Frequently Asked Questions About Naza/KIA Forte v1.0 Written By CyberKewl a.k.a MLBL
Q: How much does the Forte Costs? A: The latest / current price for the Forte costs RM 78,800 for the 1.6 EX, RM 85,800 for the 1.6 SX, RM 97,800 for the 2.0 SX
Q: Which trim/version of the forte is most worth it to buy? A: The SX version is the most bang for buck, whether you're going for the 1.6 or 2.0 SX. If you can spare the cash for the road tax cost of the 2.0, go for it (approx < RM 400). The 1.6 SX has extra goodies such as reverse camera, paddle shifters (!!), stability control programmes such as EBD, CBC, BAS, TCS (the 1.6 EX only has ABS), 6 CD changer, Electric folding mirrors, Keyless entry & start/stop engine button, full auto aircond system, Front fog lamps. On the other hand the 2.0 SX has an improved Motor Driven Power Steering, Cruise Control, Leather seats, side & curtain airbags (and of course, a 2 Litre engine!). Ultimately if you're alright with the lower spec EX which does not have the full stability control programmes and on a tight budget, its still a steal compared to many other cars in the market.
Q: How is the resale value of the KIA Forte? I heard Korean cars have bad resale value. A: Now this is often debated in the forums and almost everywhere else. Firstly, the KIA Forte is the newest generation or batch of KIA cars in which KIA is trying to get rid of their bad image or perception of korean cars being cheap, unreliable, soulless, fuel guzzers and uninspiring. The resale value of the KIA forte is still being examined and determined by market forces, so it is still somewhat unclear where it stands at the moment. We'd have to wait at least 3-5 years before passing judgement on resale value. Comparing to the standard Toyota & Honda cars (lets call them T&H from now on), KIA cars in Malaysia will definitely have a much lower resale value compared to T&H.
However, lets put it this way, the Forte is priced at the range of Toyota Vios and Honda City but with better equipment, specification and the vehicle itself is in a higher segment compared to those two cars (Forte is a C segment car while the Vios & City are both B segment cars). With this being said, since Forte has more value for money, even with a lower resale value (should it come to that), it is still worth it right? Because you get to drive a car that has a lot more features, is more roomy and has great looks to boot! All for the same price (the 1.6 SX) as the highest spec Toyota Vios G (highest non-TRD spec)! Designed by world-renowed ex-audi designer Peter Schreyer, this new KIA car is a force to be reckoned with!
Q: I've heard that Naza's after sales service is terrible/horrible, is this true? A: If you're referring to bad Service Centres, there are some that do not give a more professional service to customers, but you can go to other service centres should the service rendered by the one that you've visited is not up to par. Two of the highly recommended service centres in the Forums are the ones in Jalan Chan Sow Lin and Selayang. Remember, you only need to service your car once every 3 - 6 months depending on the type of engine oil you choose and if going to a much further one but more professional service centre is going to give you better satisfaction, why not? After all, its only once every 3 - 6 months not every 3 - 6 days or every 3 - 6 weeks even!
On the other hand, if you're referring to the parts delivery for warranty, the parts may take time to arrive depending on the demand and I believe once there are more Forte's on the road, the availability of the parts should be more abundant.
Q: How is the Forte's Fuel Consumption? Is it good / better than say a Toyota Vios / Honda City? A: Forte's fuel consumption is reasonable for a C segment car which weighs about 1.3 tonnes. Varies between 6L/100KM to 11L/100KM depending on driving conditions and your right leg. I am currently still on my first service on my Forte 1.6 SX FL 6 Speed and the FC ranges between 8.35L/100KM to 10L/100KM (before first service it was 10L/100KM). Road conditions are mixed at about 80% highway / 20% city with occassional spirited driving using paddle shifters. If your route consists mostly traffic jams with stop-and-go type of traffic, I believe the Forte would not give you a reasonable fuel consumption (possibly between 10L-11L/100KM). One of the reasons why the fuel consumption is not as good as Toyota Vios and Honda City is because the Vios weighs about 1075KG while the Honda City weighs about 1100 KG which is 200 Kilos lighter than the Forte. That being said, with the car weighing at 1.3 tonnes, it helps in ensuring the stability of the car during cornering and also helps during accidents. Which is why the Forte was awarded by the Insurance Institute For Highway Safety (IIHS) as the "Top Safety Pick" for 2010. Honestly speaking, if you are into good fuel consumption but just want an everyday car to drive from point A to point B, just get a Toyota Vios. Its boring, it has good fuel efficiency, simple, nothing to shout about. But if you're looking for a really great car, look no further. Don't dwell too much on the fuel consumption and you will be rewarded with an amazing drive and a safe car to take you and your family all the way to your destination.
Q: How many years is the warranty on the Forte? A: The forte comes with a 5 years unlimited mileage warranty which consists of 2 years from Naza KIA and 3 years from Allianz Insurance (do not worry, you don't have to buy your car insurance from Allianz to be entitled for the remaining 3 years of warranty).
Q: Are the maintenance costs for the Forte high compared to cars of similar price range? A: Not at all. Comparing to some cars of similar price range such as the Vios & City, Forte's maintenance cost is probably the lowest among them. Also do take note that if you're planning to buy a Honda City or any Honda car for that matter, honda requires you to service your car at 3 month intervals regardless of the engine oil that you are using be it mineral or synthetic oil. This would mean higher maintenance costs. For more details and comparison with other cars, google for "Forte Maintenance Comparison Chart".
Q: Is the forte safe? A: Definitely. The top of the range 2.0 SX with 2 frontal airbags and 4 side/curtain airbags, stability programmes such as ABS, EBD, CBC, BAS, TCS was awarded by the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety as the "Top safety pick" for 2010. With a weight of 1.3 tonnes, the Forte is definitely a lot safer than other famous budget cars such as the Toyota Vios and Honda City.
i didn't check on bank loans, so i can't post up.... As for Events, promotions and Poisons, please update the ones you all wanted me to post up.... And as for new members, plz do message here your Car model and color...not to forget, sedan 4AT/6AT or Koup

