Agree with skint, MAJORITY of movies are not shown, TV is the same. Who wants shows 4 seasons late or movies that nobody else would ever care to watch...

Price is expensive, just like other services which charge a bomb after 5GB. Hence it is ineffective.

Early adoptee will enjoy pretty good speed, just wonder if they can sustain

Here's to hoping that YES realize the problem with P1 Fake 4g, and the other 3G/HSDPA competitors. I mean, it is pretty easy to figure out the problems right?

If they invested in 60% coverage, they should no doubt invest in the pipes.

What if their pay-as-you go model charges as high as existing competitors?

i.e. the data usage for 5GB is Rm100, for example.

At any rate, wireless broadband is not meant to be unlimited. To get unlimited data, fixed line is the way to go.
*
Pay-As-You-Go (PayGo from now on - less typing smile.gif ) means F-L-E-X-I-B-I-L-I-T-Y.
So what if you don't use much one month and a lot the next?
With existing ISPs, you pay the same even if you don't go online the whole month and throttled if you go over your allocation.

Fast is one thing. But majority user like use still prefer some bitorent usage. Surf net and simple video files, any of the ISP can provide w/o much issue. But as some of us download HD movies, series, software. How should this wimax can match such demand. I wonder country like Taiwan and China, how suppose their bittorent preform, it is very good speed? If yest, ISP here should somehow able to provide such service.

They need to get their priorities straight. Service > speed test.

A lot of promises have been made around this time - is any one going to keep them?

Added on November 8, 2010, 3:27 pmOn YES' website it says 11+ more days.

But I am truly disappointed that it is a phone + internet service. No info on internet service itself.

you should be grateful that u can even start to do torrenting, because outside our country, yes they have freaking high speed, but if u start some torrenting for illegal usage (download hd movies, series WITHOUT paying), you gonna get urself some sort of fines. You DONT expect an ISP to provide a better service for you to do torrenting, period.

u are half right. they do have internet service but it means the amount u paid is for internet service or phone service. so it's either one.

u can choose to make phone calls or choose to spend it on internet service.

or both

I'm guessing that YES will charge for data by volume, phone calls by time (different mobile and fixed line charges) and SMS by message.

You all do realise that YES stands to make money terminating calls to your YES 018 numbers too (paid by originating telcos) ?

Also maybe free or one time per call charge between YES subscribers.

Do remember that a real 4G network is completely IP based meaning everything travels with data.

Observing how modern day SIP based voip providers operate, on-net calls can be totally unlimited with just a small monthly fixed fee.
Off-net calls can also be unlimited to fixed/mobile networks if pricing structure is right at RM150-200.
When a network is totally IP-based even an overseas call can be FREE

Just like how you make a Skype call from Malaysia to a friend who might be in the Himalayas who happen to have a good internet connection as well.
Since both uses the same soft app, Skype, your calls will be FREE.

The internet has no boundaries. It'll only get better with speed.

But then we are still operating the per-minute calls over here with our ageing networks.

But with Skype on-net calls while free, you still pay your ISP for the bandwidth.
With YES, your ISP is now also your telco
That's why I suggested that YES might simply give free calls between YES subscribers or for a simple one time connection charge (say 10 sen untimed)

And since YES promos suggest a prepaid model (refer "no expiry" claims) they won't be charging monthly calls packages.
However in future they might offer different call packages ala current celco practice.

But apart of free movies and songs, what else we want for 4G? Fast loading? Maybe for video call and simple video viewing. Then what else this 4G can offer to us?
Or should we stick to streamyx at home, while phone stick to 4G for simple video calls and surf net outside home.

Most of us have high latency, low speed internet.

This is not able to load webpages smoothly.

Assuming you do not watch tv, even youtube, news, stocks, websites for studies, email, are all tremendously slow.

High speed internet would greatly improve our quality of life in many respects.

In European countries and America they are making internet a basic necessity or human right.

it says no throttling and no capping. 4G is supposedly also good for gaming, also bandwidth good enough for HDTV. a stable and consistent 2mbps would be wonderful
