QUOTE(eclectice @ Oct 26 2010, 04:52 PM) For real? Looking for a new ISP since I have been very unhappy with Streamyx. Any idea what they are coming up with? YTL has a good brand name so I am sure they won't screw it up. |

Exciting. I need new internet services. There was this hype about AMAX but their site is down, and it's terribly expensive.
Currently using Maxis but hate the cap. I want something like Unifi with good speed. What is dual play? "initially covering 65% of the population of Peninsular Malaysia in one go, and 80% by January 2011." sounds good eh? "this service could actually be available from as early as the middle of 2011." But it'll take awhile. No word on speed? |

Very likely YTL will start big at Ipoh area since YTL Power has lots of investments in Perak such as their power generation plant at Segari and the world award winning Pangkor Laut Resort all located here. It's good to wake TM up because there're still companies who are willing to cover Ipoh and its surrounding suburbs when TM is for some reason avoiding investments in Ipoh due to its large population mainly which consists of ethnic Chinese. There are many other isps which see the potential here such as Jaring, Umobile and DiGi. |

Yeah but "launch" does not carry the same meaning as "available to customers".
For example, UMobile 42Mbps HSPA+ has been "launched" but they have not even set up the hardware/base towers and are not prepared to offer it to customers, as far as I know. |

Oh, I see, like the UMobile launch. It's an ahem launch.
At least we are getting somewhere. The government minister said 2x companies have 100Mbps services available in March 2011, that better be true - not 100Mbps "service", but only 10Mbps or 3Mbps download... |

QUOTE(calvin_ng @ Nov 5 2010, 08:55 AM) You sure about your comments? My 4mbps Streamyx is even less reliable than all the mobile HSDPA providers. I have to resort to Umobile to surf properly at night when I get back from work. Notice I only mentioned "surf".It's that bad that you can't even load sites properly even with a 4mbps line. |
