hi guys,

I'm currently on 1mbps.
here's my modem status
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

there's a friend of mine live really close (less than 2km sight distance)to my house, he has 2048 rate line, but on 512kbps package,
so is that line possible for 2mbps? (expected the speed would be 1.5-1.8mbps)
If you are telling me the best way is to go nearest TM branch to ask, forget it, there's a staff who only in charge for streamyx applications, he will give me the answer "only 512k" -.- (already 2nd time I asked after few years since I use my 1mbps), he lied to customer fastest only 512k available but 1mbps user everywhere, dam guy

Currently emailed TM support, they asked for my area and phone number to check, I don't expect much, also dont expect if it's available, just want try to do something to know the right answer from them if I can upgrade to higher speed.

my office also has 2048 rated line, but on 1mbps package, I can't really find a fren who has 2mbps or 4mbps , lend the account to test if it can achieve at least 70-80% of 2mbps speed.

You line is already sitting on a 1.5mb port. That means you can apply for 1mb anytime you want. As about 2mb, i can see your line has no problem getting to that but it is very likely your surrounding area has no facility to go for 2mb and above probably because of no demand. In simple, your area does not have 2mb and 4mb port.

ok thanks, smile.gif, actually there's alot ppl here intend to get better speed than 1mbps, too bad, many years until now still no news sad.gif

jealous of you guys, can apply 4mbps or unifi,

sad.gif I've been waiting for more than 5 years,
the only hope is recently told by TM via email that my area will have 4mbps in end of November 2011,

but really unlikely IMO, so far my area no one has 4mbps

it's a small border town, but actually got many ppl here really need faster than 1mbps, demand should be high gua

last week I went to Bandar Seri Begawan at JPMC, use their public WiFi on my Optimus 2x, omg both download and upload speed burst to 20mbps, so this is the feeling to use UniFi VIP 20...

they won't inform u or listed in the area list
i live in a small town too
if i didn't saw the blockbuster package and go to TM and apply the 4Mbps
i also dn't know my area have 4Mbps
u gotta go to different TM to try apply it and yes...different TM shop will give u different answer
if you're in small town, try travel to city's TM..there must be a few there, try all of it if needed
*
may I know where are you from?

my place really small, but quite many ppl here, only 40km away from Brunei border to Bandar Seri Begawan by car, there's only one TM branch, and it's less than 3km "road length" to go there, I've no idea where is the exchange, going to town center from my house surely less than 3km, lol

search Pekan Limbang to see how small it is, lol

very unlikely 4mbps will come to such small rural area, but TM told me by email will be available in end of Nov,

so,at least, there's a little hope smile.gif

Thank you for your reply. Firstly, we would like to apologise for the late reply.

With regards to your port availability for 4Mbps service, upon receiving feedback from our respective department, please be informed that the Streamyx port availability for 4Mbps service will be available on 31st December 2011
last time enquiry, they replied me that the port maybe available at end of Nov, so I email them asked again on Nov 23, today got reply from them, this time give me port availability date, dunno is real or not but better than nothing

there's a little hope I can apply something faster than current 1mbps, I better pray now, but don't expect too much la, haha

I'm really sick of using 1mbps speed for 5 years

yesterday went to TM branch pay electric/water bills/internet bills, also asked the staff about 4mbps availbility, she told me that very very soon, cant really confirm for me but definitely available next year, which is quite match the email reply I got from TM support (available on dec 31 2011)

so I think it's really coming soon, now hope I can get DSL line capped on at least 4.5-5mbps, so I can get at least 3.8mbps above,

what're you guys 4mbps speed? I just pray at least get 3.8mbps above

I won't worry about the distance, cos my home/housing area to the town center is like less than 2.5km far, a small town though

Morning.

Surveyed Unifi and found out we cannot bypass fileshare blocking sites.

I guess I'll be using Streamyx 4MB package again.

This time I won't sell the Dect phone; rented a new apartment  biggrin.gif

*
where did u see/ hear that from?

no such thing

my fren UniFi bypass works just well by only changing dns ip in Windows network settings to google dns or opendns

works fine though, maybe someone just do not want you to get unifi smile.gif

Hi. I was told by 100 that the combo 160 has been termonated and replaced by elite160 where calls are no more incld in the package.

This means that one has to pay 160+calls+other fees. Was told to go to tmpoint to complain. Any one of you faced this too?

Thanks
*
combo packages already end very long time ago, currently is Blockbuster, and I think it's still ongoing,

Looks more like a modem hooked directly to a DSLAM port right next to the computer for testing.
8db downstream and 1.4db upstream attenuation. This is after your port was set to 5120kbps?

How can you consistently reach >4.5mbps half way between 4mbps to 5mbps on speedtests and still have close to subscribed speed for overseas server?

