Haha. To be honest, I wanted to reject it too last time when they offered me. You know, I feel that these CSs were just doing cold calling. laugh.gif
But somehow God shed some lights to me on that day and I accepted the offer. tongue.gif
Subsequently after that, SBC also called to offer me don't know what Business Platinum which I'm not interested at all, plus she called at the wrong time when I was rushing for my work. laugh.gif
Luckily I read it on LYN after that, it is not a good card after all. Phew.

By the way, added "i" to the Platinum at the title.

I just booked a hotel in Penang and got 6% discount only.
The promotion for 10% has ended on 31st January 2012. hmm.gif

The footnote on agoda.com.my/maybank
Offer details:

LIMITED OFFER: 10% discount off for bookings to Singapore and Malaysia only (excluding Tax & Service charges) from 1 January – 31 January 2012 only
6% discount off the Total Booking Value (exclusive Tax & Service charges)
Valid for bookings from 1 January 2012 until 31 December 2012

Why don't pay using Maybank VISA or MasterCard, you can get 6% discount. smile.gif
I just bought mine last week using Maybank VISA. biggrin.gif

Hi, thk for the info.
I thought paying with amex during weekend is more worth as we can get total 7.5% rebate.
Furthermore the Maybank Visa/master, 6% discount only apply on the hotel rate excluded the tax and fees.

Mind to share?

Thanks

IF they process your transaction on weekend. there is a risk there, so avoid risk, i don't mind less 1.5%..

and beside that, not sure if agoda gonna charge MYR or charge USD into the amex. (if that happen, you lose $ again on the forex transaction)

I changed my currency to MYR in Agoda's interface and whatever amount shown on the screen is the amount charged to my card. smile.gif So, no extra charge for exchange rate.

Huh it works like that? But are you paying with Visa/Master or Amex?

But anyhow, i thought the currency in Agoda was just for user's convenience to know the amount will be charged by them?
And u booked Msia hotel or other country???

Furthermore all transactions actually goes to Agoda account only then they will credit to the hotel's account, and Agoda account are not Msia based so currency exchange are bound to happen.....

Added on March 2, 2012, 11:18 amOh just read above, u booked hotel in Penang.
That explains

Btw, the 2nd post i saw 5% cash back is based on Posting Date instead of Transaction Date?

Becoz if i read correctly, what Ronnie mentioned in the 2nd post means is the comparison if spending on weekend that is the last day of the month...It will be credited on the next month...

I assume that is due to the statement date are usually counted until 20-24th of each month..
So any spending after 24th will only be showing in next month's statement..

I assume he didnt mean the cash back is based on posting date..

I agree, instead of getting 6% may end up with only getting 2.5% returns and thus loose 3.5%. Better go with losing 1.5% then 3.5% tongue.gif

I already read very properly lor..

All your example transaction date is 29th Oct 2011, which is a Saturday.
But Posting Date is different, that is what makes the difference of cash rebate either going to Oct or Nov statement.

What i mean is that cash rebate are based on Transaction Date, means entitled to cash rebate.

The 5% Cash Back is subjected to POSTING DATE not transaction date. Here's a detail example by ronnie

Where as the above Gen-X statement gives me the impressions that cash rebate are based on Posting Date.
Which means if transaction done on 29th Oct but posting date is 2nd Nov is not entitled.

Get what i mean? I think your statement/finding is correct but the way Gen-X put it is confusing smile.gif

Gen-X should reword as
"The 5% Cash Back payout is subjected to POSTING DATE not transaction date. Here's a detail example by ronnie"
