Shouldn't this thread proceed from v13?

The previous thread really run too fast.

Yes, the first page needs to be updated immediately. Some information is incorrect and no longer relevant, thus misleading people.

Also AMEX Gold CC no Insurance for Travel. It was suggested that this info be on the first post and I second it.
*
Besides Amex Gold CC, other popular CCs that DO NOT provide complimentary travel insurance include OCBC Titanium MC, SCB JustOne Titanium MC and SCB Preferred World MC.

What I meant was the travel ACCIDENT insurance. It is not recommended to use OCBC Titanium MC purchasing air tickets.

btw SCB/UOB/DA Plat, which is better for travelling coverage?
isnt SCB?

All the above-mentioned cards come with complimentary travel accident insurance of up to RM1mil. You may want to look into other related details such as travel medical insurance, luggage loss, luggage delay, etc.

Let's not get carried away with this best card question. Many will come in here will ask this best card again.
We already have a good guide over in #1.
*
That's right. Different people have different preferences. I am not a diehard movie lover, therefore that card is definitely out of my list.

Do discuss this in the designated American Express thread.

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1190530

Anyway, the 15% cash back promotion will be ending on 28-2-2011.

Good attempt but I have to disagree with you on some of your selections.

QUOTE(JamesPond @ Jan 17 2011, 02:45 PM)
best card for glocery - rhb tesco/citi giant
*
Disagree. It should be OCBC Titanium MC. Tesco-RHB and Giant-Citibank CCs only give 2% cash back at Tesco and Giant respectively, whereas OCBC Titanium MC gives 5% cash back at all hypermarkets and supermarkets.

QUOTE(JamesPond @ Jan 17 2011, 02:45 PM)
best card for shopping - amex gold 5X point and 15% rebate promo on big shopping centre
*
Disagree. Amex's 15% cash back promotion is temporary and will be ending on 28/2.

QUOTE(JamesPond @ Jan 17 2011, 02:45 PM)
best overall card, 1 card carry holder - HLB essential 1% rebate

Disagree. The cash back given is based on denomination of RM1. If you spend RM199, you will only get RM1 cash back.

QUOTE(JamesPond @ Jan 17 2011, 02:45 PM)
best card for instant cash gift - stanchart rm188 for plat rm88 for gold

Do you mean given in denomination of RM100...every spend of RM100 you get back RM1 ?
*
As far as I know, cash back for HLB VISA Essential is based on spending per block of every RM100. If you spend RM100 - RM199, you will get RM1 cash back. If you spend RM99, you will get NOTHING.

This was the information I obtained from HLB when I intended to apply for this card last year. But this definitely drove me away!

citi-giant card earns 8% cashback on weekends. Although not published officially, but it has been like that for many months.
Furthermore, the cashback is uncapped.
*
But then, it is only applicable to Giant, not all hypermarkets and supermarkets. Therefore, it doesn't really fit the "best card for groceries" category.

You have been badly misinformed by the CS. I have own Essential since its inception and it's 'generous' to say the least.

Refer below :
USAGE          REBATE
===============

3683.18    -      37
1734.02    -      18
2256.22    -      23
2757.14    -      28
3898.58    -      39
Don't you think the rounding up is pretty generous?  icon_idea.gif

Oh...that's great. The CS officers lose a customer when I inquired about this card last August! doh.gif I asked 2 different CS officers but both gave me the wrong information. doh.gif

If I was informed this earlier, then I could use this card to swipe the partial downpayment for my property purchase last year! mad.gif

Wow, this Maybankard 2 is super HOT! I was away for 2 days but more than 10 pages have already been created because of this card.

And of course, I won't miss the boat. Anyway, the second card, namely MBB VISA/MC is useless. While the first card, MBB Amex is very sexy to me. I'll dump my Amex Gold cc soon after I obtain the 15% cash back in full and redeem all the points.

also waiting for my renewal JustOne, hope it is still available and not simply replace with some other SCB card, else no point keeping. on the other hand, maybe launching an improved JustOne will be better rclxm9.gif
*
SCB JustOne Titanium MC + OCBC Titanium MC + Maybankard 2 Amex Platinum CC should be sufficient to me. The other compulsory Maybankard 2 VISA Platinum will serve as backup in case of non-acceptance of MC and Amex.

Only Maybankard 2 MasterCard is available in April. If you opt for Visa, then you can get it now (after your application is approved).

I notice from the website .... if so, then it's nothing different from the OCBC Titanium..

5% Weekend cash back² when spend on Maybankard 2 American Express Card.
²A cap of RM50 per customer (Principal Cardmember) per month
*
Big differences. OCBC Titanium MC's 5% cash back is applicable to spending for petrol, grocery, utility bills and restaurant bills all day long, whereas Maybankard 2 Amex CC's 5% cash back is given to all retail transactions made during weekends.

99% was about the Maybankard 2. The card features are good, but the service is not necessarily good.

Last year CIMB was very active and aggressive in promoting premium cards like WMC and VI to the mass market. I don't think their new product, VS, will be a big hit.

No complimentary lounge access for both Maybankard 2 Amex Platinum and Platinum MC/VISA for the time being, this was what the CS officer told me earlier. Or else, they should have already highlighted in the advertisement and website.

QUOTE(sweetpea123 @ Jan 20 2011, 04:38 PM)
In the CIMB bank flyer that comes together with the statement, it says BURGER KING - 10% discount off total bill everyday throughout the year. Very confusing since it comes under the heading REBATE 10% every Sunday along with the KFC logo. Don't know how to upload pix here  tongue.gif
*
The flyer has a few mistakes.

1) The title states clearly "Rebate 10% every Sunday" but the footnote of KFC and Burger King mentions "10% discount off total bill everyday throughout the year". doh.gif

2) The front page highlights "Enjoy Sunday Rebates, with CIMB" and shows the images of various CIMB products including CIMB VISA Platinum and DA VISA Platinum. But actually, this promotion is only applicable CIMB/DA MC. doh.gif

Besides 10% rebate for KFC and Burger King, other products that can enjoy 5% rebate on Sunday include Guardian, Cold Storage, Giant, Tesco, Parkwell, Servay and Sunshine. It is so obvious that petrol has been totally removed from this rebate programme.