If this is not promotional marketing what else?
*
for some reason, 4mbps account level cap at TM is more than 4mbps, not exactly 4mbps,

just like 1mbps account level caps used to be capped at 1.5mbps, so it ends up some user who has their DSL link capped higher can obtain slightly higher speed,

example:
line capped at 512kbps with 512kbps account = less than 500kbps
line capped at 700 or greater with 512kbps account = 500-680kbps
line capped at 1024kbps with 1mbps account = get less than 900kbps
line capped at 1536kbps with 1mbps account = get around 1.100-1.35mbps
line capped at 2048 or greater with 1mbps account= get from 1.4mbps but less than 1.8mbps
(in some cases, getting 2mbps account with line capped at 2048 is pointless, the time when 1mbps still has bonus speed)
line capped at 4096kbps with 4mbps account = get around 3.8mbps
line capped at 5000 or greater with 4mbps account = so far I've seen the highest is 4.8mbps

2mbps accounts I got no idea cos most of users streamyx I've seen are 512kbps,1mbps and 4mbps

most common DSL line caps
1024
1536
2048
4096
who get more than 4096 really lucky

take note that: TM took back all 1mbps users bonus speed by account level from 1.5mbps to 1.0mbps since last year September. now all 1mbps users have average 1.0mbps regardless of having higher capped DSL line than 1mbps. 4mbps still remain same as before. Reason? I guess you all know that, most streamyx users in whole malaysia are 1mbps, by taking back their bonus speed, our ISP save alot bandwidth sad.gif

hi all
contractor just come a moment ago

he changed my account to 4mbps, maybe,
he told me test again after 24 hours, but i dont know if that 24 hours upgrade is my DSL upgrade or not

since my DSL line is rated at 2048/512, this is what I get at the moment, really exactly is the speed I expected on 2048 rate line

DSL line rate minus 200+kbps = your maximum speed

user posted image

Constant download speed= 220kB/s

If upgrading my DSL port is not possible, I think I've to downgrade to 2Mbps liao T.T sad

WTA 4mbps users normally how you all upgrading to 4mbps?
the whole process?

for mine

contractor come,
-login his "tm web for staff only"
-login my modem
-key in my modem snr, attenuation into his TM login paged
-shown my service number activated in the TM web page
-attempt to do speedtest.net but for some reason, speedtest stuck at startup that time, so he stopped doing the test
-the contractor told me later do speedtest when I'm free, if after 24 hours still not able to reach at least 80% of 4mbps, call 100

so what I did:
-test speedtest, speed is 1.75mbps /0.42mbps
-checked my modem, line still capped at 2048/512
-a day past, until now, my dsl line still capped at 2048/512
-called 100, support told me because it still under technician warranty, ask me to call back to him. (hmm?)

I haven't called him yet, before do that, just want to ask any 4mbps users here how you all got your 4mbps upgrade? how long does it take? got any problems like mine? and how do you solve it?

thankyou

wow, ur upgrade done so easily,

account should be 4mbps already, cos i was upgraded from 1mbps,

now just the physical line is still capped at 2m, not 4m sad.gif

it's much hassle to request them to change my dslam port,

btw the technician didnt answer my call cry.gif

R u now on 4mbps package? Is it activated? Check with 100. If yes, told them that ur line port capped at 2mbps. Ask them to change the port to 5120.
*
it should be activated, cos i was on 1mbps, now i am able to reach 1.7mbps, just port limits my speed

and 100 asked me to call back the technician because still under 1 week warranty,

sad.gif

they said unless it is out of warranty period with the technician, then 100 support will help to solve my problem

QUOTE(hairuLeZ @ Mar 11 2012, 05:44 PM)
U need to double confirm it with 100. If they not activate it, means the technician not doing their work. Basically the flow its like this:

1) Call 100 requesting upgrade 4mbps
2) Technician come and perform the speed test (they will ask 100 to change ur port to 4096-5012 first before testing)
3) If the test ok, technician will confirm the upgrade by updating the TM website, mips IINM.
4) TM will activate ur 4mbps package.

Basically, u need to wait for 24h for ur new speed activated. Some activated on the spot. Some after reboot the modem/router.

So here, if the technician do not know on the waiting time, and the test failed, they just told you that ur line cannot support. It so happened to me. Since I know my SNR and attenuation is good, I asked them to confirm on the upgrade. Sigh.. I need to explain them on those SNR and attenuation.

After 15 minutes and rebooting my modem, my speed upgraded to 4.3mbps. Stable until now.
*
from 100, my account indeed activated, is subscribed as 4mbps start from this month
still need to call the incharge technician cos i just upgraded recently

just called that technician, he'll see how then at TM tomorrow,

seems like 4mbps not possible for me now sad.gif
