Try to use manual screen brightness instead of automatic, setting it to 50% or below. You can disable wifi and data connection if you're not using it that frequent, turn it on only when you need to use it.Disable all auto syncing will help as well. You can set the sleep timer below the 1min default setting, as this will off the screen earlier and safe some power.Monitor your task manager once in a while to kill off running apps and processes. Using a black background wallpaper will help save power as well because of S.AMOLED screen.

You can also boost/reduce ringtone loudness by going to the modifier "Ringtone" and change the "speaker volume" 5. save it and reboot

What is Root?
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
QUOTE
In this post, I’ll be talking about the rooting process of an Android device as far as my best knowledge allows me to. Regarding ‘root’ itself, please consult the many definitions around the internet. In short, it is a special permission granted to a user to perform low level operations on a system (like backing up your Angry Birds game data, or changing the boot animation). 'Rooting' is the process of obtaining the means to grant this permission
.
DJFoo000 has written a long post detailing everything about rooting an Android device. Read it if you are interested in learning all things about root.CLick Me

FLASHING A ROM, RADIO OR KERNEL VIA DOWNLOAD MODE USING ODIN
Odin can be used to flash image files or parts of your phone. You can flash something as simple as a boot image or a complete system. Everything is packed in a tar or tar.md5 file on your PC and flashed via Odin which is a Windows OS program.
a. Make sure you have your tar file stored on your PC.
b. Reboot your phone to Download Mode [shut down your phone, then hold down the Home + Volume DOWN Buttons and press the Power Button for about 2 seconds until a Warning screen appears. Press Volume UP to continue to Download Mode.
c. Connect your phone via usb and the first box at the top under ID:COM should turn blue and have some text in it. If you are using Download Mode on your phone for the first time then you will notice drivers being installed to use it.
d. The site or page you downloaded the file from will usually give you instructions to set Odin but if not you want to load boot/recovery/system files to the PDA location and have 'Auto Reboot' and 'F.Reset Time' ticked and nothing else.
e. Click on 'Start' to start the flash. You can see what is happening in the text box in the lower left.

Hey guys, I purchased the SGP Steinheil Curved Crystal for Galaxy S3 about a month ago from eBay and it finally arrived.
I have previously purchased a Steinheil FlexHD but the 'orange peel' effect of it was bugging the hell out of me. I was in dire need of a better SP ...Which led me to the curved crystal
What is included in the package They gave 2 pieces of the screen protector.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
I applied it using the "hinge method" with a piece of cellophane tape. Very quick and very easy. Just push out the bubbles using the included squeegee (wrap the squeegee in the microfibre cloth to prevent scratching)
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
Spotted a tiny speck of dust under the SP, the dust removal stickers came in handy
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
Overall, the application was very easy using the hinge method. Everything aligned perfectly and screen looks extremely clear as if nothing is on! There is very little 'wiggle room' for the SP. Everything is cut extremely precise, about 2mm of misalignment is enough to ruin it all up!
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
----------------------------------------
Word of advice: 1. DO NOT take off the front part of the protective film while pushing the bubbles out. It may scratch the screen protector! Only take the front part off until everything is done and applied properly 2. Wrap the squeegee with the microfibre cloth to prevent scratching!
------------------------------------------
VERDICT : The SP is very clear and smooth! It doesn't attract lots fingerprints or smudges easily. Looks as if there's not even anything applied! There are cut-outs for the earpiece, camera and home button. I really don't see why they couldn't cover the camera, but that's not a big deal for me anyway
So far, there isn't any other screen protector that covers the entire front of the S3 other than the FlexHD, which I really dislike due to the side effects (orange peel effect).
---------------------------------------
PROS : 1. Crystal clear, clarity is amazing! (believe me, this one is a top priority for me) 2. No rainbow effect 3. Cut-outs are aligned perfectly 4. No other screen protector as good as this one 5. Does not attract much fingerprints/smudges (but is NOT 100% smudge-proof!) 6. Finger glides along the surface very smoothly 7. No bubbling around the edges whatsoever! 8. FlexHD sucks compared to this.
CONS : 1. Price may be a little bit steep for some (15USD), but keep in mind that 2 pieces of screen protector are provided! 2.(UPDATE!)The screen protector is easily 'dented' using your fingernails! Be careful not to poke the screen with the screen protector on. I regret lending my phone to my friend with long nails to use. Got many dents on the screen protector. It's due to the 2H hardness rating of the SP so most likely any other SP with similar hardness will be the same!
------------------------------------------
I HONESTLY WOULD RECOMMEND THE CURVED CRYSTAL to anyone looking for full front coverage for their S3.
BUY THE CURVED CRYSTAL INSTEAD OF THE FLEXHD
It is WORTH YOUR MONEY!!
--------------------------------------------
UPDATE! After using it for a couple of weeks! (SERIOUSLY THINK TWICE BECAUSE OF THE 2H RATING OF THE SP!) [refer to CONS section]

