cats ...

then nokia came out with color smart phones = now we see HTC 'following the trend". Wait until Sept 12 - the world might see the UNTHINKABLE!!!! Colorfull product ranges from Apple from smartphones to Ipod!!! The exterior of the Apple press event venue had already been painted with rainbow colors - unless Apple is having gay pride event with their product launch, they are going to launch colorful products! Soooo Apple following the trend created by Nokia? -- I know - "UNTHINKABLE" right?

Apple used to sell iPods and iPod Minis in various colours.

I just wish Nokia used matte instead of glossy for their colourful Lumia 920s. They interviewed one of the Nokia designers why they changed and all he said was because Glossy is "awesome". Like dodging the issue. If so awesome why the black and gray ones still matte?

glossy is always better because its shinny and it wont become browish after years. Matte like our old computer will become browish but just prone to damage easily.

er white Nokia goes back as early as N97 and N86, ok.

After using N9, One X and White Lumia 900, I have to say that I love the fact that Nokia provides both option for Lumia 920. I personally will go with glossy yellow, as both my N9 and One X were such a nightmare to clean from oily stains.

That's why Nokia is inconsistent. If always better, then they should use it for all colours, right? Anyway I'm not a fan of glossy because of all the smudges it easily collects.

But glossy looks cheap/plastic like a toy, and also scratches will be obvious to be seen.

I think they said the glossy surface is scratch resistance in some of the previews from Nokia world, but sure though :/

Glossy looks great on my white lumia 900, no problem and why would anyone pay attention to your phone's back? Chances that you will probably put a flipcase/cover/shield for your phone. And it doesn't look cheap plastic like some phones out there.

Like me, the phone is naked with a screen protector, scratch is very obvious on the rounded metal on the back, how about scratch on the glossy surface? not that obvious unless you slide your phone along the road.

I wonder how effective win8 manage the battery drainage. Hope it's a new-world-smart-os

YES. Matte surface tend to show oily stain on it. I'm talking through my experience of using a matte black N9, matte black One X and glossy white Lumia 900. At the very least, glossy surface allows me to just wipe the oils away without too much of a problem. Matte surface on the other hand tend to be a hit or miss. Heck, my N9 are having quite a bit of non wipeable oil stains. Truly heartbreaking.

Don't get me wrong, matte surface is probably the best one to hold and look. It just oozes premium. But practical wise, I'd go for glossy phones. Preferably those with striking color, as to mask the fingerprints.

Last last I bought the original Nokia silicon case for Lumia 900, cyan color. Looks much better IMHO.

Glad Nokia don't look so bad now. At least Nokia manage to make it thru. Seems like lumia 920 will now be the attention of the world now rather than ppl keep saying sayonara to nokia

Maybe nokia delayed the pricing for 920 and 820 to see what Apple has to offer first? Hence the dissapointment in IP5 could result in a higher price for these 2 devices. Pure guess.

Aluminium feels more premium than any kind of plastic though... kinda torn. I know the 920 will probably have a slightly better camera... but not sure if it's worth the weight.

Nokia isn't that smart. They can't even con people properly with their YouTube ads. The real reason they are delaying the 920 and 820 is because of Microsoft. Windows Phone 8 isn't even complete yet, how to announce a release date for their phones?

i don't mean release date. I mean pricing. Maybe the mistakes in their ads are all marketing gimmicks also? If its not for the mistakes will other brand users ( Android, apple) posted something on Nokia also? Would the phone receive so many attention also? Prolly nokia is so confident that their camera is that good, by creating doubts over buyers FIRST, more ppl will go and test it and more review will come and ppl will realise despite the 'cheat' the camera is still pretty much the best the market has to offer.

Im not sure bout the whole thing. despite the problems recently faced by Nokia, it is still a massively huge company and chances that they would make such noticeable mistake is not tat high.

Maybe im wrong and they are really that dumb. But everyone is twisting things around afterall.

No, not slight but a lot better. They have pureview+OIS tech for night shot. Besides, the touch screen tech. touted as puremotion HD+ is also better than Apple. Its so sensitive that even with thick grove on, it can still respond properly. It can also respond to pen, nail, key or whatever you throw on it.

Wireless charging is another plus for me, no wear and tear and don't have to worry about aligning the port properly.

The tile base main screen is also another plus as it is very easy to navigate and big enough for an average man's finger.

This is my next phone.

Only thing stopping me back from getting a Lumia is that the marketplace in Malaysia is not developed and most of the apps you gotta pay