Did a simple DIY for side indicators quite easy to remove and wire up. I connected 2 wires to both points of the orange bulb and slot it in therefore the LED blinks in sequence & speed as Bulb.
test drove forte koup @ 1utama just now, felt that the car is faster in acceleration compared to 1.6sx (should be same as 2.0 sedan forte) but the difference to me doesnt feel too significant somehow. But love the frameless doors definitely and the door feels heavier. According to the SA the steel in the koup doors are stronger than the sedan partly to allow for better handling and also to protect for collision purposes.
Got a kia keychain, pen and red KIA bag after the test drive

hi guys, got 1 question that bothering me which is, if i install the HID on the car itself, will i still entitle to enjoy the warranty for that car or not?
I think warranty is not an issue, JPJ and police will
but if not mistaken, i've read a statement from JPJ. if want to install a HID, then the color must be 4500 and below... (should be) btw, currently my car was on 4500 and every time blocking also no problem previously was on 8000 n the police come to me like fast n furious police.... lol

as long as it is HID then it is illegal. got member (posted in mfc fb) claim being summoned by JPJ (4300K hid)

1) 2.6% intrest rate
Since Bank Negara revised the OPR, all banks have started to raise the interest rate for car loan. You'l be happy if you still can get anything below 3.0%.
I just miss it by a day and now looking for the best rate in town.

Hi, do you know what model is the new 17 inch Silverstone? Synergy M5 or Evol8? Thanks!
Hi, do you know what model is the new 17 inch Silverstone? Synergy M5 or Evol8? Thanks!
My 1.6SX is 17-inch Sivlerstone, is M5..... So far i feel ok when driving on normal road, but if bumpy, will keras a bit... the road heading to my working place is kampung road, so sumtime can feel hard a bit when the road uneven, still clocking 150km for the new car.... driving speed not more than 80km/h so far.....

Well, when Bank Negara drop the OPR, don't see banks drop their interest rate fast......

it was a news long time ago. I read it from newspaper. If not mistaken was like 2 years+ ago news.

Looks like you never take any loan before.... You will know this when you take housing loan, when BN increase OPR, banks won't ask you to pay more to compensate the difference(end up your repayment period will be longer) But when OPR reduced, bank will very fast ask you to pay lesser. Again, this step needed for bank to gain more from you.
As for car loan, since it is fixed, banks will raise it up as soon as they are notified on this. Expecting another 0.5-1% increase till end of the year.....
I have been checking on the Inspira thread apparently there is a recall on the car because of faulty hose for the power steering for the current local batch.
Was hoping to buy the Inspira as a 2nd car as my wife has laid claim over my Forte. She likes the car so much that if I were to buy another Proton she would not want to hear anymore complains about Proton QC after my last Proton ride.
Sigh. I was considering the Inspira purely because I like the Lancer but I don't want my wife to say "I told you so for buying another Proton."

hello guys, i'm in love with Forte Koupe after seeing it on last Sunday, which was at OneUtama(Kia Roadshow). persuading the parents to get for me but "Korean cars are not good enough and more(negative)" so here, any comment and suggestions? are they improving? any feedback of this car? thanks

they have improved a lot since last generation of kia cars. The design alone shows that KIA is serious about their cars that's why they hired peter schreyer (ex-audi designer) to design their current batch of cars. Forte is the end result. In terms of specificatons, i dont think any car in malaysia can beat forte's spec vs price ratio. If you compare with japanese cars, they are not only more expensive to purchase (in terms of spec vs price ratio) but also costs more to maintain compared to korean cars. I do admit forte is still quite high on the FC end but if you dont take it as a big issue, then you will love this car. No sedan car in malaysia at this price range has a reverse camera and paddle shifters!
In terms of QC, it is sometimes a hit and miss affair, every car manufacturer including toyota, honda, BMW, merc also will face some issues in their batches here and there. No perfect car out there unless you're lucky. So I don't think KIA forte is a bad deal, just that KIA / korean car makers have a bad reputation in the past for being uninspiring, boring, fuel guzzling, poor qc cars. Not so much for the latest batch of KIA cars which includes the Forte. Apart from the awesome electronic features you get a proper range of stability programmes for the Forte if you compare with similarly priced cars such as Honda City & Toyota Vios. With that said, I believe the Forte is SAFER than the City & Vios but there's no scientific proof on that, just based on logical thinking (forte has more stability programmes than the other two cars and it is also tougher than the other two cars, so you tell me which is safer logically). Is that enough to convince your parents?
^Just to add some, Kia's target market is world while the P, T, H, N's CKD are target to local market..... As Malaysia considered as third world country in terms of end user's benefits, so don't expect safety standard will be high....
cyber : thanks and much appreciate i will bring this to my parents . and last, just any feedback in terms of the performance and fuel efficiency of the car? one of the salesman told me that i wouldn't have the chance to test drive the car at any showrooms, is it true?
depending on the way you drive, you may get anywhere between 8L/100KM to 10L/100KM. I'm getting between 8-9L/100KM, sometimes i really drive fast and speed using paddle shifters, really enjoy

I got 6.2 on the highway. But on the city I'm always getting 9-10. Not exactly the best, but I won't call it bad...haha...
Hmm...probably my Iswara engine was starting to go bad when I tracked it's fuel consumption?

