hi d7000 owners,

do any of u suffer from blur images taken with d7000?

it seems that a number of pictures that i took even with high shutter speed/VR on/flash appear not sharp...

a number of my images appear like the last picture in this thread:
http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/readflat...38682038&page=6

my ex nikon d40 with the same lens appear sharper when i pixel peep at 100%...

Wondering if anyone here is into macro photogragphy?

I'm thinking of getting an SB-29s ,macro ring flash for this use, and impossible to find even used.......anyone know if some pros selling of their old gear?......

I know the latest macro by Nikon is the R1C1, but i can't justify 2.5k for a macro flash, especially for someone who is doing this just for hobby/ part-time work......

im using my sb700 as my macro flash...
advantage = save money
disadvantage = front heavy and shadow under the insect...

this was my old setup (d40 + sp90 + di622):

my new setup still looks like that (d7k + sp90 + sb700), and i jz DIY a new softbox diffuser...

Does anyone have any experience or any advise on these 2 macro lenses?? I'm planning ot use either one on a DX

1. AFS DX 85mm f/3.5G est RM1.6k
2. AFS      60mm f2.8G  est RM2.1k

it will be used for closeup/macro/food and potrait

i'm not using the lens for commercial work, although my work does requires some good photo shots, maybe even get a few part time jobs if things go well enough

for food i would recommend 60mm...
i used sp90 and found it to be too near to food...

hi smokey,

just to recap, if i use the FX 60mm micro on the DX, wouldn't it be the same as 90mm in FF?
then if 90mm in FF is too near, looks like my option is only the 40mm micro in DX ,that would come up to a 60mm in FF ,correct?
thing is i just bought the 35mm 1.8G..... cry.gif

90mm on my d7k is like 135mm on FF...
unless i stand on a chair or ladder, i cant capture the whole plate in my pic at all...

so i use 50mm f1.8 on my d7k for food and found it to be a good range...no need to stand so far away...and food photography does not need 1:1 magnification...so a macro lens is just an extra feature...

u can refer my flickr in my signature to see the food pics taken using 50mm...only the extra big pic is taken with sp90...

if u need macro, u can buy raynox dcr-250 and attach onto ur 35mm as a cheaper alternative...

on the subject of portrait lenses......

which would be a better dual purpose lens alternating between macro and general purpose use on a DX body?
1. nikkor 60mm f2.8
2  nikkor 85mm f/3.5 DX
bear in mind my current walkabout is a 16-85mm f/3.5-f5.6

i'm thinking of adding one of these as the 105mm VR doesn't really suit my macro usage at this moment

i have sp90 which i use for macro...at times i will use it for portrait too...i like the picture better than my 50mm f1.8d...

shoestring budget here...shoot with what is available, not about buying new lens for each different occasion...
