wow just in time for a question: how to disable the default screen lock? I want the pattern screen lock but don't want to unlock 2 times zzz (first time is the default slide to unlock, 2nd is the pattern lock i set...)
and please, don't ask me to google. I did, and browsed alot, none helped (what nolock, antilock, lockbot.... ) these just disabled everyting all together (including the pattern lock) |

I'm positive that there is a setting in your Privacy tab that changes your unlock type. Should have pattern/noneand please, don't ask me to google. Ooo question thread .. I want to know why root / flash will void warranty. If it void warranty means it has to be illegal right?
Why some apps in the market require us to root our phone? So google wants us to do illegal stuff? Am I misunderstanding anything? I know root means gaining super access and flashing is like totally changing everything ... or actually rooting is not illegal .. only flashing is illegal ? |

It's not illegal in the sense that it will land you in jail.
Void warranty because when ppl root their phones, they do crazy things with it. Doing these crazy things without fully understanding it will sometimes result in a spoilt phone that cannot be repaired by means available to the user. The term for this kind of situation is that the phone is 'bricked'. Under the warranty agreement, usually there's a clause that says the warranty is void if some form of modification has been performed. Imagine you're a manufacturer, and ppl keep returning these phone cause they do something that they're not supposed to do. Will you repair it? It will cost money to repair these phones one you know. |

Rooting is like Monopoly's get out of jail free card. You can use it anytime you feel locked up. Rooting to me however, doesn't really serve any purpose. I flashed my phone so i didn't bother to not root it. Since flashing already voids my warranty, why not root it too?

Officially 2, Android Market and Amazon Appstore...
AppBrain is actually an app finding website... ultimately it will still lead u back to Android Market... Amazon Appstore is basically the same as Android Market, but of course u need an Amazon account to download an apps... there are work arounds to Amazon Appstore, juz google for it... i ve done that and already got 6 apps from Amazon... |

hello everybody..been googling around and none of them talking the question bared in my mind
im a in a jump from windows mobile phone to an android phone.. as far as i know, BBM requires that you are connected to a blackberry internet service (BIS).do android phones support BIS to get BBM? and do they need special 'hardware' integrated in it? scared if it need to ' hardwarely upgrade' before BBM can be functioned..so its better to have a WAIT for that phones instead of buying android now.. p/s>> and i know, we can use a cross-platform chatting application like Whatsapp that works the same way as BBM. |

sadly enough contact sending via sms is not natively supported by android.

Anyone knows how to fix this? My phone works well while connecting to my home WIFI. But when I go outside and connected to open network (example WIFI at McDonalds) I always got this error message 'Error fetching data. Not trusted server certificate', I can't browse webpage and use apps like Facebook at all.

If by firmware you mean RUU,
firmwares are region coded because they contain radios specific to a region. Like an Asian ROM would have a radio best suited for the Asia region (even Asia ROM also can be sub-divided into ROMs for each country, like HK, S'pore, Taiwan etc to name a few common ones). Not that an European ROM wouldn't work in Asia, just maybe the radio performance might not be the best the manufacturer thinks it can be. And some regional RUUs are carrier specific, meaning it contains carrier specific bundled softwares. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. |

I activate my wifi hotspot, then connect my PC wirelessly to the phone. Successfully connected and assigned IP, but I cannot browse. All websites time out. What's wrong? Is there any requirement for the PC wireless adaptor? PC can connect perfectly to Linksys wireless router.

Hi guys .. i'm surprised there's no general "Apps recommendation" thread .. anyway i owned an ipod touch before i got my DHD so i can't help but to compare apps from appstore and market ... I'm looking for the following types of apps:
Air Sharing - An app which is protected by password and can open all microsoft files, pdf, photos and videos. Packing - An app that lists out what to pack. i'm start to wonder if my HTC IS GPS is not working because it keeps on showing @ the place i stayed....... even if i toggle the GPS on outside (open area), the GPS keeps on searching & locating never ending.......zzzz... can any1 tell me how do i test my GPS or i'm too dumb to use it

hi guys, would like to ask.. previously am using bb with celcom bis, now converting to android. if i were to use the same simcard and package, would there be any further internet charges?
question is, is BIS package from Celcom is the same as Unlimited Data plan? |

