LYNRers & LYNR FBers,

Effective immediately, I will no longer assign any new LYNR numbers to those frequenting this thread or LYNR FB. Reason being, we see no use for the numbers (at least not yet). U can still request to be LYNR FB member (no numbers will be assigned there as well) at the FB page thru the mods there. As for this thread, anybody can post anything related to this sport. The majority of the events (LSDs, races) will be posted at the FB page as well. Those who have already been assigned numbers will keep the number. This thread remains as a compliment to the LYNR FB.

Thank you.

I dun think that was the result.... that was the tracking thingy... if result they have gun time, net time & position. But I guess that'll do for now.

Pay fee to be tortured huh ? I met Karsten Korbel at the finish area..he'd just finished 3:30 FM & he said to me,"I dunno why we're doing this man".... hahah... exactly... I bet everyone here will have somebody at some point asking us, why are we torturing ourselves ? My answer have always been.."Try it Urself, then U'll know".

I hope I've set some kinda example to my colleagues & also subordinates in the office at least. I've been with the same division for 6 years & everybody knows what I do after office hours, run twice a week & weights twice a week as well. It's been quite sometime that I've taken a sick leave & I've had ppl telling me I look younger than my age.

Right now I've got a few ppl with me at the gym, they came to me & asked for help on how to lose weight, etc. I've got one guy who weighs like 120kg, I advised him on his diet, asked him to workout at the gym & last week he told me he'd lost 5kg in 2 weeks... & he said right now he really enjoy going to the gym. Tht's really something U know...

This is from the SCKLM tracking

START 00:00:00 6:06:28 am --
15.5K 01:26:03 7:32:31 am 05:34
FINISH 01:58:35 8:05:02 am 05:49
Avg. Pace 05:38

This is my 10K splits from my Garmin
10K - 58:26.48 (5:51 avg), 159bpm, 88rpm
20K - 53:56.24 (5:24), 166bpm, 88rpm
1.23k - 6:12.17 (5:03), 171bpm, 89rpm

My race plan was
1st 10K@ 5:45-6:15
2nd 10K@5:30-5:45
Last stretch @5:15-5:30

So I ran my race according to plan, except for the last 1.23km becoz I was worried I won't get my sub-2hrs, which is a big thing for me becoz I've been trying & failing to get it for the past 3 years. I guess I could've run the 1st 10K a little bit faster but for the huge crowd, I only got clear in Jln Loke Yew, about 8-9K from the start. In Seremban I won't have this problem since the crowd is not too big.

I've set my mind to treat the race as 2 10K tempos.. I've ran 55-56min 10K tempos in training so I knew I could hold the pace. During the race, the KM markers was my checkpoint. Everytime I pass a marker after 15K, I'll see how I felt & if I could push the pace further. There was never a doubt in my mind that I could. This is the 1st race that I truly enjoy & felt good thruout, so good in fact that I almost forgot to take my gel @10K. Oh, the Surge chocolate tastes awful, to me at least... Gu is better.

I hope I can run faster in Seremban, I dun really care about my injury now, I guess it's here to stay.

I think we shud have certain rules before giving out LYNR numbers. Some ppl just request & are never seen again. The admins at our Facebook page is also doing the same thing. Maybe new members must have certain number of posts before requesting LYNR number, 20 posts for example.

Pls be advised that LYNR can offer no other benefits than being part of a very enthusiastic group of runners. No discount at any store (except maybe Choi's)... no membership card, only LYNR vest... for the time being la.

I dun mind giving out numbers to anybody, just that I saw our FB admin doing some filtering, I guess it's a good idea to do the same thing here.

Yeah... tht might be a good way to start... some ppl in FB dun have LYNR number yet.... maybe we can let ppl bid for numbers... can get income to fund our activities, like our water station... hahah

any comment on it ?

I've used PowerGels, Gu & 2nd Surge. In terms of performance, I really couldn't tell the difference, but for me, taste is more important. In terms of taste, GU chocolate is my top choice, tastes like real chocolate. I took 2nd Surge choc during SCKLM, tastes like medicine, same as Powergels. 2nd Surge espresso tastes a little bit better.

I dun think they let U try compression wear... try as in, put it on. U have to refer to a chart with Ur height & weight.

Is compression wear really boost performance? How does 2XU differ from other compression brands like Nike, Reebok, etc?
*
U asked this question be4 I think...

Manufacturers will put all sorts of scientific research data on their websites to support their claims on the advantages of compression wear. But the basics is the same. If U look at any sport, when working out, U'll need to brace Ur body upon impact or under load. Compression wear helps U to do that, in a way, so that Ur body is always braced. The biggest advantage is injury prevention.

What's the difference between 2XU & Nike, etc ? Honestly, I dunno. But 2XU seems to be one of the most expensive brands. I've been using CW-X tights & I can tell the difference between using it & not using it. I also have 2XU's socks & calf sleeves, which I use for recovery & if I pull my calf muscles (which happens quite often these days .. hmm.gif ). I guess since 2XU & CW-X deals primarily with compression products, their line up is better & more focused than the mainstream brands.

well im a way i agree and disagree....my office policy is to block FB.  cry.gif  cry.gif
So the only time i get to access facebook is on my mobile or via a wireless huddle to my laptop.
My office also blocks FB..only can access during lunch hour.

The purpose of the rules is to control our membership. Since it's a close group, we might as well have certain rules for ppl to join. Out of the 124 LYNR numbers we've given out, maybe less than half is actively involved, whether via this thread or FB. As I've said many times to newbies, we dun offer any perks at the moment la, even the vest U have to pay for it.

Hmm since the gps in my phone is dead I've been thinking to buy either forerunner 210 or 410 but not too sure which one to get.

Not so much price difference btw them so not really a big factor but size is. How much bigger is 410 compared to 210? If other people see you wearing it, immediately obvious it's a gps watch? And the bezel touch, is it hard to navigate when hand is sweating?
*
I haven't seen 210 in real life, but IINM the 410 is much thicker than 410. But the 410 is not THAT big, like Timex Global Trainer. U can use it just like a regular watch.

The issue with 410 is the swipe movement. Sometimes U need 2-3 swipes be4 it responds. But during a run, if U wanna switch between views, U just need to touch the bezel. The watch will sometimes go haywire if water gets onto the screen & bezel. & never, ever swim with it. It's not designed to be used underwater.

Do Timex Run Trainer or Nike GPS+ have the virtual racer capability? I know most Garmin watches do have.

U know wht? I've had my 410 for almost 2 yrs now but I haven't use the virtual pacer not even once...

I agree tht the 610 is a better option, the price Choi is offering, 2 yrs ago I bought my 410 at tht price. & the 610 is waterproof & swimmable...obviously... in terms of size, I dunno man, but I guess wht U wear will speak volumes about Ur interests.. so if ppl see U wearing a GPS watch,"this guy must be a runner..."
