He was, part of his head was sliced off since he was operating the crane when it collapsed. But then again he was an indian national, i doubt it would make headline news.

But the sg government do not give the working visa to my sister's friend because they say she still owe the money except she pay all one short...
if loan rm48k then how do we just pay 1 short when fresh graduate...

That is totally untrue. I personally owe PTPTN RM36k and yet I am currently working in Singapore. In fact, my EP was approved in just one day. Perhaps your sister's friend haven't been paying back the loan promptly?

I do not know the detail of her case...
I am worry because thinking of going there by this august after i graduate....

Information from your sister's friend might not be reliable, or some of the pertinent info may have been lost or modified while in transit from your sister's friend to your sister then to you and now to us.

Firstly, how would the Singapore Immigration dept know about the loans that the Malaysian govt gives to Malaysian citizens? I don't think the Malaysian govt will tell them.

Secondly, why do they care? It has nothing to do with Singapore and her laws.

Personally, I think your sister's friend was rejected for another reason. And this "loan" was just the excuse she created so that she doesn't lose face in front of your sister and her friends. Maybe she was caught stealing in Singapore when she was on holiday and the police placed her name and passport into the ICA blacklist.

hi guys, wanna know how do you guys feel about working in kranji, paya lebar and lavender?
I attended 3 interviews today and they all offer me the position but i told them i need to consider for couple of days. All of them offer almost the same salary. Now i only concern about the working place and living place. i quite concern about living environment and comfort like i am living in tampines i personally like it alot. so can you guys give comments for above three areas(and nearest district)? which do you think its best for living?

work in Kranji, you can live in JB and save a lot of $$ for rental. and u also get to enjoy your Malaysian life style if u live in JB. Not really sure why, but i like the Malaysian life style more than Singapore life style. Malaysian chinese kopitiam got sell chinese tea ice and also herbal tea. And i find it much better than Singapore food. But you need to sacrifice your fast broadband connection though.

My guess is company/gov will do background check (including loan, criminal etc) for some jobs such as those than can "touch" company money.

IIRC, I had police report for my PR application.

1) Nature and JB -- Kranji. Near to lim chu kang, Sg. buluh, Bt.Gombak etc. More Green over there.
2) City and Express bus terminal -- Lavender. Can walk over to buy bus ticket etc. Near to shoping area etc.
3) Condo, Apartment, Kampung, Car -- Paya Lebar. More condo/landed house there. Kampung Melayu, Lots of car dealer and workshops there. Due to the near by air force base. You don't see a lot of high buiding as compare to other areas.

you may want to consider the rental rate of these area.

I gave up all those for SAFETY. Crime rate in JB is just too high. Not a place I want my kids to grow up in. Another is the bureaucracy in the Government sectors.

Well if u r working in kranji u can have the option to put up at JB if u would like...u will save alot of money from the room rentals. BUT u will have to pay with your TIME!!
It's either your TIME or MONEY...you can't have both.

Else if u wanna rent in spore for your workplace in kranji i think marsiling/yio chu kang all these further up north should be ok...the rental rates maybe around SGD450 IIANM...

Paya Lebar....well if u can find a room to stay around paya lebar/aljunied/macpherson that you will save time/cost on your MRT/bus fares...room rates i think maybe between SGD500-600.

Lavender....SUPER close to city center....but the room rates also sky high.....maybe easily SGD600-700 or even higher.

Mind you these rates are for 1 to a room....an its a common room....common room means no attached bathroom and its the normal size rooms. Expect to pay between SGD50-100 more for aircon. If you're work place is in Paya Lebar..than Tampines its still not too far away. Rates around Tampines will be also around SGD500...

i prefer to look at the company rather than location..

yalo... location is secondary le... unless you so cash-strapped that cheaper rent location is a must

i am not sure if your info of rate is correct, coz i've been told for tampines area $450 is considered expensive (mine is 450) and that should be the rate for area like ang mo kio

Added on January 27, 2011, 1:09 amI look at all aspects. Like Kranji, the company is located at industrial area (i think), only one bus. hardly can see any cab. if i work late, cant catch the last bus then on-call cab? for the job it requires alot overtime. one or two times is ok, but if long term, i think most people will feel annoying eventually. and no matter how good the company is, the emotion will definitely make some influences. That company is really good. thats why i am in a dilemma....

In very general the common room rates are hovering around +-SGD500..unless you're talking about near city centre areas...

AMK room rental already surpassed the $500 mark quite long ago. if you are talking about $450, that is the rate for Marsiling area. AMK room now is around $550-$600 depends on how close is the room to MRT. Even Sembawang and Yishun rooms are going for around $500-$550.

almost quarter of my salary...living is hard in singapore now...can hardly achieve my primary intention here...
