maybank got call me asking me whether to take their 2card gold o not . but i rejected .

may i know the 5% rebate must use amex ? or mc also can ?

It is good to have some credit history.

If u pay your debts on time, it will be easier to get loans in the future when u want it.

In fact, it would be harder for someone to get loan if they have NO credit record.

Eventhough, the media asks us to be careful with CC, doesn't mean we should not have it.

A catch 22 situation.

Lately I notice the M2U for the Card Transaction history details is kind of slow update, but the 'Total Outstanding' the do update on time. Make me worry and wonder why the 'Total Outstanding' is not same as my history. It take about 2~3 days to appear later... sweat.gif

this is because the transaction is not posted to yet.

Whenever you make a transaction, the amount transacted will be deducted from your credit limit immediately. Therefore you will see changes to your "total outstanding" almost immediately after the transaction

And it takes 1-3 days for it to be posted to your credit card account, thats why you will only see it under "transaction history" 2-3days later.

M2U got so advanced? M2U couldn't even display available credit limit. Are you sure of that? hmm.gif

Just did it at 5pm today.
Initially plan to use paypal (link to amex) to pay, but agoda system said it will be in USD if paid in paypal.
to avoid complication, switch to amex. After the transaction, immediately receive sms fr maybank.
So it shld be capture as today transaction.

From my experience, yes. Though they don't have the row providing info about available credit limit.

However, available credit limit can be calculated by: Total credit limit - (minus) outstanding balance

I think what @David83 concern is the inaccuracy of your information. We have a lot of "easily" confused readers here and we need to be careful of how the information is stated. It has to be factual ... period. Too many came in here with assumptions, heresy, etc - not factual.

Thanks for your clarifications and appreciate for the clarity and accuracy to kept spot on - it can be disastrous to state something that is not clearly there and can only be obtained "indirectly." Please bear in mind of this the next time you post.

Hi everyone,

I have M2C Gold with credit limit of RM5k but now I'm planning to raise the credit limit. Say if my salary is RM4k per month, how high can my credit limit be?

Thank you.

Usually it is 2x or 2.5x of your salary.
Bear in mind, Maybank is stingy in giving or approving request for higher CL. smile.gif

I see.
In this case, would it be better if I apply for new card with other bank?

Try to request for the CL increase by submitting the income documents first. No harm.

i couldn't link my amex to paypal. i called up the 24 hour customer service. due to fraud case going on, they said they can only "open the line for a 1-2 days" then close it back.

should be about 8k

Please avoid giving hypothetical values of what a CL should be unless you are the bank itself and have the power to grant the CL to whoever that is asking. Readers here will be too quick to go out and demand the number from the bank not realizing CL value are not solely determined by income factor alone. And different banks have different risk management practice (which changes every now and then) which impacts that CL value.

Imagine the impact if the person who ask goes ahead and seek 8K as CL and did not get the CL, writer edge85 or jasontiong - are you willing to assume responsibility for your action / answers if the person takes legal action ? What if the bank itself sues ? And are you willing and prepared to provide compensation for providing misleading financial information ?

Think about this before providing such answers like the above. This is the uniqueness of this thread. smile.gif

Local banks sucks. Get one from those foreign banks like OCBC, Citibank or Standard Chartered. Easily between 4-10x your monthly salary.

What you talking abt is before 2012. Start from this year, the regulation for CC had been stricten by BNM.
