I guess sifu Oly manage to install it before the year of 2007 and endorse, or install without endorse brows.gif

Either way, 4G63T is a great engine. Now wira cannot use it no more. Highest can go is GSR

hmm, since my car is only 4g13, its quite underpower.
Thus i would like to ask if after i install a lcp, will i have slightly more power to counter the inertia of my car?

From what I understand, LCP slightly improves pick up. I too was thinking of installing LCP, but maybe during the time I need to change timing belt.

Actually LCP releases torque throughout the whole rpm
Most noticable is the low end smile.gif

Ahh I see. Meaning that it produces more torque in low end RPM eh ? Does that means it loses torque at high end ?

If you want to change the bulb, then just the bulb. If you want to change the looks of your headlamp, then headlamp it is.

Yes you can change from halogen to xenon HID bulb without needing to change the headlamp.

Yes, 4300k is yellowish, and I think safe from road block, not so noticeable. I forgot the limit, 4350k or 4500k. Mine is 8000k H/L. Wanted to get 6000k but no stock, end up getting 8000k instead. Thought of 4300k, but the colour looks like normal halogen. Normal driving on yellow halogen.

Yes you can change from halogen to xenon HID bulb without needing to change the headlamp.
Welcome aboard bro !

If I don't use ballasts, is it ok? hmm.gif
will it brighter than normal bulb? biggrin.gif
I just want it brighter, currently the bulb is so dim.. doh.gif

Can use without ballasts eh ? I have no idea laugh.gif

Mine too not so bright after using HID, but definitely better but the lighting got 'cacat'. Some say it is the headlamp. If you use projector, then the light will be brighter.

the Lancer driver sure dulan, few times he try to smoke me when the road is clear but i still stick at his car ass. cucuk till didn't notice already 160km/h, then traffic congestion already.
play SOHC is very nice. thumbup.gif

maybe the new Lancer is too heavy or the cvt gearbox makes it not really fast enough. ¯\(°_o)/¯

Not surprising bro
FYI, stock lancer GT only around 11x at the wheels smile.gif
You have advantage in the power to weight department

What gear when you start accelerate from 80km/h onwards?

hmm...base on my experience, lancer GT only got advantage over than 160km/h compare to wila, cuz its heavier n the GB responce is suck when pickup.... shakehead.gif
tried to keep up with a lancer in plus hiway from tg malim to rawang recently...my car can reach 170kmh easily n i still manage to lead it, but the lancer was getting faster n faster n it overtook me untill i cant see it at all.... doh.gif

Means his MIVEC at that time only show its power ler, not the adrenaline kick like the VTEC. I've sat in a 1.6 MIVEC be4, MIVEC engaged no adrenaline rush, but its going very fast and the sound biggrin.gif

Performance of course the 93T will win.

ya, i think the weight is GT disadvantage.
if just barely hit 80, 3rd gear. If more than 80, 4th gear.

What do you mean by 93T cannot long2 on top speed ? Meaning that MIVEC pwn 93T at top speed ? I'm not looking on sudden boost quick pick up. One can stay at high speed for long time like above 160 kmph for long travel is good enough. My 1.5A now don't dare to go high speed, limit to 140 kmph or 4.5k RPM. Don't want history to repeat, last time tappet loosen, engine out sweat.gif

Hi all,

Today when I on A/C, my car feel like no power..like underpower..I'm driving Wira 1.5 Auto(4G15)..

Actually what is the problem will cause the car underpower when A/C on?

Besides that, I would like to get some opinions from you all, is it worth to invest more on Wira? since its old car, and will it be very hard to find spare part later on?

Yes, mine too and it is normal. What I do is I spend less time braking, and when going uphill, I speed up earlier. Also, if your Wira still in good condition, my suggestion is to maintain it as long as you can, especially when you're studying or just started to work. Save up the monthly pay, until you can afford new one. I love my Wira thumbup.gif

MIVEC block is way better of course (tough)
It has oil squirters as well to cool the pistons and etc etc

SOHC doesn't have oil squirters but you can dump in MIVEC pistons brows.gif
But seriously, MIVEC now is overpriced, not worth at all (for me)

Yup, I think so. Mine I just need to maintain services, and check the wear and tear stuff, and replace with new one. For the power, have to bear with it la. Don't expect 10+ years old car can tapau new Evo. Even if can, then later a bit front few meters, car breakdown laugh.gif

That is 1 of the reasons ler~~
Plus for tuning the cams, DOHC is always better than SOHC
SOHC engine is lighter and etc etc etc etc

MIVEC block is way better of course (tough)
It has oil squirters as well to cool the pistons and etc etc