Overall, the application was very easy using the hinge method. Everything aligned perfectly and screen looks extremely clear as if nothing is on! There is very little 'wiggle room' for the SP. Everything is cut extremely precise, about 2mm of misalignment is enough to ruin it all up!

------------------------------------------
I HONESTLY WOULD RECOMMEND THE CURVED CRYSTAL to anyone looking for full front coverage for their S3.
nice review of the SGP curve crystal SP. i"m still considering btw curve crystal or nano optics. currently i'm using a matte SP. it's good, no prob with fingerprint/smudges but clarity is really2 sucks to the max. Seem like the resolution isn't HD at all. just wondering how about the clarity of nano optics. never seen the real one applied.

I would say the matte on the screen is not as blur as most other cheap matte SPs. Clarity is pretty good. 8/10 probably

I applied it using the "hinge method" with a piece of cellophane tape. Very quick and very easy. Just push out the bubbles using the included squeegee (wrap the squeegee in the microfibre cloth to prevent scratching)

Erm... there is no other way. You could manually delete your visa from wallet each and every time you purchase.
wow... couldn't imagine doing that all the time....

It's good test ROM to see what Android 4.1 will looks like in SGS 3. As long as it doesn't cause hard brick like leaked ICS ROM for SGS 2 it should be ok.

That itself is enough to deter me from trying.

I'm sure when the official one will be rolling out in time

Not too sure as mine is not the latest OTA, but you can always opt for WidgetLocker as everything is customizable.

I'm using the PRO version and I set it to "never turn the sensor off". I felt it'll defeat its purpose for turning it off after certain defined duration.

This morning first time on this phone I got a system hang that I have to reboot. The running blh1. I suspect is the new button savior app that I just installed. But anyway I had app crash before but it never brought down android. First time since I got this phone it suddenly happened. There goes the no hang and reboot streak I been having for last 3 months

Hrmm, so it can be used without a front cover? That's pretty cool, coz the smart cover app seems to work with a casing that has a cover only.
Tried the Home Button app. Seems quite good. But what if the app doesn't allow the pull down of the notification bar? Than it wont be able to work right?

for contacts, just export to gmail contacts if you haven't done so.
for sms, you can use sms backup and restore app (doesn't support mms though)
for whatsapp, install the whatsapp app in S3 but don't open it yet. in your S, open whatsapp, go to settings, under chat preferences, click "chat history backup". after that, copy the whatsapp folder from your S to S3, then only open whatsapp in S3. it will ask you whether you want to restore from backup, say yes.