I doubt it since they have probably taken a lot of orders for white colour during last week Test Drive Tour 2011. They will have to fulfill those orders within these two months.

for the new 1 the intrest will increase d... if already sign up last week, the intrest will lock at there.
btw, i think the sales is shooting sky high d as the demand is more than their productivity d.....
congrats and hope that the sales smoke the T & H by miles ahead!!
guys, i felt that my forte a bit bumpy.. dunno if this have been brought up before but is there a way to improve it? (e.g. change the absorber or tyre?)

fyi, penang driver here.. ;-P
I assume u owned a Forte SX. Keep your tire to recommended pressure at 220KPa..if it is still bumpier for u, perhaps u can pressurize it a bit lower to 210KPa. Dont keep your tire pressure far below that recommended figure for the sake of the rims & the tires itself. If that also feels bumpy, perhaps u need to change to high profile tires of 205/55/R16 (of course u need to change your rims too)..that should do the trick

nope. cant. i dont mind though, if really want good FC drive kancil/bicycle/hybrid car
ahh... for my case.. full tank RM90 (RON95).. but looking at spec from here tank capacity is 52 liter, so should be RM98.8 for really full one from really empty...
went back to kuantan from kulim (gerik road) last two months, my average fuel consumption was 6.8L/100km which for me very good for 1.6L car fully loaded with 5 peoples! Can reach almost 600km before next refill! so happy to balik kampung with my lovely forte

i usually pump when DTE shows around 50 - 60km lor, dun dare to push further scared need to push the car instead
BTW what was the speed that you were driving at on average during that time? Cos if u drive slower or at the optimum speed you will get a decent FC like yours most of the time.

hahaha... so takde diff pun kat front page tu... nanti og tanya lagi top speed forte... cemuih aku...
If a buyer keep asking for top speed, he/she should look for a sports car. Forte is a family saloon LAH.
Even if they know it can go 190km/h and still more room to go, can he/she do the same if he/she doesn't have the ball (pardon the pun indeed) to do it. Everyone top speed is different even though each drive the same car. Period.

i think the problem is some pple actually want a "sports family sedan car with good fuel consumption". Put those words together and you're like asking "I want a very cheap good quality, awesome product". Funny indeed.
Do you really need that? If it can add strenght to the hollow chasis, you may go for it... But if just want to SP, still, have a "perfect" seal will be the best way....
Well if the foam hardens and fills up the hollow chassis..why not? prevent body flexing..
The only way to prevent body flexing is spot weld the chassis. If the stress is enough to flex the reveted layers of steel, it's enough to flex the foam. The flexing also provides some form of comfort for normal road cars, which is why manufacturers do not spot weld every car they make.

17" 5 lugs = seldom 16" 5 lugs = rare 15" 5 lugs = almost none existence
If I'm not mistaken, Forte uses the now almost extinct PCD 100mm for 5 lugs. There are plenty of rims for 16/17 inch 5 lugs PCD 114mm. That is why it is difficult to find rims for PCD 100mm 5 lugs.

Forte uses PCD 114.3mm....very common. Pretty easy to find 5 lugs rims for Forte >=17". But to find 16" or 15" is tough...
There's another aspect to changing rims, offset. If you wanna find smaller size + exact offset, it's like finding a needle from a haystack . We had some discussion here: http://forum.autoworld.com.my/index.php?showtopic=96641

You make the whole picture clear to me... When reading sleepwalker's statement, I already start thinking why on earth Kia would use extinct rims why they know some people will change rims after they get the car......
Forte uses PCD 114mm. Pretty easy to find 5 lugs rims for Forte >=17". But to find 16" or 15" is tough...
Well, since the PCD si 114mm, then it shouldn't be difficult to find rims. I know 100mm PCD 5 lug is a pain in the butt to find rims. Most performance cars are using 5 lugs PCD 114mm and rim shops in Sunway are full of PCD 114mm. Every new age Subaru out there is 5 lug 114mm and most of my subaru friends have 'bling bling' rims.
As for 16 inches and below that might be a problem since most people are looking for 17 and above for their plus 1 or plus 2 size upgrades and most 5 lug 114.3mm usually comes with 16 inch stock rims.

New car.... Normal checks on buying used carlor(but can skip certain parts)..... Paintworks, door rubber seals..... But what more important is, the freebies, haha.....
erm brand report diff..lets see forte sales..its possible that previous month overall car sales for other cars + forte was better. lets see the model sales first.
BTW, I forgot to add some other info.... NAZA's sales dropped by 1-2% but others >10%, especially the popular brands..... I'm expecting Forte sales up for another 10-20% from previous month....

I cant related this statement with Proton having GDI engine
Again bro Xion, I think u already confuse between MPI (which Proton use it now) & GDI (which AFAIK, yet to be used in Proton's current production cars). Putra is an old car..i bet that it used MPI
I have to say that it is partly your mistake also coz u believe him/her 100%. I'm usually will refrain myself from talking or giving comments if i didnot know the topic very clearly..else i might ended up confusing myself & others who read my comments

I think they must have done quite a lot of sales during the recent Test Drive Tour 2011 at 1U. The Kota Damansara branch has 13 unit of FL Forte delivered to their showroom (as I counted). Many unit of Citra and Rondo are also parked outside. Quite a view from the showroom.
I just verified the chassis number of my car and now waiting for the final paper work with JPJ before delivery.

I do agreed in most of the review points there, except the "cheap plastic" interior. I do not have a chance to sit in and touch feel SG version Forte, but so far I find MY version Forte interior plastic is just fine and decent, and even better compare to some of her counterparts that fall within similar price range.

@ Waachaaa,
Can you share your experience with the Silverstone tyre? You probably test drove the Forte with Kumho tyre so how is the performance of the Silverstone tyre compared to Kumho?
My car just arrived at the dealer today and confirmed it is fitted with 17-in Silverstone tyre. Wanted to know if it is better than Kumho or not. If it is no good, I will probably change it after 1K service.

Stock tyre are good enough don't worry Naza is require to meet specification stated by Kia ...
Tyre have to change any how because of Tax structure towards imported tyres are high ....
If you still intend to change it it better to change a better profile tyre than the current Kumho , I have yet to shop for tyre yet so can't recommend you one ... probably the other 1st batch- 3rd batch owner can share more on this.
Interesting that the Inspira that often being compared to Forte drop close to 45% in April while the Forte increase slightly in sales. So it looks like many who may original opted for Inspira might have jump over to Forte and Fiesta. Just a guess.
^This, I don't agree with you... Most of the people that bought Inspira was due to the "Lancer" effect.... When that effect gone, the sales drop will be expected.... Another thing is, the quality of Inspira are not up to par, so you know I know..... But this is the first month, it is still hard to conclude anything yet, wait for next month and see how it goes...

this statement is not entirely true, some ppl opt for Inspira for it's look too....yea, Inspira n Lancer GT got sporty look oso....a EvoX wannabe....Inspira n Lancer's sporty look is Japanese style...real sporty, but still can't match E5 to E9... while Forte is more to aggressive look, abit sporty due to body design...and is european style...and upcoming avante, is sleek looking, if wan sporty...i could say asian style.... design/look wise, is depends on ppl's opinion...my dad loves Inspira's look more than Forte...for me, juz opposite... I have tested the current 17inch kumho only. And the bumpy feeling is there especially driving on malaysia road. The reason for me to swap is 17inch ->16inch becoz of higher profile tyre.
I sacrifice the looks for comfortable.