Hi guys,
I'm using HD2 coredroid v1.6 with hspl 4 using 8GB micro SD card with FAT32 but found a problem , when i copy file using usb connection i seem hang there and the screen of hd2 blackout after i reboot it say that sd card mounted read only, it seem like can't copy file larger than 50MB >< any1 help? what is the problem actually? |

The newer HTC Android phones have Android Market preinstalled already, unlike the HTC Hero days where you need to do extra stuff to get Market.

hi, just got my ace for a month only, right now i'm facing prob 'apps cannot install in sd' error. i google around and found solution which is to unmount sd, install apps and mount sd again. but if my apk is in sd how to do? i have rooted my phone and enable move2sd. i've tried to set move2sd to external, still cannot install apps...

Basically all the apps u can use. The only problem is u might get some bug / glitch ..
Just that some games are specifically make for high end devices. (e.g Some games are made for Tegra devices) |

^android market has lots of free games that does not involve any kind of user modification to install.
In fact, androids can install apps from sources other than the market. Meaning, as long as you have the file, you can install it (like on a PC). To combat piracy, it is forum policy to not discuss pirated games. The official channel is thru the market. Good news is that paid apps can be viewed on the Android Market in Malaysia already. |

I'm not proficient on processor architecture, but isn't Android an ARM platform?
Anyway, the problem you see by installing apps not made for tablets is that the UI is not made for the huge screen real estate. Like let's say the twitter app, on the Xoom it will look enlarged with a lot of unused space. It's not stretched, the font size is still the same and the app still fills the screen. Just that the boxes become larger and thus having a lot of empty space. Until devs make tablet-specific versions of the app, you'll need to live with that. |

i wan to connect through my university punya network using proxy (with password) i edited using the advanced network config. it does work but onli for stock browser. anyway to make it work for other browser as well as apps? |

Then you select a pic for wallpaper, the orange box come out. Drag one of it's edges until the box fills the picture. Tap save.

When I click on a notification of someone commenting on my photo, i can only view the comment with a small thumbnail of the photo on the top. I wanted to view the original size of the photo but there is no option for that unless I tap back abd go to the photo album manually. any know how? |

guys. i have situation. it concerns my Motorola Charm.
I bought it from Brightstar set. Very new. The problem sets up when the keypad light * which is blue * never stops lighting up. Usually, it stops lighting when I lock the phone. But it still doesnt stop. It decreases my battery. I somehow think it s technical problem. I want to exchange it but how? |

Hey, I was wondering if anyone here can help me out.. I got a LG Optimus 2X. The problem is, how do I exit programs/apps on the phone? Some of them don't have the exit buttons..
For example, the music player, if I played a song and now I want to go back to my home screen, do I just press the home button? or back button? I've come across something about android phone will shut down the apps after a while.. Is that true? |

Hi all
if not mistaken,my phone start tis week cant connect to college wifi although i try forget the network and connect again,also same i even try on tge next day to connect college wifi and turn off and on the phone and try,also same but the weird thing is,my fren and me also connect the same wifi with me with using samsung galaxy ace,he has no problem on connecting college wifi and only my house wifi no problem on connecting wifi so,i hope all of you can help me solve the problem,coz is very boring with the phone that got problem in connecting college wifi *using stock rom v10f and stock kernel,no flash any custom thing Regards |

i'm not sure what you're talking about. Factory resets will not touch the SDcard. Whatever on the SDcard will be untouched.
I dunno what will happen to apps saved to SDcard, but they will most likely be left untouched. Don't take my word for it though. |

Regarding Titanium Backup app: I got occasional freeze at some point when doing batch restore/uninstall so I want to uninstall it to get another version. Will the already backup-ed app files and its system data get deleted along? Or is it possible to simply run the new apk (same version or maybe pro version) hoping it will overwrite/update the current free version? |

^with stock launcher (except TouchWiz 4.0), you can't. With certain alternative launchers you can.
There's a reason why a 'normal' app drawers doesn't allow you to make folders. App drawers serve as the penultimate way to locate an app because it is always arranged alphabetically. For folder-ing purposes you do it in the homescreen. I guess it's to prevent users getting lost and forgot which folder they placed the app into. |

Yes except for one single Motorola phone. They tried to implement Android without touch controls. I think they scrapped the project.

currently, i'm using X5 without any mem card since it comes with internal 2GB.
now i plan to buy the mem card.. since there are so many brands n diff class of card out there, which one should i get? i wanna get maybe 16GB card with a good speed.. but most important is the reliability of the card and also the price.. since it's for phone usage, i don't think i need super fast card.. maybe class 6 or 8 should be sufficient, right? thanks. |

There's a limit to the phone's read/write speed to the SD card itself. Do check the limitation of the phone first before investing in that class 10. In most devices it is unnecessary to get Class 10.