Get the flip down casing is more practical. Doesn't interfior when typing 2 hands. Camera taking is better too. And the flip cover can double as a stand on the table

But the key difference between the Steinheil Ultra series and the Curved Crystal is that the Curved Crystal has full front coverage

Mine like got 2 white dot (look like paper liquid) under the screen, some where near the power button =.= tried to slide paper through it, to remove, but it is still there. anyone can think of any item that is hard and thin that will be able to slide through the gap? its damn annoying =.=
and If I purchase apps from playstore, Can i install it on another phone? For example, I plan to buy swiftkey, Can I use the apps simultaneously on 3 phone?

i think you cant on 3 phone same time if got authentication check, plus you 3 phone on same gmail account? is it possible? i never tried so i have no idea
u buy will cheaper, cause if i buy will ship to sabah, post charge, and then i send u post charge more again, expensive, if from you to me may cost a bit more, but from seller to you cheaper, overall is better option

LOL awesome la if u share with trusted ppl, can buy n share apps under 1 account. Even so, google doesn't allow us to disable the device. I no longer own 4 of the devices on the list. Cannot remove =.=... Only good thing is, I can buy apps during launch discounts, apps that's not available for S3 yet.

generic charger with pin 2&3 shorted wins but charging current is limited internally in the GS3 to 0.9 amps. still faster than stock charger.
Conclusion; there is a mild benefit to non stock charger given pin 2&3 short but not by much. not possible to damage device or battery by delivering too much current due to device internal limits.
using GPS sucks the battery. even when i'm using standalone garmin, i always need to plug in the charger if not will be low battery after a while.

not really gps and 3g data is the one killing the battery
if use sygic is only 3g. my battery only shades around 15% every hour.
GPS + 3G + screen = killer
Cell standy takes up the most (according to battery usage) Followed by display. According to CPUspy, my CPU has been constantly running around 1400MHz and it fluctuates between 800 ~ 1400

just download the wanam and flash over only without wipe ? that good, but don't know download odex or deodex better =.=
A .dex file is basically a compiled bytecode version of an app that has been built for the Dalvik VM which Android's apps run on. I believe it is short for Dalvik Executable, but I'm not sure if I'm remembering that correctly.
An .odex file is an Optimized .dex file (hence the 'o'), meaning that it has basically been pre-compiled for a specific platform. The advantage to this is that startup time is much faster since the VM doesn't have to perform any optimizing at startup/runtime. The disadvantages are 1) That it takes up some extra space and 2) An odexed app won't run properly if it's put onto another device, and it must have the associated .odex file to run at all.
ROMs are typically released in deodexed form because they can be themed and modified fairly easily, whereas theming/modifying an odexed ROM is basically impossible (at best things would crash like crazy). Some people also choose to release their ROMs in odexed versions for people who would prefer the performance gains.
Most of the stock ROMs I've seen are odexed, I assume because the carriers/manufacturers want the performance boost. They also don't have any kind of official theming methods, so they probably don't care if you can't change the colors of your status icons or your system text or whatnot. Plus they have the advantage of knowing what device they want their system to run on, so they can pre-compile the .odex files very easily, I imagine. As an added bonus, it makes it difficult to pull .apk files off of the device and share them with people.

last time, now on FoxHound. It was good but somehow to avoid memory leakages, dev suggested to disable lock screen which for me, I needed it and some more, the pure JB lockscreen was beautiful and disabling it? nahh waiting for a more polished build.

FoxHound is fast, and really the ROM is built in with plenty of customisation options which to me are great-add ons. Batery life is so so, not as great as CheckROM, but smoothness is about the same. You could customise on what to install (mods, scripts, themes, default launchers) while on the recovery as well lol. All in one. no wonder the ROM is 800MB+
i dont use tapatalk... cant put lyn forum innit =.= is it possible to lyn with it?

dislike random spikes, lag, crash here n there. somewhat feels unpolished and definitely not ready for prime time. glad sammy didnt release it like this xD can feel abit tension to use as daily driver, still feels unstable, nevertheless, its good to check out n explore!