SOHC doesn't have oil squirters but you can dump in MIVEC pistons brows.gif
But seriously, MIVEC now is overpriced, not worth at all (for me)
SOHC you can see 1 campulley only, DOHC has 2 (bigger cylinder head)

I think I'm gonna do the same thing too in the upcoming service, ask my foreman to check the distributor. Tried FICD, replaced new TB ISC, and new spark plug. Plug cable seems alright.

you want rojak mivec head with 4g93 block? heard quite troublesome. need many things, like the coil wiring, ecu, TB. then coz bigger than 1.6 ard, so need bigger fuel pump, injector, etc. then ecu become blur2 ard coz all diff things, need to put emanage and tuning. gearbox also plays a very big role to make the tires spin faster, mivec gearbox only will cost 2k. mivec part also very hard to find now, so price also skyrocket.

nowadays many prefer to go 93t ways coz cheaper, just buy halfcut then plonk in everything. of coz if then you start want to boost higher then the headache will be something like mivec..

if your only intention is to have just more pickup so easier to overtake lorry and go to max speed (90 or 110kmh) then i feel 4g93 N/A is enough ard. DOHC or SOHC also got pickup on this range, if want top speed then go for DOHC.

if can find 4g93 of coz better (real 1.8, not convert to 1.8)
but 4g92 ard much more power than 4g15. if not mistaken you drive 4g15 rite?
or you can look for Putra or SGTi, both also powerful than Wira.

Both can be modded into the 200HP range
Plus the 4G93, you don't need MIVEC to go fast
Dump in a pair of high cams, and you can fly already

Yesterday tested with a Satria Neo R3 (Not the Lotus Racing 1), its not as fast as I thought it would be)

how fast you want it to be?
4G92P Turbo can be done >200HP but can you control it? You will spend a lot of money as well for the reliability of it plus tuning and etc etc etc (that is for the engine part only). What about the chassis, suspension as well as brakes? all need upgrades as well
And it won't be streetable for sure (referenced to one forumer in ZTH that has a >200HP 4G92P Turbo)

0-100 in 5 seconds? No way due to the car being FF
Fastest calculated time for a VR4 Satria stock is 5.5 seconds +-

Able to get 200km/h easily? Just rebuilt your 4G15P and it will hit 200km/h

Just service my car yesterday..now my car feel really good..like flying..
Didnt install FICD to solve the RPM problem..just clean my throttle body..

However, today, let a Satria chase tail..and then I quickly pick up..and reach 140km/h easily, but the Satria still chasing tight..I'm thinking..WTF..

By the way, my Wira is stock, nothing mod..

Not so hard, just alright. Right side ? Then maintain stock one. I'm not sure if there's any, but mostly AT gear knob button is on top, like MOMO or RAZO.

This RAZO gear knob is for MT. It is installed for AT in either; push the gear knob itself downwards to shift gears, or it is locked so that there will be no lock, the gear can move freely from P to L without any locks.

ya, i think the weight is GT disadvantage.
if just barely hit 80, 3rd gear. If more than 80, 4th gear.
dun think the guy sayang the car, he even overtook the car infront even when its double lane.
looks like wira can only play with them on pickup
Btw, your car is 1.5 or 1.6?
93t for pickup but cannot long2 on top speed. Mivec can top speed all the way.
*
QUOTE(afosz @ Sep 29 2010, 12:26 PM)
What do you mean by 93T cannot long2 on top speed ? Meaning that MIVEC pwn 93T at top speed ? I'm not looking on sudden boost quick pick up. One can stay at high speed for long time like above 160 kmph for long travel is good enough. My 1.5A now don't dare to go high speed, limit to 140 kmph or 4.5k RPM. Don't want history to repeat, last time tappet loosen, engine out sweat.gif
*
suddenly got so many pages liao.. but as a 4g93t gsrians.. i should say something too.. kekeke..
93t can maintain 'top' speed 180kmh without over heating problem. done that liao.. from johor till kl. of coz, not all the way 180kmh, but once jln clear then drive like no tomorrow. and triggered the speed cut twice..

I see, 180 kmph for top speed is good enough drool.gif

I'm guessing this one is GSR ? brows.gif

Just to share, recently 1.5M clutch pump faulty, leak oil. Spare part at RM90, labour + refill oil = RM30

Not sure is expensive or not. No choice, car break down halfway, clutch gone.

Upon reaching a red traffic light at TPM, I saw 4 policemen riding motorcycles in the same way but they exit and turn to left instead. I rev up a bit to create loud exhaust sound. Turns out there's another policeman left behind, just turn to left and while turning, he turned his head towards my car, oversteer, lost balance and fell at road shoulder. My traffic light turns green, I leave.