Hi i just bought my htc wildfire from times square. Ap set. and i need help cause im very new to android.
firstly its running on 2.2 froyo bt i guess its the arab version i think this AP is Arab set because my language selection only have english(arab), english(UAE). no normal english another thing my qwerty i can switch between arab and abc(roman) characters. Is there anyway i can change this??? Secondly i had an appstore app installed bt as i did a factory reset i lost it. Now im trying to download apps from market.android.com with my Google account using my phone bt it says your account is not associated with any android. Pleaseee help thirdly can i get a list of recommended apps for my phone because currently i have only installed papago. and can i know is it necessary to root my phone??? Thanks alot people.  |

^no harm in getting class 10, just saying it's redundant. It's like getting a ferrari to drive in the city. Fancy, but redundant. I'm using class 4 ok only. Don't see how a class 10 would do any good.

After moving apps to SD, I'm still getting Low Memory blockage. Sometimes it is just after installing what should be a small app. Is there any way to tell which apps are filling up the phone memory? My phone is 2.2.1, not rooted.

samsung travel adapter - output : 5.0V == 0.7A huawei power adapter - output : 5.0V == 1.0A anyone know whether i can just use either one of this charger to charge both of my phone? will it cause any problem like inadequate power charge/etc? thanks. |

Thank you smile.gif Custom roms usually more optimized. better performance, battery life etc If you burn your cpu when you OC i doubt the warranty covers it just like when you OC your own desktop. Yes can straight use. apps2sd is needed because some phones have low internal memory. apps2sd allows you to install apps onto the SD card so that your phone memory will not be eaten up. And all the answers to these questions could have been found if you did a little searching.  |

Lol you didn't know it was in the DCIM folder? Even digital cameras's photos are in the DCIM folder. Also, if you upload via your phone, you can see that its via Android. |

I own HTC Desire HD, my software infos are: Android version : 2.3.3 Kernel version : 2.6.35.10-g3bf3222 Build number : 2.37.7-7.3 CL56018 release - keys Software number : 2.37.707.3 1) Now, i want to know if wheter i can root my phone. Because i read in internet that only the firmware version 1.32.405.6 or the lower version can be rooted. Otherwise, we have to downgrade the version back to 1.32.405.6. So what about my phone? Can it be rooted? or there is still no update version for my 2.37 android? 2) Do i need the gingerbreak to root may phone? Or there is new version available now? What i read, the latest available version is 1.20? is it? correct me if i'm wrong. So, can i root my phone? So what is the complete step to root my phone? I rellay wana do it. which im maxis user,take an example if i turn off phone now,then turn it on at later time during the time that my phone off got ppl call me,of coz i can't accept the call during that time so,once i turn on my phone,i receive the maxis message which somebody call u during xx time. but,i only can accept 1 maxis miss call message,which before those i didn't accept the call when my phone turn off all lost so what the problem here ?? o.O hope all of you can understand what i say,if not understand i will explain again ~ Regards |

Usually the launcher will auto refresh the icons. hi experts,
my current phone is SE Xperia X10 mini. Again I just want to quickly summarises everything happened to my phone. I sent for repair two days ago and yet no update from them yet (they asked me to wait for their update) On thursday 06/16/2011 I've plugged in the charger at night for normal charging purpose, and in the next morning, I discovered that: 1) Cannot be turned ON while connected to charger or usb cable / not connected with charger or usb cable - both situation. 2) Cannot be turned ON whether with or without Sim card. 3) Cannot be turned ON with/without SD card. I've tried all of solution options mentioned above. When consulted with some local repairers, 1) Some claimed the battery 2) Some claimed the IC. I am in quite complicated situation, I want to save the phone because we paid quite an amount to it. I enjoyed the phone so much, only to be upset with this sudden turned OFF and cannot be turned ON. Never ever happened before with other phones (Nokia, Motorola, HTC, even earlier sony ericsson products~!) |