wipe cache and reflash your rom. i think its caused by incompatible phone.apk.<-- most likely will solve this problem.
or else factory reset after doing backup <-- confirm working this way.
OTA update. Not rooted before, all original so far, no mod what so ever, and no custom theme.
How come phone.apk will force close one Try using kies to update ... Not sure what happened. Usually phone apk force close is caused by using incompatible phone.apk (custom themed phone apk) or download latest firmware blh1 from http://www.hotfile.com/dl/166926403/b35521...H1_XME.zip.html
then look for odin flashing guide

connect to pc with cable, copy paste your .pdf file to your phone ( create a folder so that it wont mess your phone main directory)
download a ebook reader which supports pdf or use a normal pdf viewer to read?

root mean administor privilege,
also it's something similar to disabling User account control (UAC) for windows 7, in the sense that once you root your phone, your more susceptible to hacks and malware e.g. Mempodroid.
But this is a risk all of us who root our phones accept. The smart ones obviously install security apps like avast mobile security, adaway, SuperSU, amongst others for precautionary measures
So if you manage the security of your android, then i think the risk is well worth it, seeing as a lot of useful apps require that your android smartphone is rooted.

antivirus apps? like too stupid for me lol... nevermind everyone have different taste
sorry to insult, not my intention. Let me rephrase that, what i mean't was people who were prudent in regards to security matters. Better ?
If you don't install much apps, then less risk malware/virus can get your android, but then what is the fun then of owning an android smartphone
well let me just share the most useful of the security apps being avast mobile security.
1. it's free 2. it's was top 2 in the 2012 mobile anti virus roundup by professionals in terms of detection and removal of virus/malware 3. this AV is especially good for rooted phones unlike kaspersky which lacks being able to install to the root. 4. if your phone gets lost or stolen, there is a ton of security measures in place. You can locate the phone via gps, you can prevent the phone data from being read using encryption or auto wipe, if the SIM card gets replaced, you will be notified what the new sim card phone number is etc etc... 5. it doesn't drain much battery. the app most cpu/power intensive activity occurs, when scanning apps when your installing them, and also scheduled scans, or manually forced scans. it's very efficient.
so for this minimally needed app, i don't see much reason not to use it
The 2nd app simply because it's just as good. Adaway. 1. it detects adware 2. it blocks them 3. yes it's also free 4. very efficient uses little power unless running the scan manually
Without adaway you will be plagued by lots of adaware traffic, and push notifications especially from free apps on googleplay (and even some paid apps as well).

Android has been around for a few years now and yet the topic of security continues to be the source of some argument. On the one hand you have the argument that Android is not susceptible to virus threats and, provided you are careful about what you download, there is no real need for antivirus software.
On the other, you have reports and statistics claiming that malware is frighteningly common and any Android device without protection is sure to get infected. So where does the truth lie? We’ve asked experts from three prominent companies in mobile security — AV-Test, Avast, and Lookout — to help us figure out just how much danger we’re in.
if you think your mobile security is inconsequential then that is your choice and i respect that. but i am more prudent based on my android usage, and the stuff of personal value i keep on my phone worth protecting
but it's not like i am making this up, just refer to the sources i've linked and find out for yourself how vulnerable android really is

I wonder how apple is going to justify their actions of doing the same, while protecting themselves from the same accusations their accusing samsung of
Apple should stfu, and just get back to work ;X
I particularly liked this guy's explanation regarding this situation apple and samsung are in. Just what exactly did apple invent
so samsung 2012 smartphones vs iphone4, is similar to ultrabooks vs macbook air

