Local banks sucks. Get one from those foreign banks like OCBC, Citibank or Standard Chartered. Easily between 4-10x your monthly salary.

QUOTE(hye @ Mar 4 2012, 06:35 AM) Please avoid giving hypothetical values of what a CL should be unless you are the bank itself and have the power to grant the CL to whoever that is asking. Readers here will be too quick to go out and demand the number from the bank not realizing CL value are not solely determined by income factor alone. And different banks have different risk management practice (which changes every now and then) which impacts that CL value. fruitie gave that multiplier, i simply gave the number. sorry if i offended anyone.Imagine the impact if the person who ask goes ahead and seek 8K as CL and did not get the CL, writer edge85 or jasontiong - are you willing to assume responsibility for your action / answers if the person takes legal action ? What if the bank itself sues ? And are you willing and prepared to provide compensation for providing misleading financial information ? Think about this before providing such answers like the above. This is the uniqueness of this thread. |

Hi,Bear in mind, Maybank is stingy in giving or approving request for higher CL. I apologize if my question violates the board's R&R. I'm not going to sue anyone for sharing information (which might seem to be wrong) or anything. I just wanna have a rough idea about what should I do next. Either applying for higher CL or opening a new card with another bank. Anyway, I think I've got answers to my question now. Thanks all for sharing: |

QUOTE(boris @ Mar 4 2012, 10:43 PM) Hi, Here's my answer. Your salary, 4K, puts you out of the BNM ruling. So your CL will be totally up to the bank to determine. BNM ruling states that those who earn 3K and below monthly cannot get CL more than twice their monthly salary.I apologize if my question violates the board's R&R. I'm not going to sue anyone for sharing information (which might seem to be wrong) or anything. I just wanna have a rough idea about what should I do next. QUOTE(prescott2006 @ Mar 5 2012, 09:59 AM) If I use Maybank2kad AMEX to pay when I go to Bali, will I kena charge extra? Is it better to pay by cash or use cc when go Bali? If you use credit card or charge card overseas, you are liable for overseas transaction fees imposed by the bank. Obviously you did not read and took the easy liberty to just ask to get answers with no effort (Sigh) - we have many times stated AMEX is the most expensive. By stating what you said - would using your card in Singapore / Thailand / Japan / US / China / Sudan be charged extra ? Would a foreigner using their credit card in Malaysia be charged extra ?The answer is NO! Merchants do not have the right to charge extra when users use credit cards - these charges are always "imposed" because customers consented to the extra fees and allowing merchants to charge you extra. The extra fees are not allowed by the rules set by Mastercard and VISA International. To the question of you want to use cash or cc - are you comfortable carry tons of cash around in Bali or would you prefer to carry a piece of plastic ? Converting MYR to any foreign currency also attracts "exchange fees / exchange loss" at the money changer - have you thought of that ? This post has been edited by hye: Mar 5 2012, 10:20 AM |

QUOTE(andrekua2 @ Mar 5 2012, 03:46 PM) Well, judging from my short cc history. Yeah, no surprise. Many reported at the CL thread they were given high CL over their monthly income. Look at your SCB |
