QUOTE(Felice821 @ Jun 30 2012, 09:30 AM) I'm newbie here. I just done SCKLM 10km run. I barely can run anymore when reached 1km ... Mayb I need more practice. Lets share! I am really interested to know why you chose VFF. Influential? the look? I clocked at 2 hours run for 10km. What a Shame! Last year Nov, I went for some bootcamp training for 4 months and stop since March. Although is not an impressive results, but at least better than this for the brooks 10km run which clocked at 1 hour 30mins. For SCKLM 10km run, is my 1st run using my vff. My blister was all around my feet, total of 7 blisters. Any idea to train better? You did good by started and good by finishing. Timing is secondary. like what you said, no with no practice, how to expect good timing. Better than so many couch potatoes. |

And that season is raining season where everyday rain. Sport shoes cannot dry so fast. And those member's and Sarge recommend Vff .. So I give it a try.You did good by started and good by finishing. I also used my new vff in scklm.. not exactly first time wearing it, i used it for hiking in gunung nuang, also did my tioman eco challenge once.. both >6hours event..first you would need to run in barefoot (find a grass field or a smooth (just repaved) road to practice. I cant stress enough to adapt in minimalist we need to train our leg muscle to get used to it.. I only wore my vff for my first 10k race after 3 months of training. Also make sure it's the right size (too big will cause too much internal movement (did you train with socks or without?) now i wear them with socks but i train without one. Blister is quite normal.. make sure if wash them clean if you are poking them out |

In it he details a barefoot running style that can be used while running in VFFs and the progression plans so that you don't injure yourself. Hmm since the gps in my phone is dead I've been thinking to buy either forerunner 210 or 410 but not too sure which one to get.
Not so much price difference btw them so not really a big factor but size is. How much bigger is 410 compared to 210? If other people see you wearing it, immediately obvious it's a gps watch? And the bezel touch, is it hard to navigate when hand is sweating? |

I haven't seen 210 in real life, but IINM the 410 is much thicker than 410. But the 410 is not THAT big, like Timex Global Trainer. U can use it just like a regular watch. Not so much price difference btw them so not really a big factor but size is. How much bigger is 410 compared to 210? If other people see you wearing it, immediately obvious it's a gps watch? And the bezel touch, is it hard to navigate when hand is sweating? The issue with 410 is the swipe movement. Sometimes U need 2-3 swipes be4 it responds. But during a run, if U wanna switch between views, U just need to touch the bezel. The watch will sometimes go haywire if water gets onto the screen & bezel. & never, ever swim with it. It's not designed to be used underwater. |

QUOTE(zerigemok @ Jun 30 2012, 08:52 PM) Hmm since the gps in my phone is dead I've been thinking to buy either forerunner 210 or 410 but not too sure which one to get. The 210 is targeted either at runners who only wanted a basic GPS watch or the ladies (with its pink color etc). It's simple to use though.. at the expense you won't be able to customize the data fields (that's the fields that's displayed on the watch such as Distance, Pace, Time). In terms of size, the 210 is quite small and most won't recognize it as a GPS watch. Not so much price difference btw them so not really a big factor but size is. How much bigger is 410 compared to 210? If other people see you wearing it, immediately obvious it's a gps watch? And the bezel touch, is it hard to navigate when hand is sweating? The 410 is larger than the 210 but slightly smaller than the old 405 (which it supercedes). If you are looking for the 405 features then the 410 is what you should get now. However the 610 is really what you should be looking at. It offers everything the 410 has and slightly more (but I've to admit the "more" features of 610 is not really that useful so it's more marketing talk than anything else). The main reason you'll want to get the 610 and not the 41x series would be the touch screen on the 610 which is a whole lot easier to use - especially in the middle of the race. The only downside of the 610 is the battery contact point corrosion that some runners seem to be encountering but that's a mixed bag as some seems to be fine with theirs. The bezel in the 41x series was an innovative feature when it was first released many years back. It's still easy to use etc but do note the "locking" issue that Tenno mentioned ie when the bezel surface has sweat, it tends to confuse the bezel contact and become unresponsive to your touch. The 610 with its touch point method does not suffer from this problem (and one of the main reason I bought it, the 405 is now my backup). One trick I used with my 405 is to bezel-lock the watch once I'm set it ready to start the race. In bezel-lock mode, you can still use the start/stop timer button... but somehow sweat, etc does not cause bezel lockdown. |

Any idea to train better? ofcourse you need more hard training, im not elite runner but always analyze and follow guideline from others..... set target for your run, maybe try to run 3 time week......strengthen ur core 1st....dont push ur body to much, will take sometime for u to season ur body.... find running group within ur level and and 1-2 experience runner....run with them they can give you good motivation to run.... to prevent blister u can try vaseline and injinji sock.....pm Choi for best price for sock... I think Garmin Forerunner 610 would be a very nice one. Any place where I can get it cheap?