The Ultrabook category could potentially be killed off or diminished by Apple lawsuits
[Update: Apple's patent appears invalid due to prior art -- Sony Corp. (TYO:6758) released a teardrop laptop in 2004, the Sony VAIO X505.]
Apple, Inc. (AAPL) has brought chaos to the smartphone market, with a slew of lawsuits which essentially seek to ban all of its top smartphone competitors products. According to Apple, all of its competitors are ripping off its technology.
Now Apple may be preparing to bring that same brand of litigious chaos to the world of personal computer, thanks to its victory in convinced the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to allow it to patent the design of its MacBook Air (MBA) case. Apple was granted U.S. Design Patent D661,296 this week.
I. Nearly Every Ultrabook is in Violation
Very clever in its working, Apple's new intellectual property jewel is carefully crafted to place nearly every one of its competitors designs in violation, via making its claim very general and wide.
The patent covers claims exclusive ownership to thin teardrop/wedge-shaped notebook computers. At first glance many of its competitors Ultrabooks would appear to be in violation of this patent. In other words, with this patent, Apple appears to be well along the way to having the legal firepower necessary to obtain a ban all competitors lightweight laptops.
Question though, does it have anti reflective properties ? because i don't like the mirror effect the s3 screen has.
I'm use to it now and trained not to see the reflection so much, but rather the image on screen, but still it's a bit of an annoyance
PS: when that weight ball landed on screen, how did it managed to protect the screen from shattering like the other one how does that work ? i also noticed they used an iphone to do the test. most probably because samsung s3 used gorrila 2 glass

if u see the first couple seconds after application, reflection shines through, thats at least what i think, reflection prone
the drop test is because the sp itself has spread absorb the impact, and gorilla 2 glass also prone to impact, works on both reason

So am I. Price is crazy though. I'm pretty sure most people would rather go to phone shops and pay RM20 for the SP + free apply lol
i agree. in the end comes down to the pricing, so it's hard to beat the Rm20 SP
PS: the black version of Samsung Galaxy S3 will sport 64gb of internal SD
It's awesome but, i'm using 16gb and i'm still sitting on 50% storage used despite using lots of apps.
But keep in mind, i don't keep my music or videos stored on my phone, instead i use bubbleupnp to stream them from my 6x2tb (12tb) QNAP TS-659 pro II NAS. Also i don't use external SD on the phone.
so it's nice but hardly required especially if you manage your storage space wisely by offloading big file size stuff such as music, videos to elsewhere like my example.

*updated PS: i'm finding myself wanting to use a stand or something to hold the phone in place horizontally to make it easier to watch my anime and manga.
It's sort of tiring holding it all the time. Anyone got any recommendations ?
I'm currently putting the phone between my function and numbered keys on my Ducky keyboard to hold it in place temporarily lulz...
alignment of the holes not right. so i pull off the sp to apply it again. but who knows when i pull it off it messed up the entire sp jz be careful and make sure the holes are properly aligned. other than that its same as any normal sp installation
Does it come with a protective film? That you need to peel of bit by bit as you stick
Nice, but very troublesome to use tape and leave sticky residue behind...
I guess i'm experienced enough to apply SPs
For me, I didn't peel off the front protective film until everything is done. After i squeegee all the bubbles out, i just peeled off the front protective film, and the cellophane tape came off along with it. No residue

Then yours different case I think, 2 layers of protective film (front and back)
95% of the time I faced was single sided... During my iPhone days, I get a new SP whenever it's dirty or oily...

The moment my old Car Mount dies on me (and looking at the dying suction cup, it'll be sooner rather than later) I'm getting one of these.
Additional benefit is that it doesn't cover your camera, and if postioned right, you can use your camera to record journeys or even set a Tasker profile to start recording if shock detected (aka. Accident recorder).
Yum. The never ending possibilities of Android.
And dang, curved SPs are hard to put on. I wasted 2 (yes, 2) Mercury Color Screens trying to get it on perfect lol (and yes, the Color Screens are curved). Hinge method summore. Maybe I have jittery hands, sigh.
Thankfully it's gorgeous when put on, even if the black one (and ONLY the Black ones) blocks the button LEDs. The Anti-Glare texture is exquisite, not as rough as my MediaDevils, but just as anti-glare. Planning to get summore spares.
But once you go curved, other non-full coverage SPs simply start feeling sucky. Especially if, like me, you rely on a lot of edge gestures. Even IF install is such a PITA.
BTW, Selamat Hari Raya all.