Hi all,i duno why i keep fail to update/download application from market
today,angry birds season got update,me from morning already update keep say download unsuccessful or update unsuccessful just now oni finish update it by turn off phone awhile and turn on then update oni work so i continue download my angry birds rio,before tat my phone already installed,but in market say me no install at all so i uninstall it and download again,download unsuccessful again and its work,finish install so in conclusion,how to solve this problem ?? very annoying,oni got problem on certain apps ~ |

hi guys,
i just bought Experia X8 2 days back. kinda new with this android phone and market. so, yesterday, i started downloading a few apps.. well actually around 20. downloading and installing it was a breeze. but after some time i got the message that i am low on space. it seems that it has been installed in my internal phone memory. so my questions are: 1)How do i install it in my card memory?? 2)can i just try to find where is the app folder and and copy it to my memory card?? or must i delete it and download it again and set it to phone memory..which i don't know how to set. please enlighten me here. thank you. |

hi guys... i tried rooting today but didn't work.
this is what i did. i downloaded the SuperOneClickv1.9.5-ShortFuse (i don't know whether this is correct or not but i think it is correct) i went and enable the USB debugging in my phone. i plugged my phone to pc and clicked charge phone and i confirm i didn't mount my card. then, i run the superoneclick app in my PC. it ran and it comes out with ----------------------------------- SuperOneClick v1.9.5.0 Checking drivers... Failed Killing ADB Server... OK Starting ADB Server... * daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 * * daemon started successfully * OK Waiting for device... -------------------------------------------- and then it just hangs... i tried plugging and unplugging and then tried to run the superone click again but still same. what am i doing wrong? what is missing? any steps that i do is wrong? please help me out here. |

hi guys... after i posted the last post. i tried updating my PC Companion.
i didn't install the new PC companion for X8 and i had the old PC Companion. after i did that and i tried to root my X8, i was able to do it!!!! problem solved. so, for those newbies who are going to root their android... please make sure the PC Companion is installed first, make sure you are using Windows 7(if XP, need to install .net framework i think) and also make sure USB debugging is enabled.... confirm can root easily. Added on June 26, 2011, 11:08 pmthe next issue that i am facing now is how to partittion my SD card as the app2sd is asking me to have partitons and it had to be primary. anyone care to explain and assist me? i don't have wifi connection at home so i tried installing MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition and then i formatted my SD and then tried to partition into 2partion FAT32. i set both as Primary but when i use the link2sd app, it is still saying that it cannot find another partition.
don't know why. anyone can help me. |

try sending it as a .zip file, ie zip it, send over then unzip. It's a workaround. Android doesn't send certain files AFAIK.

goof afternoon khalpowers.
i was able to set the second partition as ext2 and also set it as primary. so, now i have 2 partitions. -the first partition is FAT32 which is 6.43GB and set as Primary and Active. -the second partition is Ext2 which is 988MB and also set as Primary but it is not active. (but when i set it as active,the status of the first partition automatically becomes none?! is it correct? should i set the first partition as active and the ext2 as none because its either one only can be set active at one time) |

I need help.
I am using SE Xperia Play, Stock Android 2.3.3 I am trying to add a custom notification ringtone but I am facing problems. I understand that I need to add a media folder, then audio, then ringtones, notifications, alarms folder. I already did that. I choose my custom ringtone from the Sound settings. I click done. Then when I receive an sms the next moment, it plays "Notifications" by Sony Ericsson. WHY?!! I have restarted my phone too... What am I doing wrong? Edited: Ok.. ok... I am so stupid.. good morning everyone,
after so long meddling here and there, i was able to partition my second partition. the first time i tried was formating it to ext2. but i read in the link2app manual kinda thing that it is safe to format to fat32 and i tried. now the app was able to detect and i have SUCCESSFULLY transfered my app to the sd card!!!! -i have downloaded a few games such as Angry bird, Fruit slice and also Abduction, which is quite cool. any other cool games that you guys can suggest for me to download?? -i wanted to download app to view WMA and mpeg video. can you guys suggest a good video player? - and another one more thing, is there any apps to hide my sms? thank you in advance for your suggestions. |