I beg to differ. From the website, it is for MT. Any MT gear knob is usable for AT, but the usage will be like push the knob downwards to shift gears, or lock it down so that it can move freely without the need to press to unlock. But it is dangerous from D to N then suddenly over to R.

I beg to differ. From the website, it is for MT. Any MT gear knob is usable for AT, but the usage will be like push the knob downwards to shift gears, or lock it down so that it can move freely without the need to press to unlock. But it is dangerous from D to N then suddenly over to R.
*
No problem at all tongue.gif
The reverse guard still can work.. push down on the top of knob, because this is ABS/retraction type of gear knob, there is a spring inside that reject the knob; holding it up at all times..

another thing reason for me to believe so is, gsr using 15r60 tyre series.. while i can only put in 15r55 series..

Guys,

Now my Wira 1.5 Auto having problem..
Before this, it like to mati engine itself when the car stop..but now it like to mati engine when I shift gear from N to D..(After I clean my throttle body)

After clean TB, my engine's RPM is stable, not like last time will up and down rapidly..

Example : at traffic light, when the light green, I shift from N to D, the car will mati engine(sometimes)..but quite frequent recently..

So I want to ask, is it the TB still having problem? what should I do to solve this problem? kinda annoying and feel not safety to drive..

Guys, i recently pasang a RPM brand auto gauge on my wira 1.3 injection siemen ecu. However, the rpm can only reach 1000 rpm maximum. It wasn't sensitive enough. That accessories guys told me that the ecu need 2 do setting, is that true?

wrong... check the switch behind ur rpm gauge... got indicate 3,4,6... select 4 as ur car has only 4-cylinder...

if the switch is correct, ur mechanic installed the wiring wrongly... he might had tapped the wrong signal wire...

It is the TB problem.....
because when its abnormal, with aircond on its 700rpm, when u engage to D, it will drop even more hence your engine stalled

Hey guys i hav a hitch. i am restoring my 1997 wira aeroback 1.6 to SE currently.
Will be painting it soon, body kits done. My problem now are the rims/tires and absorber/springs.
I want to achieve a not so lowerd look in front maybe 2.5 finger's and back also same. All this using 15 inch rims. Any suggestion guys?

Try to source for another ISC thingy for your TB (just the bottom part)
Or change to a new recond TB/brand new TB

Alternative solution is to install a FICD

About the lifespan of the TB's ISC, it depends.....I can't say for sure. Its an old technology already, can't do much

yo gsrians... today i find out something from my engine... it 'eat' engine oil ler.. but no leaking, no blue/white smoke... wonder where the heck did it went to... almost clock 3k km, but i already have to used up the remaining oil (saved up from the service) in the bottle to keep it above the middle mark... did you experience this in your gsr? if you do, what you did and the cost?

guys, how often do you change your fuel filter?
A workshop recommended me to change it after seeing the dirt on my old spark plugs. He then say its better to change the fuel filter. I was quoted RM42 for it...is this price right?

RPM dropping, engine stalled and if unlucky enough, it died are the main reasons I'm too lazy to mod. Anyway, now when I'm driving above 120 kmph, it will give some sort of weird sounding. Not sure what is that, nor even know how to type on how the sound like laugh.gif

Get a high flow air filter will increase your performance for sure
Others to consider, lighten crank pulley

The rest like camshafts, PNP, high comp pistons and engine balancing are all later stages already

chaf : mine also got some oil around the cam cover.. thinking about changing that too... change to better oil and the oil consumption become less ah.. hmm.gif maybe better oil wont evaporate like those cheaper mineral oil kua.. anyway, i think, i will stick to my current oil. but change the cam cover gasket, exhaust extractor gasket.. and see what will happen next..

Yea, it only sounded at high speed. At 120-130kmph, I can still hear the sound. I think something like squeaky sound ? If 140-160kmph, cannot be heard as it covered by the sound of air filter and exhaust sweat.gif

Change new car ? If I have tons of money brows.gif Otherwise, using old ones save up a lot drool.gif

old car saves money, but can use for how long?

today renew my car insurance, there's added extra 15% charge for the premium amount coz my car is over 15 years sad.gif
and once the car reach 20 years, no insurance company will cover my car.
have to use Pos insurance, which heard the premium is very high..

Is it ? Over 15 years, added extra 15% charge to the insurance, and no insurance company to cover for over 20 years ? That is bad.