Tried sygic but didn't feel user friendly. papago i don't know enough, but i wonder why on the official site m9 isn't listed o.O; anyone know ?
google maps was recently updated to show routes for public transports if i remember correctly.
waze is a social navi that depends on other waze users to help build the road map via gps feedback when the app is in use. Also depends on user base teamwork to actively report traffic, accidents, etc etc...
Google maps has so much detail these days, so becoming harder to justify going for the paid apps compared to the free google maps
Waze is also free

THIS. Getting Nav to work is such a breeze too, to me anyway.
I have Sygic as backup though, just in case I get stuck in no-data land (GASP!).
Latest Siyah kernel is out too (1.5 Final). No more low memory lags and slowdowns in low memory situations (due to a revert to 3.0.15 Linux base from 3.0.39 which has a low memory bug) - which means WOO HOO FULL ON SWAPPING!

You do however only get 2 in the pack though, instead of 3 with the nano clear
Please buy paid version is rm129 only... Using Papago for offiline map only gps needed and Waze dat and gps needed for daily working route.
Papago is good compare to google map.... I like the junction view.... map is accurate so far for me.... My only problem with papago is when is recalculating somettimes it will force shutdown. This happend if i set destination but i am not using the route by papago. I keep on doing that just to test ha ha. And once a while it will shutdown during recalculating.

That one seriously a hot seller. Mine took a month to arrive. Bought it on 8th July, arrived just 4 days ago. But they're really nice to compensate for the delay with a free stylus. I agree that GS sell bloody expensive. That's why i bought mine off eBay. Good SP anyhow

agress... Sygic really does not really feel it is easy to look for a place... Papago been using it for some time on the stand alone unit... on my DZ since i got it, but now my fav is Waze... it does consume quite some numbers of data at 1st, after than it is ok except u go to other place where it id not in your cache... i love the live traffic P2P feedback also... at least i know approx i need how much time i can arrive to my destination...
BTW M9 for mobile was just released not long ago, you can purchase at their office located near Eastin Hotel... i have not update my stand alone unit to M9 too, although they are giving free updates... recommended Papago if you really want simple and nice GPS without much POI like Garmin/Sygic...

good or not is just a self esteem feeling, i doubt they will be any better than other premium sp brands, just the method they market it makes it feel like really best

true. personally, I would rather use a RM10 pasar malam SP. It's just that i realised majority of the cheap SP that i've tried for the S3 has rainbow effects and is not crystal clear. It makes the HD AMOLED screen look like some cheap screen

if there is a rm10 sp that has no rainbow effects and is clearly bright, just drawback is very high glaring, i think i will buy it
did you order during the weekend ? people don't work weekend ;_; they usually ship the following week during business days e.g. monday at latest.
i ordered a japanese figurine from Japan recently so i would know this works
No, i ordered on 10th Aug, after that it was under 'processing' status for 1 week, they reply my mail explained that this is pre-order item, need some time to process the order.

ya... personally have Sygic on my DZ now because my Papago M5 does not has any map updates any more, coz papago ask MFM to stop the updates... but it is mostly lying there doing nothing than get ready position haha... most of the time Waze will bring me where i want to go Papago is in my SD card with titanium backup for emergency purposes...

don buy those as cheap one... the decent one i think will cost around RM20~30... personally i do not like to use any SP or casing... most of my phones is like ~80% after 2 years usage because i never put things together with it... 2 phones in each pocket, 1 for my wallet and keys... never put any hard subject with it, even tissues pack.. haha...

dust will scratch the screen surface, and also the housing will get scratched
The glass is made by Gorilla (big, bad ape)..and used by human. Cannot scratch by dust one. Sand maybe...or used by monkeys.:-P It's much easier to scratch your phone body paint instead of its screen :-))