Im waiting to get my car, im choosing the clear white color, but the SA say no more white color or CBU batch, new batch now is all CKD but have the clear white color that i want.. seeking for advice, any difference for the CBU and CKD? any TT in Penang anytime soon?
if not mistaken singapore has gold color forte officially but it is not an official color in korea, same goes with metal bronze. so if u want to find a touch up paint for that color is more difficult
Aparts from the tyre. WHat does the chassis number means? K or P? Is that just merely alphabets or mean something. Last heard it was still imported but manufactured some parts locally,is it still the same?
I am more concern on the quality and the QA of the car.
Fully CBU only limited units when 1st launched of 4 spd Forte in Dec 09....Start January, will claimed as half CKD, coz shipment here, to rebadge and fix in the 4 doors, where else everything else is fully imported... by now, I THINK parts fully imported, but doors, n tyres are fixed here..other than that, i dunno...

Forte that are declared as CBU unit used a 'K' chassis number originated from its assembling plant in Korea & it applies to the 1st batch Fortes mostly.
CKD Forte instead used a 'P' chassis number originated from a Gurun assembly plant at Kedah..no other meaning as far as K & P is your concern.
Quality? only time will tell. The oldest Forte is about 1.5 year in age in Malaysia..& that's for the completely CBU Forte..so it is quite early to judge in term of quality especially for a CKD one

Easy bro, of cos I know that "only doors & tire are assemble here" story, I think what he mean is whether Forte now fully assembled here or not. I guess u miss out the latest Naza's news that someone posted on last few reply, go see those pic and u will see what I mean fully CKD.
As for the tire's brand, that is my just wild guess only, Cause I notice since April, those 1.6 SX/EX comes with Silverstone instead of Kumho, but again this is just my wild guess only
Peace

Dear all Fortezen... heard quite a few issue on the start/stop button failure. I'm looking forward to buy a 2.0SX n scare tis issue is not solve. By the way it is due to remote battery weak or brake sensor problem? For me... if it is remote battery weak then it is fine bcoztis is normal wear n tear... in the other hand... if it is brake sensor failure then i would consider it is manufacture defect. Last qs... normally how long the remote battery will last?

break sensor, not really a common issue but can be fix by SC just turn the sensor higher that's all...

Mostly due to brake switch problem (not the start/stop button itself) & some cases are due to loose battery terminal connection. Since that the current Forte got 5 years warranty, i think u should consider it as a piece of mind. The part (brake switch) might take sometime to arrive (if no ready stock) but the car still can be started anyway using an alternative method without pressing the brake.
Already use my car for almost 1 year 2 months now..the smartkey battery still doesnt show any lack of signal transmission as of now

Thanks for ur advice n I am really attracted to this forte outlook and the features given at tis price (especially the 6speed and rear view camera) It was like W00t!!!
By the way how is the cabin sound insulation. Heard tat the new 6speed has better sound insulation installed. Is tat true?

The switch may stuck once in a blue moon, you can use alternative way to start the car (press start button twice and hold for 10 sec) as long as your car key is with you, just ask SC to apply some lubricants in your next service. Start/Stop button or switch malfunction is not common.
Forte still new in the market with less than 2 years, I think we do not have enough statistic to tell how long the key battery will last. Any way, that battery is not expensive to replace and there are no reason to worry about how to start the car during weak battery, that situation has been considered with the workaround to insert entire key into the key slot.
Stay tuned, members here is very helpful and always post the tips of the car. Of course, there are a poisons too that may burn a big hole in your wallet.
is the new Forte 6speed engine is dual vvti or single vvti ?
want to check the car engine spect.
VVTi is for Toyota bro..... ours is CVVT, and is single CVVT...Only new optima start came with D-CVVT... as for Malaysia, all is strip down version from Korea..

Need some advice here... I got into a little accident today where a car hit me from the back... My Kia Forte (Silver) has a deep "scratch" on the back bumper, but no crack... The other car was forcing me to pay, but I knew probably both of us were at fault, not only me... So I insisted on not paying, and resorted to making police report, after which he decided to just settle with him paying for his own repair (even worse damage to his MyVi), and I shall do my own repair... So now, I have to bear my own cost of repair... Any advice on where I can find good bargain to repair my bumper, and roughly how much would it cost? Not thinking of replacing the bumper, but possibly just smoothing it out and slight repainting?

Not necessarily. It depends on who hit you from the back. As far as i am aware, there is 2 sort of people whom despite hitting you from the back, you won't be able to claim their insurance.
1. Malay 2. City Liner
As much as it sadden me, if you are a chinese and got hit by a malay, there is a very high probability when reporting time they will twist the fact and say you are at wrong, even if you are the one being hit from the back. I was personally involved in such case, and so is a few friends, whom all share the same fate.
Second is public transport company like City Liner. Again, you will never be able to claim their insurance, because the report will never be done, officer in charge will always be magically away despite appointment is being made and confirmed a million times to settle the case. Same thing, it happened to me, my bro and some friends.
So to me, if i get hit by these people, i insist on the spot settlement if i can. Else once you reach the police station, it is always you are at fault despite you being hit.

1st thing, take the photo when got hit, i mean not moving ur car to other place... take the photo of the road and enviroment around and the most important thing is, take the photo with 2 car kiss together, if posible, with the number plate as well....

