sigh. called them 'cos i've been getting dummy ips but they keep saying my problem was a frequent disconnection problem 'cos in my history / log on their side it looked like i was disconnecting all the time except i was doing it manually. the dead ips don't work at all and i have to manually disconnect and connect until i find one that works.

so the technician came today and i am now getting around 3mbps when yesterday at 3am i was still getting 4mbps.

the technician called me and said i needed to downgrade my line also. CRAZY STREAMYX PPL. if i had to downgrade, this wouldn't happen now 3 months after having streamyx 4mbps. it should have shown from the start. if only they would look on their side and not say it's the customer's fault all the time.

i just spoke to 100 to complain that the technician downgraded my line and that it is NOT A frequent disconnection problem OR an unstable connection but that it is a dummy IP problem - in other words, i get connected to IPs that don't work and i have to manually disconnect and connect until I find a working IP...

so frustrating.

Just upgraded my 1mb to 4mb yesterday, now waiting for the tech to come to my house setting all those stuff, thank god my place there still got one available port for 4mb, if not then the only upgrade package i can get is 2mb laugh.gif...hopefully my line won't be trouble so much, my current 1mb package is running well all the time with max speed of 1.4mb (most of the time) and never got DCed smile.gif

Hi Guys!

Im not sure how do I check if my my line can support 4 Mbps. Im currently using 1 Mbps. Please help!

Downstream Upstream
SNR Margin (dB): 30.3  28.5
Attenuation (dB): 14.5  7.5
Output Power (dBm): 12.4  19.2
Attainable Rate (Kbps): 21076  1205
Rate (Kbps): 7168  509
*
Your port is already synced at 7168kbps/509kbps!

That's double of what you're going to subscribe.

Looking at your attenuation: 14.5dBm, you're more than qualified for 4mbps even 10mbps is possible.

**Additional info
You're not gettting 4mbps yet is because your login account is still restricting you with 1mbps speed. Once you upgrade, TM will open up your login ID to increase your download speed.

How does one change the login ID in order to get 4MB speed?

Technician came to my house to upgrade to 4MB line 3 weeks ago, but now still stuck at 1MB. Called them many times and they don't know how to fix it.
He came again and still can't fix it. They say that my line can certainly accept 4MB.

Now, I'm thinking this could be the problem.

Of course you can't change yourself. That will in breach of TM's contract. You should only get what you pay for.

If you post your modem's stats maybe people will be able to help you.

For muffdiver's case, he line is already more than enough for 4mbps but his account is limiting his speed. If you believe TM has set your line accordingly, then go borrow your friend/relative's 4mbps login account to try out.

Your line speed is capped correctly. Account's that not right. Give a call to TM technician and ask him to lend you his HIS account to use temporarily. Say you really in need of it and try to give all sorts of excuses. laugh.gif

When the installer came to my house to initial setup of my 4Mbps, he used a account with the username 'hsi_test@streamyx'.. Unfortunately, i haven't managed to save the password for that account.. only username available... tongue.gif I donno what's the speed cap for that account.. probably more than 4Mbps... brows.gif

Wow thanks bro for the tip. Will try this out.

Unfortunately, the technician that I got is super noob. Imagine, 3 weeks after upgrading, he still can't find a way to solve this problem.
He says it's Telekom server's fault. rclxub.gif

So the technician came to my house again and after much figuring out he said the internal wiring in my house is bad and that the copper wire is black. But since he came the line is worse for wear - surfing is not up to speed, speedtests show 2-3mbps but torrents are decent at 404kbps.

So am wondering whether I should call the wireman to check on my house tomorrow - what do you think?

SNR is at 7-11db
Line Attentuation around 48.7

Wow. Thanks for the info biggrin.gif I actually left my house immediately when I read your message to the TM Point but the bloody queue was so bad. Was waiting for almost 2 hours and my number didn't even move. Plus it was only 7 spots away. cry.gif

Anyhow, managed to get my account submitted online instead of waiting in queue.

hi guys,

I'm currently on 1mbps.
here's my modem status

there's a friend of mine live really close (less than 2km sight distance)to my house, he has 2048 rate line, but on 512kbps package,
so is that line possible for 2mbps? (expected the speed would be 1.5-1.8mbps)
If you are telling me the best way is to go nearest TM branch to ask, forget it, there's a staff who only in charge for streamyx applications, he will give me the answer "only 512k" -.- (already 2nd time I asked after few years since I use my 1mbps), he lied to customer fastest only 512k available but 1mbps user everywhere, dam guy

Currently emailed TM support, they asked for my area and phone number to check, I don't expect much, also dont expect if it's available, just want try to do something to know the right answer from them if I can upgrade to higher speed.

my office also has 2048 rated line, but on 1mbps package, I can't really find a fren who has 2mbps or 4mbps , lend the account to test if it can achieve at least 70-80% of 2mbps speed.

You line is already sitting on a 1.5mb port. That means you can apply for 1mb anytime you want. As about 2mb, i can see your line has no problem getting to that but it is very likely your surrounding area has no facility to go for 2mb and above probably because of no demand. In simple, your area does not have 2mb and 4mb port.
