if the phone is announced on may 3rd, then usually how long will it take until it's available in malaysia?

Most probably next year or maybe end of this year and if we're lucky maybe July

should take 1 or 2 months at most?

bcoz based on previous launches, local samsung wouldn't delay the launching that far from the announcement date.....unlike fruit brand

can fight one x or not ;D

IMO for current situation... anything above dualcore is overkill... jz like i5 vs i7 case... where the software didnt on par with the hardware... the most important thing is battery life~

should come with a bigger screen. <4.5 inches. 12MP camera. Super amoled plus 2?

quad core, on chip LTE, 4.5-4.7" screen is confirmed


but the rumour regarding 5 icons on a row....i wonder how they're going to do it on a 4.7" screen. the icons gonna look vry small.

5 icons will only look good on 5.3" and above like GNote

Gathered rumored specs so far..

Top on the list of specs expected to make it to the next Galaxy is a 1.5Ghz quad-core Exynos processor with 1GB RAM, a 12MP camera with 1080p video and built-in software with special effects like slow-mo and time-lapse mode. In addition, the camera is said to be capable of shooting videos at 60fps (standard is 30fps). There’s also a 4.8-inch 720p Super AMOLED HD display with a 1280×720 pixel resolution and a 305ppi pixel density promising a razor sharp viewing experience.

Other specs include NFC support, a 1.3MP front camera with 720p video and a removable 1,750mAh battery and 32GB of on board storage. In terms of dimensions, the Galaxy S III is said to have a thickness of 8mm – not ultra-thin but still thin by today’s standards.

2nd that. I have two S2 in the house, very happy with it...no need to upgrade. Most current apps can barely take advantage of the S2 hardware. 2D games...1 Ghz single core can kaw-tim...and good 3D games only a few...I wait for Galaxy S5 baru upgrade...lol.

I agree. If you already have an S2, you are fine for another year to be honest. The S3 might boast massive hardware that will rival the One X (and lets face it, the One X is already a power house), but the thing is.. like the above post stated.. games and apps would need time to take advantage of the quadcore or even dual core still for that matter. So if I were you guys, I would decide carefully.

PS: When i bought my One X, I came from a single core Nexus S. For me.. the difference is heaps and bounds.
When you guys upgrade from an S2, you would be really happy, but at the same time you would think... meh.. the s3 is an awesome phone.. but, I can do the same things my S2 can...

Always do your research before buying something, and don't regret if you are a moderate user.

Just wanna see the design first. That would be a deal breaker for me as I don't care much about specs atm since as you can see I already got s2 on hand

Exactly. The S3 does exactly the same thing as my S2...LOL. I thinkl for moderate users...RAM and internal storage more important. knowing Android jalat 2-3 tier partition storage (heard it's fixed in ICS...like One X..all apps can install in signle partition?), having small internal storage is a serious issue. Which is why i opt for the S2 when i buy my wife a new phone recently...main factor, huge internal memory...enough for apps, photos, sms etc without having to worry about external memory card and partitioning issue (some apps can't be move to the 3rd tier storage of the external SD card as it treats the 2nd partition like an external SD). Actually for her usage, One V enuff, but she dun like the chin design...(i gotta admit...fugly!) and the small internal storage.

One thing with HTC phone...internal storage damn kedekut and small...even previous gen top of the line phone like Sensation and XE...also very small internal storage.......Only One-X/ S have big internal storage largely due to the lack of a micro-SD slot.

When i upgrade from my previous HTC Desire->S2, largely becoz of the small miniscule internal memory issue. The 13GB (2 +11) usable memory in the S2 fixed all my problems...

bro ur s2 can play real steel?

Once Galaxy flagship phones reach its quota..Samsung surely gonna release its sub-version. It happened on Galaxy S and also SGSII

Instead of pushing for faster and better hardware, why not optimize the games in play store first? Most of the games in play store arent even properly optimized for dual cores, and the ONLY games that i know can really tax the processor and gpu is shadowgun and glowball.

Google should really start fixing the play store, not saying its a bad thing, but apps are what attract consumers, and right now, sadly, app store is still ahead of the play store. It's not about the quantity of the apps, it's the QUALITY of the apps that count

Back on topic, agreed with shizuru, seriously? A 1750mah battery for a quad core? Seriously samsung?

1750 mAh is acceptable since its removable

one x unremovable only 1800mAh...

Speaking of which, how is the battery life on the one x? Can it last a full day on moderate usage?

Light usage with 1h40m screen on time can last 2 days. With 3G/Wifi constantly connected, auto sync on for several accounts and emails, few whatsapp & SMS & short calls

Heavy usage with heavy browsing and gaming will last about 20+hours to 1 day

with tweaks its able to last full day with more juice to last another half day


interested to see how the quad core exynos will manage its power. tegra 3 did quite a good job i must say

M'sia will get different version of S3 again... with big G letter in the end of the title... LOL

It's think if it's really going to be 1750mAh it's because they did it on purpose and later market an extended battery with bigger capacity like s2.

The S2 price just dropped last month. I think it will be a few more months before it drops further; or maybe Samsung will discontinue it.
But the price of Nexus - currently at RM2,099 - is likely to drop.

If you are planning to grab an S2, I advise you not to wait...

The price of galaxy nexus supposed to drop already. now AP set only selling for 1.4k.
the price of S2 will continue to drop after the S3 launched. and the S2 will be discontinued when S3 comes out.

Not really sure or bothered. But my XBOX360 can play Street Fighter X Tekken.

Just want to know: Do you prefer the physical Home button of S2 or the soft button of Nexus?

There are rumors which say that S3 will retain the physical button.

I prefer soft buttons like HOX, not onscreen like Nexus (unless bazel below is small)

Physical navigation buttons are just meh

For me, i like on screen button like GNex. Can do a lot of custamization on it thou, if u know what i mean..

LTE nice...but Mareisha no LTE yet...i suspect here will launch model with no LTE to cut cost....then S4 will have LTE when LTE is available here and people forced to upgrade...more $$$ for Samsung....

I would prefer the capacitive button instead of the software button in GNex. The software button bar will take away some of the screen estate.

The first thing I did in HOX after rooting is remove the 3dots menu bar and remap the recent app key to menu and long press home button to open recent app

The fact...it is IMPOSSIBLE TO OPTIMIZE the apps...because Android is just like PCs....thousands of possible hardware combination...not like iFong...one model only..

Think like this:
Android=PC Windows. iFong=consoles.

Console games always optimized, even with inferior hardware. PC games...high end hardware also useless when the games only runs in DX9.

Anyway, i yam not too concerned about HP games...only good for killing time while waiting for wife shopping...no need complex 3D games.......

Don't think so. Most probably A15 meant for Tablet or upcoming GNote 2...

yea, most probably they will use Exynos 4412

Exynos 4212 quadcores is the best bet though it wont harm if Samsung smack us A15 Exynos 5212 dualcores as a bonus ~~LOL~~