I think let's forget about making police report for now... It is over... I did not make police report, and we settled with him paying his own, and me paying my own... Maybe I should have made police report, hmmm... I think I learnt my lesson... But moving on from here...
Where is the recommended workshop for repair... A bro from this forum told me that he managed to get his back bumper repaired for RM400 in his hometown (Perlis)... Just wondering whether the same thing can be done in KL for the same price... I probably just need a bit of touch up and repainting.. Simple job, but I need recommendation for workshop, because I want to avoid "cut throat" shops... :-)

Thanks everybody
Yupp..it's me. The damage is quite a minor one..not damaging any of the 4 reverse sensor & the bumper is still structurally intact. How's yours? is the reverse sensors working fine for all 4 of them? Any bumper misplacement that might indicate broken hook? If the hook broken, u might end up with replacing with a new bumper (which is more expensive than repairing) to make sure it will attach to a car body firmly.
About 3 years back, my wife's car got hit on the door (hit & run). I've asked around for a good 'knock shop' to do the repair. I end up sending my wife's car to one Malay 'knock shop' at Old Klang Road, KL. I have to say that the workmanship is good & the price is reasonable but they took quite long to do such a minor repair (about a week if i'm not mistaken) due to many cars. This 'knock shop' located at a very isolated location & at that time makes me wonder how on earth this guy survive doing this kind of business there. But after seeing their workmanship + reasonable price, i say to myself "no wonder the cars keep coming"
This is my story..i've no intention to recommend which 'knock shop' to go or whatsoever.

izputra, i need u to lead me go and back from the place i stay in PJ SS2 to the TT place, same as going back, cause i don't have a GPS, i not farmiliar with KL

Thanks again Izputra for helping out.
Mine is just like yours. The damage is quite minor... Deep scratch, but no damage to reverse sensors, and the bumper is still intact (no structural damage)...
Come on, you ought to recommend me the "knock shop" at Old Klang Road, if it is so good!
What did they do to repair your bumper? Just touching up and repainting the bumper?

The unfortunate thing is..i'm not at KL this weekend.. will be back to my hometown. If u are a frequent traveler, buying a GPS device or a phone with a GPS capability is worth every cents

The workmanship is good to my eyes (i meant for my wife's car)..but not that i dont want to share a good 'knock shop', it is just that i sent my wife's car there for once only & my judgement is thru that one & only experience with that shop. I afraid later if i recommend it to u & then u didnot satisfy with the repair result, i will end up feeling bad to myself.
As of my car case (which i repaired it at Perlis), they just touching up + spray paint & clear coat.
hey guys i would like to ask isit worth to spend 1k+ to get the bk offered by sales branch? Or i get from outside? Also do you guys have the contact for Jason from the sunway showroom?
hi guys, few questions need help here: 1. any idea, how much nz galaxy forte OEM BodyKit selling price? 2. the booking fee we paid to SC, is it absorb by the shop or the SA also got earn? and usually booking fee paid cannot take back if i want cancel sales? coz 1 month wait liao still can't tell me when got car...
Else once you reach the police station, it is always you are at fault despite you being hit.
you must joking right?i'm hit one of chinese car but never twist the story....some more they claim my insurance...so don't simply made a RIDICULOUS statement!

White optima interior..BMW style..haha SG BODYKIT KOUP! makes the koup dam fierce Grey koup The big and handsome sportage..red and white looks nicer..didn't manage to take pic though DRL IS DAM NICE..like Audi.. Rear looks like Q5..agree? Forte hatchback!
Yeah nice photos man, which dealership is this one? I might need to go to Singapore soon. I didn't went to any Kia dealership in Korea to test drive, no international license. In Singapore, is the Malaysian driving license accepted?
I only got to experience the K5 Hybrid interiors. Damn me forgot to take photos of the K7 Cadenza at the Incheon airport on the last day. Too tired and rushing to check-in. Oh, another thing, the new Sorento floodlights are circular in Malaysia and Korea (even the type R) but the US version has the same floodlights as the new Sportage. So much better...

Dilemma!!! Actually gonna book a forte last week but a hyundai salesperson told me tat the new avante is gonna launch soon so y not wait for the price release n decide after comparing both car side by side.
guys, i'm gonna get myself 1 in near future likes 3-6months times. any SC that can recomend for me as i'm staying in Penang. been to the test drive before and the SA just offering me below things.
1) 2.6% intrest rate 2) full tank of petrol 3) tint voucher RM200 4) kia emblem
according to him the body kit cost 1.7k. i found out is quite expensive as i do my research in KL only will cost around 1.1k.
any ppl out there know how much it cost to install the body kit in Penang?
About the body kit, you have to ask about the Material that your SA who offer you..~ Btw, KL maybe can get better offer than Penang..

how the supervision cluster in the SX looks like. and how it is with the EX?
Supervision cluster is just a fancy name for the SX's meters. The speedometer has a scarlet rim around it and the LCD display has a 6-function display with a smoother font rather than the EX's chunky digital font.

lauch mayb around july/august, but mayb get the car on Nov. this is wat i heard of.

Hi, yesterday I contacted 3 Hyundai branch managers thru SMS & the answer I got was:
#1: SMS me back with dunno when launching & dunno what price
#2: Called me to tell me launch in Sep & price from 90K to 110K as still not finalized specs - if sell at 90K then many features will be taken out. Said can put RM500 booking.
#3: SMS me back with launch in Sep & price from 90K to 100K
If at that price, I supposed Forte 2.0 will get hit together with Chevy Cruze (not that they are selling well anyway)
Actually this Avante looks fantastic but I got 3 small concerns:
#1: Air-cond vents looks a bit small & located low on the dashboard - not sure efficient enuff to cool the rear passengers or not. If cannot then have to set air cond fan to HIGH most of the time & then will have more noise.
#2: Lots of reviews from US proclaims it the best compact car at the moment. However our beloved Forte is proven to be quite reliable & popular based on the 6,000+ units that are running on the road compared to Avante who will be new to our hot & pot-holed filled roads!
#3: Wish I could wait for it but since the Govt implemented 18-point check before selling 2nd hand cars, I need to get rid of mine fast!!!!!!! My Forte 1.6SX Clear White is coming next week!
Guys, noob question. When I opened the radiator cap, should the water level be all up, filled the hole? Mine is at base level. Or should I not bother on the radiator cap, just check on the coolant reservoir level?

