If I'm on stock phone can I still install the button saviour app?
Coz I read on play store that it's for rooted phones.
Let us know how the screen protector is Bro. Installation and all biggrin.gif

Hmm. In that case, just root your phone, very simple, less than 2mins. Note: I am a first time andriod user.

restore app + data is safe, restore SYSTEM app + data may be unsafe
*
Er.. so everytime you backup, you just back using "Backup all user apps"? or "Backup all user apps+system data"? and when you restore, you used "Restore missing apps with data" only?

This morning first time on this phone I got a system hang that I have to reboot. The running blh1. I suspect is the new button savior app that I just installed. But anyway I had app crash before but it never brought down android. First time since I got this phone it suddenly happened. There goes the no hang and reboot streak I been having for last 3 months
*
Use button saviour for 2-3 weeks already. so far not facing any problem

Judging from the reviews that i've seen, nano optics seem to be the best at preventing fingerprints/smudges.

But the key difference between the Steinheil Ultra series and the Curved Crystal is that the Curved Crystal has full front coverage smile.gif

guys.. anyone encountered some dirt or stuff enter underneath the screen? I think it enters at the side through the gaps between the screen and the original case. Mine like got 2 white dot (look like paper liquid) under the screen, some where near the power button =.= tried to slide paper through it, to remove, but it is still there. anyone can think of any item that is hard and thin that will be able to slide through the gap? its damn annoying =.=

and If I purchase apps from playstore, Can i install it on another phone? For example, I plan to buy swiftkey, Can I use the apps simultaneously on 3 phone?

2. Install apps.
3. After install apps, I remove my google account and login to the original owner google account.

Is that possible?

You are over thinking things.

granted it's fair enough to understand you are cautious about rooting because you are afraid of bricking it.

however keep in mind you can easily restore a bricked S3 if you use odin3 to flash back the ori firmware.

Also to brick the phone, you need to be silly enough to disrupt the flashing mid process, or do it when your on low power.

Lots of people have already rooted with no issues.

But if still you are worried then, i don't know how else to convince you, but it's your choice.

Rooting benefits:
1. lots of app options like able to install avast anti virus on root for better protection from thieves who try to remove sim card or delete the app
2. whenever you go overseas, you can simply use the local pre-paid card to have cheap access to phone service without resorting to expensive roaming exorbitant fees
3. other apps like supersu which controls permission rights, require your device being rooted. Lots of other useful apps require root.
4. ability to install custom roms. one of the most impressive is wanamlite which removes the bloatware from the S3, so storage space and resources aren't wasted on junkware that is useless. Not to mention custom roms tend to have features, fixes and tweaks that further improve compared to the original rom.
So this is why you should root  flex.gif
Google for the youtube guides on how to

1. root your device (there are a few rooting methods. The one i used and recommend is CF-Root + Odin3 )
2. install a custom rom (optional, although i strongly recommend it, specifically with wanamlite which is popular on lowyat)
3. install a custom kernel (optional. some people feel fine using the stock kernel from wanamlite, but others feel siyah's is better for the extra tweaks and features. also keep in mind siyah kernel doesn't support jelly bean if i read this correctly. works for ICS though)
but if you think it's mahfan to google this and watch the youtube guide then i don't recommend it. Rooting isn't for lazy people. Cauz if something go wrong they simply blame others when they never bothered to follow instructions or read easy guide themselves  sweat.gif

Er.. can elaborate this further?

2. whenever you go overseas, you can simply use the local pre-paid card to have cheap access to phone service without resorting to expensive roaming exorbitant fees

Thanks!

Plan B is awesome for finding your phone for situations where you didn't take any pre-emptive precautionary measures beforehand.

but before you lose your phone, there is Avast mobile security. Once you've enabled the anti theft feature to install it on root, and using a fake app name to trick would be thieves from deleting it.

also protects you incase they try to remove the SIM, you will be notified by sms what the new SIM is. Not to mention you can set it to auto begin deleting your data when it detects the sim card has been removed, or to lock down the phone so it cannot be accessible unless they input the correct pin code.

The thief also cannot reformat the sd internal because avast will block unauthorized users from doing so unless they input the pin and remove the admin privilege for avast before they can uninstall avast anti theft from root.

Also shows you the gps location of the phone.

Do you always get error when you send command to the phone, from web browser on your laptop? I do a test yesterday and send command from my laptop. send 2-3 times, always got problems, says connection time out or something like that. so I need to send a few times then the command will be accepted. do you encounter this before? Oh.. btw. if you use it with root, it will hide & delete the fake app name. meaning to say, no one can see the anti theft apps in your apps list. to access it again, you need to open avast security mobile >> anti theft.

I didn't really test if it works.

I just made sure the friend numbers i put was correct which was

+60 for malaysia, followed by mobile number e.g. 012.....

It should work  nod.gif
To send command you don't need wireless or data connection. Just sms the command to the mobile phone and it will act on that command you sent it.

If some thief change sim card, you will be automatically notified by your friends mobile phone number, what the new sim card number is. So you can then send the command to that number  icon_idea.gif

As for hiding the app, well when you install anti theft feature, it will ask you to put a custom app name for it to make it not obvious it is actually avast.

so it will be running in service background, but the thief won't know that is actually avast, because the name doesn't say that is it because your using the custom app name you set yourself.
Once you install anti theft to root, it's very tedious to remove it. I would know because i had to uninstall the anti theft, and uninstall avast, just in order to perform a factory reset. And even then the thief needs to know the pin code, otherwise it's pretty much just a brick to them.

Also even if there was a way for the thief to remove it, you should have ample time to track down your phone using the gps feature of anti theft. So before the thief had the chance to do any hanky panky, you would be over there with the cops to retrieve your phone  icon_idea.gif

Hmm.. I find it more easy to command it with a laptop. I can send all the command by clicks, without even need to memorize the command use in sms commands. maybe you can try it on your laptop someday and let me know =)

anyway, do you have a list of command that can be used, if you send by sms? nonetheless, this is really a good apps.

EDIT: did you guys use "barcode scanner" apps to scan for barcodes?