If you're not rooted you can't force delete an app IINM. If all else fails, do a factory reset.

hi there..
android noob here (galaxy mini ss5570 - DXKB1 (xme) )...I have concern on firmware upgrading froyo - gingerbread. My concern:- 1. Should I flash my 1 week froyo to gingerbread? just to make things better? 2. I did some homework thru samfirmware, Tsar3000, android solution etc..but still don't understand? will my mini affected by the region status? 3. There should be 5 files - APBOOT, CODE, CSC, MODEM..but no TASS?.(download from samfirmware) 4. is it safe to use ODIN 4.38? 5. What do I need to do before flashing my mini? backup? what need to be backup?..is it using specific app? 6. Can I downgrade to froyo if the gingerbread dont run? 7. If I brick my phone..is there a way I can save my phone? Appreciate anyone who can assist me..TQVM. |

How many time you've tried? Try using wifi. Are on data plan package? If not better swtich of at setting to prevent extra charge.

hi all sifu.. i got a very noob question.. this is my 1st time using andriod.. i use to use symbian phone.. so its totally a new experience for me.. i wonder.. everytime i click my phone it vibrates.. can i disable the vibration?? thanks all sifu~~

im using Xperia X8 and recently ive update my phone to Rachts Floyo 1.0 FROM xda.. My question is, is IT normal that i dont have Profile setting.. Usually u have it like Wireless n networks Call Setting Cynogenmod setting Sound Profile <---- Display and so on... mine loosing the Profile . Sound Display What could have been wrong? appreciate your help.thanks |

^it has cyanogenmod settings. I believe it's a themed CM rom.

hi.. i don't know if this has been discussed before, i tried to look around but i can't find any..
i created a new Google account (a new Gmail account). then, i want to use it as my primary email account. i have an old Google acc, which i have used for years, and i used it to buy things from Market. now, my question is, how to transfer things from my old acc into the new one? especially the paid apps, am i gonna have to buy them again in order to use my new acc? very appreciated any feedback.. thanks |

the only workaround i can think of it to use the apps account to log into google when the phone first prompts you to. Then add the 2nd account (email one) in the eMail app.
Or see if you can configure the GMail app to use an account other than the primary (apps) account. |

When talking about HTC phones, most users mention "HTC has HTC Sense" without much elaboration (cannot blame them because of my noob-ness). Tried to google it but got a wikipedia page that pretty much says it's a UI for HTC.
Q: What's so good about HTC Sense and how it relates to Android OS? Q: Is HTC Sense really a factor in deciding between HTC and other phones (e.g. Samsung)? |

HTC Sense is HTC's interpretation of the Android OS.
Sense UI is a combination of a few things. It encompasses some feature apps and adjustments to the software as a whole: 1) Mainly the Launcher 2) The famous calander and weather widget that do not work with other launchers 3) The clock app 4) The iPhone-esque magnifying glass (yes vanilla android dun have) 5) The fancy tab-switching mechanism 6) The phone and phonebook 7) Coloured icons in 'Settings'. Basically if you buy a Sense-enhanced phone, you get all those. It's not something you can install in another phone. It only comes with an HTC Android. The eye candy that HTC Sense offers compared to other custom UIs by other brands (Samsung's TouchWiz, for example) does help in decision making. |

guys really need help here
because i just do a factory reset in recovery mode on my custom rom due to have some problem so i use titanium backup to restore the backup that i backup before but, it only help me restore 1 application which total got 30+ now my phone no more problem, but i can't restore application using titanium backup i try off the phone and on again and restore also same what should i do T_T *especially my cut the rope data help !!! |

Well said on the HTC sense stuff but one thing to add is that custom UI like sense and touchwiz takes longer time to have newer versions of android delivered compared to stock phones like nexus one and nexus s.