Hey bro... i got the same answer like you as they really cant confirm the OTR price of new avante. The extra news i got is there will be 3 spec. 1.6 v standard spec, 1.8 v standard spec n 1.8 luxury spec.
If 1.8 v standard spec priced below 100k then probably i will go for the new avante as they are using the new "Nu" engine which claim better fuel efficiency and the car has better quality of plastic. Furthemore the US based Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has awarded the 2011 Hyundai Elantra a "TOP SAFETY PICK"!!!

Hi, sure got 1.6? I heard from branch manager #2 that they only have 1.8 & 2.0. Really hope they will not come out with a 1.6 Avante at a price close to Forte 1.6...... this will surely kill Forte & also lower down our resale value & make us jealous not to have a more beautiful car.
Hi bro, Forte also awarded "2011 TOP SAFETY PICK" la....all cars also "2011 TOP SAFETY PICK"Â
Yupp..by considering it with the side airbags installed. But if the Avante arrived here with only dual front airbags (as what Sime Darby did to the new Sonata), this award is already out of equation
This post has been edited by izputra: Jun 2 2011, 01:45 PM
ooooo side airbags pun kena kira yek utk dpt award di atas...
For safety rating, usually car manufacturers will send their cars for testing that are equipped with full loads of safety thingies like side airbags, curtain airbags, anti-whiplash head rest, seat belt with pretensioner & load limiter etc. But when it come into sales..not all these safety equipments installed as a standard..it depends on which country/region the cars are sold.

Hey bro... Thanks for ur info. Nvr realize tat forte got tat award. Wish tat they can release avante price n spec asap so I can make up my mind. Alr submit my doc to apply loan n lock in 2.6% int for forte 1st. Haha.
When cars come to malaysia everything cut here cut there to make it more affordable -.- but lucky for us most Korean cars still have loads of features and still offer good pricing..T&H cars is the worst for features..
may i know about forte 1.6 sx facelift? is it good? i would like to know from those who already owned this model.
i did have my chance to sit inside in this model and it's really tempting. it makes my vios looks and feel 10 years old already (i bought new vios last year)
i am thinking about this new forte and avante as well. how about naza after sales service is it excellent?

ya, is a shame Sime Darby taking the extra airbag from the Sonata...they really feel our life so cheap...!@#$%^&
that is one of the reason why i don wanna wait for the avante and go for Forte 2.0

normal la to cut down prices..no malaysian made car has more than 2 airbags also anyway cos our lives dont really worth squat..thanks to govt who impose high tax on this and that
Whatever lah, we are here to enjoy the Forte and not to worry about what's available from the other car company. There is enough thread on that in LYN here.

Well, Malaysia considered as a third world country on human rights but buying power is like first world countries... Still, if a car got 20 air bags won't make that car safe when the driver never think of safety......

Our buying POWER is low, since when it's high? and with airbag it do make a difference when shit happens.

Yaa..agreed. We might be a careful, be a defensive driver & always think safety in mind..but someone might not thinking the same & might crash on u..Let say u drive across the 't' junction with a traffic light (green light on your way) & then out of nowhere another car crash on u on your side. If your got extra airbags (say side & curtain airbags), it will deploy to protect u. At least u got some sort of protection when someone crash on your sideways. & in this case, the extra airbags do make a difference.
if Gurun production is to cater SEA market, i don't see we need to worry. for sure the QA is tip top
ok if they threat all equally... but what happen if, SEA market do it cun2... MSIA market cincai2 dah laaa... u know la everything is possible in bolehland...
not by SA... bought from forumer... original from Korea.... kot.... heh... btw, i'm from kuantan... the showroom is at Jln Bukit Ubi.... 2 weeks of waiting only.... yeah...

Falken tyre is quiter and softer. Overall comment is satisfied with what i'm purchased!

1. You mean those dealer + service centres kind? Dont need to get from those, u can get from anywhere, up to u. If you're referring to those dealer that provide good after sales service i'd recommend serdang raya branch (opposite caltex station), look for vincent lim (012-6884923). You can tell him Malcolm recommended you. 2. Up to you but i think usually the package not really worth it and takes longer time to get your car compared to if you do yourself. GOod thing is less hassle. If u dont mind the longer wait for installing the bodykit (may take up to a week extra, best u ask the sales agent). 3. Freebies I got were standard: a. touch and go RM 10 preloaded card b. mud flap (didnt get it at the time, no stock, dont really need it at the moment) c. tint voucher RM 500 worth if not mistaken for raytech i think, didnt use, go for other brand tint d. steering lock e. "K" emblem front and back (to replace the "Naza" logo and the front and back of the car. f. Door visor
I think that's all the freebies i got. some got more, some got less, some didnt get any. Depends which SA you get. Vincent gave me all the above i mentioned, so if you're ok with those freebies, suggest u deal with him. Very good, efficient and honest agent.

I had encounter a problem with my forte recently. there is a gla gla gla sound when i accelerate my car in between 40km to 60km per hour. I cant pin point where does the sound came from and the sound is loud enough to hear in the cabin. Normally my car need to travel for 15 min only the sound will eventually came out. i suspect is from the engine. Anybody encounter such issue? any recommendation on which service center to go and person to look for. Kinda need some advice here.

U gonna regret changing to this 912, i have used this 215/45/18 size, its horrible, should have spend a bit more for PS3 at least
fren, why you said so? what's the problem u faced when u used 912, mind to share? But from tyre review that i read is quite ok for ZE912 provided is cheaper than others (<rm300). of coz cant compare with PS3, but price is exp (>rm450).

How do you guys take care of your leather seats? Any product to recommend? Is it just me or it feels like the Silverstone tire on new Forte is a little more quieter?
Is the windscreen of Forte really a little greenish after tint? My tint shop says Forte windscreen has sort of green hue, that's why after tinting it looks a little green!

