Just come across a old SG Kia Forte review in funny way.
http://www.sgcarmart.com/news/review.php?AID=96

I do agreed in most of the review points there, except the "cheap plastic" interior. I do not have a chance to sit in and touch feel SG version Forte, but so far I find MY version Forte interior plastic is just fine and decent, and even better compare to some of her counterparts that fall within similar price range.

What you think?

Dear all Fortezen... heard quite a few issue on the start/stop button failure. I'm looking forward to buy a 2.0SX n scare tis issue is not solve. By the way it is due to remote battery weak or brake sensor problem? For me... if it is remote battery weak then it is fine bcoztis is normal wear n tear... in the other hand... if it is brake sensor failure then i would consider it is manufacture defect. Last qs... normally how long the remote battery will last?

The switch may stuck once in a blue moon, you can use alternative way to start the car (press start button twice and hold for 10 sec) as long as your car key is with you, just ask SC to apply some lubricants in your next service. Start/Stop button or switch malfunction is not common.

Forte still new in the market with less than 2 years, I think we do not have enough statistic to tell how long the key battery will last. Any way, that battery is not expensive to replace and there are no reason to worry about how to start the car during weak battery, that situation has been considered with the workaround to insert entire key into the key slot.

Stay tuned, members here is very helpful and always post the tips of the car. Of course, there are a poisons too that may burn a big hole in your wallet. biggrin.gif

That defeats the purpose to keep 17" spare tyre while all your 4 wheels in 16". Unless you ready to give out your extra 17" for free. biggrin.gif

um... i would like to the brand... and if they allow us to use our own preferred brand... ?

can't seem to find that info on the 1st page...

I went to Puchong SC, they are using Petronas and Naza own brand. Sri Serdang using Shell. Don't think they will entertain your own bring lubricants. I do heard about someone told in the forum that they manage to negotiate with the SC and SC can put in your own bring engine oil, but you need to bought their engine oil. Nevertheless, what you going to do with that extra engine oil?

No bad feeling. We should have listen to both side stories, regardless good or not. So that the potential buyers visiting this forum can make the right choice on what they looking for. I like decent demanding people, because them can pursue for higher quality services.

Got summore:

-Bluetooth
-17" wheels
-Steering audio controls
If you're buying a Forte, you won't go wrong with the SX. The things you mentioned above, almost all can't be changed aftermarket. Even if you did, won't have the same OEM quality and feel lol... So think twice before going for EX. The difference in price between EX and SX is not as great as between SX and 2.0SX.

The things I feel are really worth it are (in order of importance):

-Push start button (you haven't used it you won't realize how useful it is, but once you've had it you will hate keys lol)
-Reverse camera on the rear view mirror
-Bluetooth
-Steering audio controls
-Paddle shift
-Folding mirrors

All the above will spoil you for your next car purchase lol...

There are also some security features that cannot neglect in SX, e.g. ESC, TCS.

Hey Fortizens,

Im surveying cars now and found Kia Forte and fell in love with it.. lol..

So since I realised how awesome Kia Forte is and the reasonable price vs specs, I've been looking for Forte's  on the road..

I realised that the cars have Naza logo on it instead of Kia's? Is that the original badge? Is there Kia Forte and Naza Forte like Peugeot 208 and Naza 208? Im a lil confused here.. hehehe.. I tried to google Naza Forte but all that came up is Kia Forte.

Naza just rebadge Kia, as same like Naza rebadge Peugeot emblem. In the nutshell, that is Kia Forte. cool2.gif

Make your USB hub as "Pen Drive Changer"!
user posted image

Found this 4 ports USB hub with individual switch, you can plug this in your car, attached with few pen drives then use that on/off switch to manipulate around it.

User Experience:
- It cannot auto trigger on the player as what it normally does when we plug in the thumb drive into the slot.
- Some time may encounter USB read error, you have to retry it once or twice.

May I know what’s the step to use the push start button?
Somebody told me that step to the brake, then press the button.
Somebody say that press the button first, then step the brake, and press the button again.

Normally we using the key, we will turn to standby mode, after all the light is gone, then we start the engine.
*
Normal Way:
1. Press Start button once
2. Press Start button again, wait for a while for it to complete check up routine (like what u said, wait till some light indicators gone)
3. Step on the brake and press start button to start the engine

By Pass (if the switch struck/mulfunction on step 3 above)
1. Press Start button once
2. Press Start button and hold it for 10s, engine will start.

hey guys,im considering a forte 1.6,i dun mind resale value much, coz planning to keep it long term(9 years)
but how is the spare part price?since im keeping it long term smile.gif as compare to vios/city

I think Korean spare parts is more expensive compare to Japanese cars, because less OEM/Recon part options. If you use original parts from the SC, it should not have much different compare to Japanese car spare parts.

I come across a shop named Korean CarMates (http://www.korean.com.my/), they claim they are Korean car professional offer reasonable price for service and parts, maybe they are the alternative of Kia official SC. Anyone send the car there before? Any comments?

Japanese took more than 10 years to change milo-tin image to current reputable world class car manufacturer. Korean car is now closely pursuit behind, it just need some time to prove their capabilities. The bottom line is you really enjoy the drive, and it worth for every cents you paid.