Hi guys. I'm new here. I've just updated my Samsung Galaxy Ace to 2.3.4 everything seems okay besides the language thingy but I can't power on my phone without a power supply plugged in. hey guys, got a problem here :
In homepage, i accidently pressed camera button. Then it keep changing from [front] & [back] camera. Then i switch off the device, the real problem coming , [The Process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.] keep popping out since then. It's like every 1~5 second it pop out. Searched over xda and google, cant find a good solution. Even wipe /system, wipe cache wipe data , reflash the ROM , redownload and reflash the ROM , flash other ROM.. Currently on : CM 7.1.0 RC1 Samsung Galaxy S I9000 |

you do have clockwork recovery installed, right? It seems the easiest way I've seen is to boot into CWR through ROM manager. Give that a try.

I have a question to ask, currently im on CM7 ROM with HBOOT Bravo CM7 r2... But now I wanna change to Leedroid.. I tried changing the HBOOT to stock or sense, but the Leedroid ROM can't seem to load. I can't seem to find if the Leedroid has it own HBOOT like CM7... so which HBOOT does it work with? or my other setup is wrong? |

Guys,just want to ask your opinion. This software used to work perfectly fine for me. Regardless of 3G connection or WiFi.
After updating via Market, I realised it always freezes and I have to force close the app. However,it works perfectly fine with WiFi. Ive tried uninstalling,and reinstalling , deleting the app folders in SDcard, factory reset my HTC Desire. There is a log file ,I will just post a link here so u can have a look(for those who are familiar with codes) After looking at those codes in the log,I'm beginning to think that, Maxis is to blame. Its 3G connection became slow which resulted in "connection time out" as per reported in the log. (Im just assuming!!) http://www.megaupload.com/?d=X0C3BAPN So, just wondering what would your opinion be. Im dying to have this app. Im heavily dependent on this app for driving. So please, anyone! |

1 more problem, at "Battery Use" , the numbers do not reset after I unplug my charger, usually after unplug, it will say "xm xs since unplugged" , but mine just keep on going, any idea?
after shutdown and restart, took off battery,simcard, SD card, and reboot, it continues the time so now it shows the number of hours the phone is on since I last flashed the ROM.. almost 30hours! please help! This post has been edited by fever003: Jul 28 2011, 06:33 PM |

Honeycomb do use .apk is it? cause i really don't know either or in other words, can a windows based software, the ones that we use on laptops and desktops be run on tablets running an android OS? Hi,
I have quick question. 1) I currently own an xperia neo, and according to the official page, this phone has a total of 512MB RAM. But when I access the application manager, after adding UsedMemory and FreeMemory of the RAM, it only sums up to about 295MB. Is this normal? Android is sucking up that much memory? 2) is it normal that whatever install from the android market is directly stored in the phone's internal storage? And I wonder why the size of the app reduced drastically when I transfer it to SD card? Thank you |

Hello all, I'm a newb when it comes to phones. SO i have this silly question that i want to ask.
I bought a CSL Mi-320 recently. It comes with gps, but it just wouldn't work! When i open the 'Maps' app, my location can be detected if I have Wifi. But what if when I'm driving and i have no data plan? does that mean i can't use GPS at all? I asked the seller, he told me to add RM60 to add an offline GPS. I feel like i got conned for buying a phone without a working offline GPS. Please help me. I really need to use GPS and paying RM60 is a little ridiculous considering I bought the phone for RM4XX |

guys, newbie here. i cant decide, to buy android phones or blackberry. so my question is, do major telcos have prepaid packages/plans for android phone like bb. the one like celcom, rm25/month. or i have to subscribe for postpaid plan. as a student it such a burden for me if my phone expenses exceed 100++/month.

I hour this problem more than 3 times already Which is recently I installed fruit ninja free which download from market Then I off phone and turn on again That fruit ninja free that I downloaded and move to sdcard is gone Which means I go menu > setting > application > manage applications The fruit ninja fee app not showing its game icon, is showing sdcard icon i got this problem more than 3 times Which I turn off phone and turn on again mostly got this problem Is it due to my phone also installed fruit ninja (paid) Because paid version long time no update, free version got update So what should I do? |

1) You can go to your settings > applications there to manage, then click on an app, click move to SD card, you need to wait a while as the moving process takes time.
2) I think there are apps in the market for that, I have not really used it much as it is not accurate. you're better of dialing manually, its still faster |

my samsung galaxy s GT-i9000 has been block because of using screen lock Pattern. My daugther draw it more than 15 times and requires username and passowrd for my gmail account, unfortunately i forgot my username because it was set by the saler from the 1st time i bought my phone...anybody have any solution for that?

