Bullshit lah. Minimum 7 Mbps is theoretically not possible for WiMAX. No ISP will dare to guarantee minimum speed for wireless broadband.
*
Yes it can. Distance from tower and the actual hardware (ISP side) plays a whole lot of role giving those speeds. Not to defend YTL, but just saying it is possible. The theoretical maximum speed IIRC is around 70Mbps.

Went shopping at low yat plaza today. Notice there are banners promoting YES service with

9 sen = 3mb
or
9 sen = 1min
or
9 sen = 1 sms

Go figure it out whether it value for money.
*
OR? Have to pick one over the other?

If based on that rate:

3GB would be RM90.

30GB would be RM900.

I do hope this rumour isn't true. But who knows, it might be. sweat.gif

The dangerous thing is the password. If it falls into wrong hands, many people will go bankrupt.

They better put a monthly maximum cap of RM250 to their bills or else if your password gets stolen, you're going to pay thousands for your negligence.

I did some study of my own on why wireless broadband under deliver.

Based on the 10Mhz channel bandwidth the local WiMAX ISP is deploying, the theoretical should be around 35Mbps.
Note that 35Mbps is if you are in the best signal region using the service by yourself.
Subject to how far the ISP blast their signal, only <100m or LOS is qualified to be called the best signal.

So mix-n-match the subs under poor, moderate and good signal, you will probably only be getting average 15Mbps maximum throughput per sector shared by everyone under the sector.

In short, the actual speed and the theoretical speed can be very very far apart.

Same applies to 3G as well.

COMMON WIRELESS BROADBAND CONCEPT:
The more station = smaller cell = more bandwidth for every subs = more investment for ISP = less profit for ISP

So, more profit for ISP translates to more unhappy subs hahahaha

9 sen = 3mb

3GB would be RM90.

30GB would be RM900.

i don't even know how much i use on home broadband these days, my guess it could be almost 10gig cause of downloads? imagine PS3 download DLC / mini game?

He might have said some crap but maybe he meant the minimum or smallest "package" bandwidth was 7Mbps.
I hope it is fast though. With my current internet I hit maximum 7.44Mbps but it usually goes at a quarter of that or less. But it's bloody capped.

9 sen for 3Mb/0.375MB?
Then 1MB = RM0.24
1GB = RM240
6GB = RM1440
30 GB = RM7200

This is crazy. Even if it were 9 sen for 3MB, it is RM180 for 6GB, which is UBER expensive.

Whoever posted that ad, online or elsewhere, just doomed YES. Because this info will spread.
And once Friday rolls around, and this is confirmed, GG.

If they implement this kind of broadband, most people will say NO! and stick to current broadband... I think it will not last long and they will make a package later....tongue.gif Although capped at 128kbps, in one week i can exceed almost 2GB...tongue.gif

its a NO for me if this is what YES gonna be.

am not comfortable with "surprises" on internet usage bill !

i rather lack of discipline, so i'd go for something lumpsum and caps.

unifi not reach my area yet so... i most probably will go for u-mobile...

If it's GB then I will go.. but sadly latest news to date is 9sen / 3MB.. which is only good for mobile phone surfing (iphone etc), and not for normal pc surfing. RM30 for 1GB is too expensive. 3GB will make up RM90, which I can get 10GB Digi plan already (RM108 without rebate), or other telcos plan which is way cheaper.

What's more YTL is a new player, and with that rate, they will not be able to capture much of the market share. May be it's cheap for prepaid mobile phone users to jump ship, but not for home internet user. Let's hope that the rate is only for prepaid mobile phone package (which I think will be more likely), and not for Mobile Broadband.

oh so many negative feedback already...

sure some guy from YTL is monitoring feedbacks from lowyat.net.... they better revise or come with a unlimited but throttled speed plan...otherwise all other 3g and P1 would keep smiling away...