Buddy, you can send back your car to SC.. Have some part inside the dashboard din't lock well..
Thanks, I'll go and have it checked on my 1K service. Only if it's a simple fix though, I don't want them to dismantle the dashboard and introduce a new one. The sound seems like it has gone away today. Probably because it's raining and cooler today?
Anyway, my SA promises me emblem, full tank, steering lock, tint voucher (useless), smart tag. But I only got the full tank. Excuses:
Steering lock / emblem - No stock right now, and no money to buy yet. Wait till his salary come out. Smart tag - He said now that, only if I buy the body kit with him.
Do you guys to choose which insurance to buy? My SA simply get RHB Insurance, and does not even have 24/7 road assistance service.

i went to test drive 1.6 and 2.0 yesterday. I am not sure it's the 1.6 unit has some prob with the transmission or 1.6 is really that underpower, it feels really not responsive... When pressed, it seems unwilling, and reluctant to drop gear to pickup.
Then in 2.0, it feels so much better, and it will keep drop gear to pick up when i pressed a lil harder. What's the unit of measurement for the fuel consumption reading on the meter? coz i saw it shot up from 15 (or 0.15) to 17(or 0.17) after test drive. Although 1.6 remain about the same at about 9(or 0.9)
In a greater dilemma after test drive. 2.0 is far fetch for me, but 1.6 seems not enough umph...

you actually have two options for the 1.6 -> either use the paddle shifters to downshift manually which is estremely easy and fun to do or if you actually press harder on the accelerator it will drop a gear (unless you're already at a pretty decent speed say 120km/h. I usually use the paddle shifters if i want to have a really good pickup (i'm on 1.6 sx btw). The car doesnt seem to know when to drop a gear that well sometimes but i dont really find that to be an issue since there's shiftronic mode with paddle shifters to play with.

One thing i would like to confirm is whether the paddle shift would work in D mode? Coz i try to down shift with that, but i feel it din down shift at all...

for 1.6, the paddle shifter works only if you move the shift lever to the right side (shiftronic mode) but for 2.0, you can use it in both D mode or shiftronic mode (when the lever is moved to the right). I guess its something special for 2.0 owners (additional feature). Not too big an issue actually even to shift it to the right, you dont even need to press the shift lever button, just push it to the right and you're in shiftronic mode. Want to shift back to D mode? just push it back to the left. Simple as that. Sounds easy right? It is that simple

strange, my uncle in KL drove my car throughout the days when i in KL yesterday(whole day) and today morning..and never complain of underpower...he said my car feels heavy, and is the right choice i get 1.6, which makes him feels much more confident in highway cruise..in the other hand, his daughter bought the Hyundai Avante X20 2.0....he feels that car is very light, although pickup speed easily, but he's not confident in it during highway cruise, my 1.6SX feels for him wins over X20's 2.0.....yet mine is old batch, 4speeder...not 6speeder...

Depends on how deep your wallet is.
Can't really comment on the 1.6L as it's not available in Australia, but the 2.0L is more than adequate for daily driving. The old 4 speed autobox does limit the accelerating potential due to its long ratios, but once you familiarise yourself with the revs you'll learn how to keep the engine within its powerband.
The 2.0L ThetaII, together with the Lancer's engine, is the most powerful engine on paper among the C-segment, but it doesn't really translate to real life performance. The 3's and Civic's engine produce lower numbers yet they are equally as quick off the line, no thanks to our Forte's gear box and late-peaking torque curve. The new 6 speed box should improve on this with shorter ratios, and numberswise it does seem to improve the century sprint by 1 second. Nevertheless, whether it really makes a significant, noticeable improvement in real-life situations remains a subjective opinion.
Peak torque comes in at 4200rpm and to maintain the acceleration you'll often need to keep the revs above 3000, which results in higher noise levels and of course, FC.
Don't be bothered about the FC reading shown on the computer - it depends on when it calculates it. If you reset it and recalculate while you're cruising on highways, you'll easily get 6-7L/100km. On average the 2.0L drinks 9-10L/100km for a mixed range, around 6-7 for frequent long-distance highway drives; but if you're constantly stuck in jams don't be surprised if it reaches 12.
At the end of the day, it goes back to how much does your wallet carry. If you can afford the higher selling price, costlier road tax, greater FC, go for the 2.0L. Otherwise the 1.6L should suffice - most of the 1.6L owners here are satisfied with the performance, although it's still worth mentioning that the Forte is not a sports car so don't expect kidney punching-accelerations.

thanks man. for sure 2.0 has enough power for me but i may not have the financial means to get the 2.0. Would be good if the 1.6 could be a bit more responsive. I will go for another test drive. I really hope it's the test car having some problems. Handling is good, and i actually like the 1.6 hydraulic sterring more coz the electric one a bit unpredicatable suddenly light suddenly heavy as speed varies although i know its a feature....

try out the paddle shifters next time, you can do wonders with it. gear down, accelerate to 4-5k rpm, then only shift up. you will feel the surge of power.
i just got my Forte 2.0, you can try Sunway Mentari City Ruby, go find Jason, very good seller and good freebies, if u want HP pm me. tell him intro by Mr. Cheong

Snake oil. If all these kuchi-lek MLM companies (i think it's a Cosway product) can make magic formula like this, dun you think all the giant petrol companies can buy over them easily and makes the most fuel economy petrol in the world and put it's competitor out of business??? LOL.

Hello guys. I've just registered to be one of the forte fans although I haven't got mine yet. The decision making hasn't come to its end..whether to get cruze 1.8. mazda 3 1.6 or forte 2.0 sx. The heart says forte after the test drive, some researches on the good and the bad of those three. However, the latest info is the forte spare parts are pretty much expensive..especially after the sale service. Is it true? Can someone please help me....I need to buy a brand new car before raya.

