I do need the high credit limit, but some merchants/institutions just don't accept credit card for large transactions.
I merely came to highlight the lack of card acceptance for bigger transactions. How is that negative?
Ask anyone who read your post. I was not the only one who had the same impression.

Does it have a pin for all the cards you mentioned?
*
nops. they just send me the card to home without pin.
even the card number automatically appear on cimbclicks before the card arriving at home ~

Did you pay the amount in FULL or partial payment (such as booking fee or downpayment) via cc? I know most car dealers would accept cc payment for booking fee or downpayment only. If you want to pay more via cc, they would impose a surcharge.
*
i pay deposit rm500 and balance rm34,448 (if not mistaken) full amount at proton shah alam.
i went there that time coz i want it to be - pay full amount can get car fast. dont want to wait so long (that time saga blm just launched).
oh btw, no surcharge at all smile.gif

QUOTE(gerrardling @ Jan 21 2011, 10:01 AM)
for me mc and visa is almost the same. a lot of shop are accepting it already compare to last time. for internet transaction, visa and mc are widely accepted. i got mc already, so i dont mind getting visa here tongue.gif
*
if here in malaysia, yes, can say where visa is accepted, mc too.
the differ is their promo.
my opinion, should have at least 1 mc and 1 visa.

i never find merchants that dont accept credit card for large transaction.
i swipe almost rm35k for 1 time at proton no problem.

or, how LARGE amount do u mean? rm100k? shocking.gif
possible they dont accept bcoz the discount rate (or we called it as fee/surcharge for credit card transaction), normal is around 0.5% - 3%.
so if u want to swipe rm100,000 and their rate is 3%, they will received only rm97,000.
rm3000 is a huge amount to 'loss'!
or, if u dont care, offer them to pay the surcharge ~ whistling.gif
but usually merchant will tell if pay via card got surcharge or not? so why they dont want to accept if u pay the surcharge? hmm.gif

QUOTE(thtan @ Jan 21 2011, 10:29 AM)
It's dangerous if you drop the card/get robbed/fraud. Banks may not absorb the losses due to the reasons mentioned, don't assume that(depending on the situation).
So what I do is - I keep some cards at home.
*
card dropped or get robbed, report bank and police immediately.

for fraud, bank usually call immediately to verify large amount. cimb even called me for rm60 swipe at shell previously!
(maybe bcoz the card never been swiped at shell).
and of coz my rm2k, rm9k also been verified by the bank.

leave the card at home, then how if the home get robbed while u outside?
by the time u at home, the card already been swiped somewhere, u call bank to suspend the card but its too late?

u can search previous thread, i already had experience.
my card had been fraud at kajang while i'm at kuantan (alibi by police report). bank absord the loss.
but let say if u leave ur card at home (kl), u also at kl, then ur house get robbed and ur card also been fraud at kl, how? doh.gif

yes pay full amount. that time no bank offering flexi payment (convert to installment) with 0% fee. but its ok.

the point now is, u should do have the cash before swipe.
rather than pay using cash, pay using card can get points or rebates thumbup.gif

i told already before, even kfc bill rm4.50 only, i still pay with card to get back 10% cashback (u know what card) brows.gif

Do you book air ticket online? If so, i'm afraid it is not entitled to 5% cashback because someone here mentioned online trxn is not Retail trxn. And it is stated by MBB that the cashback is for retail trxn only.

Buying air tickets online is one type of retail transactions.

Anyone here applied Maybankard 2 by emailing them?
*
This morning I applied for Maybankard 2 Amex Platinum and VISA Platinum through phone. As I am already an Amex Gold credit cardholder, I am not required to fill in any form or attach any supporting documents. That's simple and fast.

Not so worried about home getting broken in. I think my home is more secure than most homes. Coz the CID HQ is just right behind my house. Just from their office they can see my backyard. Free security 24hrs.. ohyeah.. I just wonder if there's robber dumb enough to try break in any of the homes here.

Like u said, normally they won't allow anyone to swipe that big amount >30k coz they are charged for it. As for me, i'm so tempted coz I can get tons of points. hehe..

I will not pay the surcharge lo, and I think few wealthy people will flaunt their money like that. Bad karma u know. If one is really that rich, should donate the money to charity. We all ought to make this world a better place.

For fraud, can't rely entirely on the bank. I got called for a measly <100 bux internet transaction, even blocked my card for swiping at petrol stations 2x in one day... but they never called me for retail transactions when i buy stuff like notebook. sigh.... Their focus is just not on the right thing.

1. OT, dont be SO confident about security. a robber can just enter ur house from front door too, acting like a house owner relative/fren tongue.gif

2. pls take note, 1 credit card can only swipe 2x at same brand petrol station per day.
if u need to pump 3 times or more within a day, go to 2 different brand petrol station ~

3. bank do advise seller (like computer shop) to verify card owner (show ic).
while internet transaction and petrol station no need to verify and signature, that why bank focusing more on this.

Actually, it's not the amount that's of concern but more towards the margin of the products concerned. I had swipe in excess of RM700K for purchase of a shoplot once upon a time and it was no problem at all, without any need to pay surcharge. In respect to car puchases, it depends on your relationship with the owner of the franchise as you will be surprised at the profit margins plus, if they are desperate to hit targets etc brows.gif

But the most useful part of a high CL is obviously when you are overseas and had no access to your funds as charges can run into hundreds of thousands easily, depending on where you are etc. As to the fraud element, normally it's negligible what more with existing chip based cards.