By the way people talked that the 1.5 Final has the led option, but when i looked at my stweaks i didn't see any option. does it mean that, before flashing kernel, i need to uninstall stweaks first in order for the stweaks to be updated to the latest that comes with the kernel zip file ?
*update
nm found the ked options. so yes when you install kernel it will auto update stweaks without needing to do anything

How is it? Is it good? Bulky? starting to wear out already?
well to me it's not bulky.. if u compared with those otterbox or whatever ninja case lar.. nope.. had been using it for 2 months ald. no complaints so far some casing the holes on the back are not aligned and cut properly with the cameras. quality control issue is there.. just be sure u check it before buying if possible.
Looks exquisite haha. I never liked slot-in pouches though. I personally find it impractical to take it in and out constantly

ah i had considered between these 2 also.. but to me i hate the bright colours on the rock case.. and this rock case feeling isn't the same like the original non-flip rock case. that's why i chose the nilkin flip case

Motorola, which is now owned by Google, filed a new patent-based claim with the U.S. International Trade Commission against Apple, seeking an import ban in the U.S. against several Apple products including the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Mac.
Google, via Motorola, is attacking Apple with seven patents, and neither one is a FRAND, or a standards essential patent. According to Bloomberg, some of Motorola’s allegedly infringed patents cover technologies related to location reminders, e-mail notification and phone/video players.
In addition to other features on Apple devices that are apparently in violation of these patents, the voice-based Siri assistant is …

HELP! Today, i left my s3 charging a couples of hour, and i found the S3 is "dead", i did not switch it off when put it charging, just now when unplug the charger it was already off by it self, tried to press the power button for 10 second, the phone still dead, remove the battery a while and put it back, still 'dead' after i hold it again for 10 seonds,, Still no luck... now im so down,...thnking of how to live without a n android for the next 3 holidays??? Help Sifu where r u?
Maybe the battery dried until it goes comatose (totally drain). Leave you phone power off and charge if for atleast 30minutes. Then only you power on your phone. IF still fail to power on 1) check your charger. Sometimes it's the charger problem. Try use another charger. 2) if after step 1 your phone still dead then it's time for medical checkup at service centre. :-)

Charge it until your battery full is enough.

Hmm..i did try open more than two apps but when comes to three then one app closed. Anybody can open three or more apps open at one time and it shown at application monitor.?
i think skype has higher priority in samsung auto task manager. i opened opera mobile, dead trigger ,skype and snote.
it auto closes snote and opera and dead trigger but skype still stays. whatsapp, glassboard, foursquare,fb messenger, and some others application still run in the background though.

good for you... try to run a few apps... facebook, whatsapp, skype and also browser... i'm very sure when u press home button will have a lil lag, after going thru all these app... the memory management in the ROM is bad... i did not expect a top range device to be like that...

only that much... the launcher also keep on restarting... try to on a few then press home button... that time it will lag to go back to the home screen... BTW i do not think is apps related problem... mostly is the samsung software engineering problem... they kill running task too easily... that cause the phone to lag too, coz when u want to go back to home screen it needs to restart the launcher again...

huhh..now can open 7 apps. I think it depend of what apps have what priority. Most probably certain apps have higher priority to keep open than certsin lower priority apps that be auto closed. Just my two cents.
If you are complaining about the browser, yes, it does crashes sometimes or all the time when visiting certain site. Try loading a link on paultan mobile site and 99% of the time, the browser simply crash. Loading the desktop version works just fine. What's the mobile version for?

Stock ROM? If so yes I agree memory management is quite bad for something that has 1GB RAM.
S2 is better, but you must understand, for thr S2 to reach that level of optimization, it took a couple of (ok, more than just a couple of) updates.
Give it a few more versions, it should shape up. Hopefully JB makes it better too.
OR, you can go the Custom ROM way, though this is not for everyone. With some Sammy bloatware kicked out + swap, I could very well run more than 10 stuff at once - concurrently - with little issue.