Hi, let me help you out here since I have done my shopping for more than 1 year before deciding on the Forte 1.6SX which I will be getting this weekend!
1. Cruze 1.8 - Stylish interior, exterior front agressive but back got some Civic elements in the design, very low sales thus resale value would be low as well. From reviews, performance of engine is somewhat lacking. Brand name of Chevy in Malaysia not accepted by many. Not recommended.
2. Mazda 3 1.6 - Japanese car so quality is there but specs are lower than that of Forte 1.6. It is still using 4-speed gearbox with lower power & torque figures compared to Forte. If you are single or have very young children, it is suitable since the interior space is not that big. Mazda 3 in other countries is always considered a driver's car & highly recommended. If have cash, then can go for Mazda 3 2.0. Resale value of Mazda among all Japanese makes is one of the lowest.
3. Forte 2.0 Forte spare parts expensive? Go to a Service Centre to ask the prices of spare parts to confirm the "latest info" you received.
4. Inspira 2.0 - For around the same price range, you can get a local Lancer only if you can stomach the plain interior with a basic looking CD player, fiddly air-cond knobs and shallow boot. Proton cannot even give a chrome badge on the steering wheel.... save cost and mould out on the plastic - real cheapskate!
Happy shopping & hope you pick the correct choice .... Forte!
Three weeks of searching high and low for the right car, I thought I have picked the right one till the voices saying that I might get problems with the spare parts. well, that will be a problem future ahead, which I don't prefer to think about it.. hihi . But, that's not good right?

Since NAZA already started the production line. hopefully the spare part price will be cheaper a bit. Original part always expensive from any manufacturer. But if you worry about part price, you should not consider CBU car.
Thinking of buying this car for my wife..Last saturday went test drive 1.6sx..not bad...so many features....worth with the value...slightly better than my accord..
got my 2.0 on Monday, for the 2 days drive about 150km, the handling and corner lost to my Pug 308, but overall feel happy with it, a comfort drive especially for the rear seat
Three weeks of finding the right car, I went test drive for peugeot 207. peugeot 308, ford fiesta, kia forte 1.6sx, mazda 3, chevy cruze, mercedes C230k coupe ( 2nd hand) ,kia forte 2.0sx.. I'm avoiding T&H as currently I'm driving innova. Therefore, I must say the right car should be the one which can give me the similar chemistry when I drive my innova. The handling and the grip on the road are my major concern. Today. ..I can start booking my kia... )

Yupp..still in Auto mode for fan speed. So each time u press the A/C button after that (for each driving), the same setting will apply

that's normal i think.. coz even my family's odyssey also like that.. the 1st time u turn on Auto.. it'll be in 'Full Auto' mode. then if u switch to internal circulation, only that particular function is set to manual, others (fan speed, direction of the air flow, aircon on/off) r still in Auto mode.

I think what ahtsong meant is when the Auto mode is on, the car will take outside air. But when he pressed the internal circulation button, the word Auto on the MFD will disappear. That's why he thought the Auto mode will be off and thus said "there's no way to use internal circulation with auto". Btw. I'd also asked the same question and bro izputra, epo and taipan052 answered the Auto mode is still on
**A little bit I understand why ahtsong'd thought like that. He owns an 308, right? 308 is also like that. When you switch to Auto mode, it will default to taking outside air, like Forte. The only different is that when you press the internal circulation button, the Auto mode indicator is still shown.

ya, u know me well....the stupid 308 everytime u need to click on the internal circulation, as it default to outside intake every time u start ur engine.
if in malaysia, u use the outside air intake, CAN DIE....due to all the black black smoke from bus

Out of 10 acc shops, people will be very very friendly to serve you.... Because they make money.... But when you have problems after install their stuffs, 90% of them will deny is their fault..... Good acc shops normally don't do free ads in forums.....

i found that when outsite temp > 31/32C and the aircond temp set to 25C, when using auto mode , the internal circulation wil be activated, but if outsite temp below 30C , in auto mode the internal circulation wil be deactivated.
Guys just now when I was driving. The ESP OFF light came on..then I press the ESP button but it's just remain off. Then I park my car, off and on my engine and the light is gone. Back to normal again. Anyone experience this before? Quite worried as it's a safety feature ><

Nowadays u need to advertise cause of competition. I think sh@rty is doing a good job by taking advantage of the web to improve his business. Now it's a era where the web is king. don't expect to depend on other people to help u promote your shop. If there is people helping you promote it's a plus point. But sellers need to make effort to promote..so sh@rty yr doing a good job!

Now it's a era where the web is king. don't expect to depend on other people to help u promote your shop. If there is people helping you promote it's a plus point. But sellers need to make effort to promote..so sh@rty yr doing a good job!
Well, you are right, 50%..... If an acc business are so good, will the they have the time to do free ads and group bash others that stand in their way?

haha, you are speaking to the wrong guy my fren
we are not demanding for the bee line in our shop
we are not like those that are throwing prices when times are bad.
no use ppl alot, doing no profit business
we are here for profit ( fair share of what service we provide ) , not for charity
so we are here to provide sales and after sales service but at the same time not hurting our profit ( so its a win win )
if u are looking for the cheapest thing in town, i am sorry, sh@rty 5 will not be able to provide it to u
but if you are looking for value for money, than
so bro , time to change your mentality, as rude as i might sound here, i doubt it would affect others view towards me, afterall the person i am replying to is no other than the 'famous ky*eng' , so i doubt they would even be bothered
working ten hours a day doesnt make u richer, than those working 3 hours a day, so acc with lots of work doent mean their business is good , kerja banyak, semua harga cost jual for wat?

Best way to fight troll is just to ignore them. Just let him be. No need to quote his sentences.
^Totally agree with you on this.... Don't know who is that acc shop operator that curse others because of his father's mistake and got his HU stolen....
Hmmm.... shall we call it Kia Forte and cut off the Naza word?
Naza is just a lousy company which earn easy money with their bloody ap liciense...
Would u call a vios as UMW toyota vios? Carriage and cycle mercedes benz S-class?
Not to mention that UMW and any other car dealer has a much better name than the bloody Naza which try to apply their name in front of every single Kia car that they had totally destroyed by their lousy services....
So... please stop calling it Naza Kia Forte....Kia Forte always sound much better and give ppl a much better impression...

Well, it is ehem company.... And because of the 30% policies, every company that wanted to bring their car in must be partially owned by someone.... So, in other sense, we have to thank them also on this, if not, we will be forced to buy Proton only.....

Then u should thanks to Tun dato sri datuk doctor mahahir for starting both the Proton and the AP liciense policy lo....even the 30% bumiputra policy also done by him which doesnt really give any benifit to the country and it is a huge draw back to go international.... and chase all those invester away...