Hey guys. i have a HTC Wildfire with Unlimited Data Plan.
i want to buy a tablet that has Wifi option ONLY, not with 3G as i figure that i can use the hotspot function on my wildfire (i've upgraded to froyo) to act as a modem whenever i'm in the non-wifi location. is it recommended to do so? i mean, i don't have experience with any tablet before. so, i would really need to know some thoughts from those who have. or would you suggest me to terminate dataplan on my phone and use 3G tablet instead? i'm a student and i don't really mind bringing tablet whenever i go because as of now i even bring my laptop around with me almost 24/7 including classes and lectures. *tablet here can be anything as long as it's android tablet. as of now i'm only interested with Asus transformer and galaxy tab 10.1 wifi. |

I know all three are running on different OS, it just that i was thinking of getting an IPAD - for tablet use (since i already own an Android phone), but after play it for quite sometimes with my friends Ipad i find it a little too big for a tablet. Any tablet that comes with normal "book size", easily customizeable (popular so it has a lot of so call 'updates' both official and in xda? )Just want to survey for the best tablets. Hope you guys don't mind to throw in a few reviews if you ever stumble upon one. p/s : I've read playbook reviews in LYN, it seems that playbook are quite neat and fully featured. Any tablet that comes with normal "book size", easily customizeable (popular so it has a lot of so call 'updates' both official and in xda? )Just want to survey for the best tablets. Hope you guys don't mind to throw in a few reviews if you ever stumble upon one. p/s : I've read playbook reviews in LYN, it seems that playbook are quite neat and fully featured. Been using the TF with 3G over the past week or 2, I like it. I have some issues whether default browser or others (eg Dolphin) - i have problem with some pages. a) for Facebook, certain apps just keep refreshing itself until I turn of Javascript. then the functionality goes bye bye, so I have to on JS again to do a bit of changes. then it goes back to the refreshing. (I'll probably video it to give better understanding)b) in pages like Google+, when I mouse over the notifications, the drop-down menu appears behind the other content - pretty much un-usable unless i go to google.com (the search engine). ---------- I wonder if the above is an Android problem. cos I really expected OS from Google to work well with Google's stuff. =========== PART 2 ============= What do you guys use to play MKV files? 720p videos still lag like silly. I've also bought Plex, and it works fine as it streams from my HTPC ....... but it works fine because the Plex server lowers the quality to like 480p or so. and subtitles go missing. So yeah - what do you guys use to play MKV? and if you're using Plex, how do I get my subtitles? |

so desperate. I want to get some help, am I posting at the right topic? I am using Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000. Here is my problems:1. I exchanged twlauncher.apk and removed .odex (I backup a copy of .odex) 2. After I had replaced, my home button doesn't work but showing Force Close towards twlauncher 3. So I decided to try to root my phone, even with Android SDK & ADB they won't detect my galaxy tab (Used Droid Explorer & Android Commander without Kies condition) 4. But I had failed to root (no experience + less guidance on GOOGLE) 5. Then I try to go for Power + Volume Up + Home mode...which is also ClockWorkMod 6. I chosen Wipe Cache, now my tab is in dead condition It won't boot up passing the Samsung logo & it won't charge anymore. Any experienced or pros here, kindly guide me. Sigh~ I thought of get rid of tab's ugly icon backdrop. End up bricked my tab |

erm, wireless streaming is definitely not laggy. wifi connection speed is more than enough for streaming and i've been doing that for quite a while.
i can even play 1080p MKV on my htpc with content placed on other machine, accessed via wifi with no issues.back to this, till date the supposedly BEST player, Moboplayer, is still unable to play 720p MKV smoothly. Subtitles also missing. Very disappointed with Android on this aspect so far. |

hey there..
i'm using a samsung galaxy S i9000 phone running android 2.3.3 gingerbread. not rooted not flashed. still in ori condition. Normally the bottom part of the phone has a bar containing "Phone, Contacts, Messages and Applications" But suddenly there's only one left which is "Application" The other 3 disappeared. It's available under the application menu, but i have to click application to access them. How do i re-add them back into the bottom menu bar? I was searching around but couldn't seem to find it, hence, i'm posting here. Thanks in advance yea. |