I'm planning to use as long as possible, as long it does not give so much of a headache, or planning to buy new one. Can't say much, later the car 'heard' what I'm saying, it started to give me headaches, knowing that I'm planning to replace it. doh.gif

Most insurance companies are unwilling to insure cars >11 years old. Most likely they'll add in excess or higher premiums or require you to purchase additional insurance like PA. No 3rd party, must be 1st party.

This is due to insurance company complaint that they are not making money from insuring old cars. doh.gif A lot of claims.

2 days ago, I rev then tiba-tiba battery light on. When I check my voltmeter in car, it shows 11.9. I rev more, then the voltage overshoot to 15V. After that the alternator no longer work. Dead.

I went to workshop, they recommend changing to a reconditioned alternator. Paid RM205 including workmanship. WTFBBQSAUCE! One day later, that recon alternator also died. The workshop offered to replace the alternator with no charge today.

While it appears to be still working, I still feel that this alternator is not going to last for many days too. When I turn on my ICU and lights, the voltage drop near 12V.

Why is it so difficult to get a working alternator? I brought home my original alternator though. Don't know what can I do with it sad.gif

p.s. I had interesting discovery. My Wira horn won't work when alternator not charging battery even if the engine is running. The weird behaving horn is even better indicator than the warning light and voltmeter.

Not about maintenance problem, you get the best power to weight ratio
Maintenance is more or less the same for all engines

not to say 1.6 has less maintenance problem. but given to experience mechanic/owner, the car is less problematic.

some of the 1.6 parts are different than 1.3/1.5, with a bit higher price.
1 thing though, with 1.6 you won't feel the car underpower, unlike 1.3/1.5.
highway drive is very fuel economy, mine around 14.5cents per-km. thumbup.gif
town drive is quite bad. around 20cents per-km. cry.gif

The only bad thing about your choice for the 1.8 will be the auto transmission
It won't give the engine justice smile.gif

I bought mine RM180 without workmanship. Seems expensive. How much you bought your 75A alternator?

Nvm, I just turn on my ICU, the alternator is likely to die. Then I claim again.

My wira nowadays like very hard to start, espec after raining. Need to turn the key a few times and sometimes press the throttle too (not sure if pressing the throttle will actually helps, but it only starts when I press it). I hear a soft "cranking" sound when I turn the key. Any idea whats wrong?

Usually I need to turn 5-8 times before the engine comes to life.

Mine is a 1.6 FI Auto.

Did your car go for regular engine oil changes and etc?

Air filter clean? Plugs are good? How's the mileage? You need a retune

your RPM maintain at 2 when your car is idle? shocking.gif
That is too high..might be the cause..
Because I adjust mine..FC increase a little bit.. Normally full tank I can go for 350-400KM..but now its only 300-320KM biggrin.gif

What engine are you running right now?

Transplant engine legally max is 25% higher than your current displacement and max engine for Wira chassis is only 4G93

Logically it should because you have more torque to move the car
Unless you wanna maintain roadtax of RM90, get a 1.6

Go for a nice exhaust upgrade (recommended full system) and a lighten crank pulley
You can look for EA Autoworks

Yes, engine conversion should not be more than 25% from original engine.

4G93 half cut consisting everything from head to dashboard, gearbox and braking system. Correct me if I'm wrong though sweat.gif

ya i know its 25% cry.gif
but is JPJ more strict now? Runner can get the job done? if yes any contacts for runner?

Braking system included? But my friend ask me to change brake system myself... maybe it depends on the half cut shop as well... Someone quote me price b4 but without gearbox even... While a fren of mine change halfcut even the aircond compressor included... So where to find good deal of half cut shops?

just plan a 1.6 enof..
cheaper roadtax(rm90 only.. y pay more?), and more economy(FC lower)..

Good year I suppose, at least its age only 5 years.

There are two things needed for the car to be on a road : 'maintenance' and 'repair'.

Maintenance, or so called service is one you should be doing for every 4,000-5,000 km, send for service, changing engine oil. Some requires only once after 3-4 times of services, like brake fluid, gear oil, power steering oil, clean air filter, etc.

Repair is one replacing the wear and tear product like battery, brake pads, absorbers, tires, and all the things that is old, damaged and needed to be replaced or fixed.

Happened during idle ? Might be throttle body problem. Either the ISC or the tb itself clogged with carbon.

if no aircond, your idling is too low.....hence the chances of getting a stalled engine is high

My car also having quite similar problem..after clean the TB..seems ok..
BUT..another problem come out..which is sometimes the RPM is low..like just now..I drive from Midvalley back to Damansara..the RPM is as low as 200-300..
Sometimes it is normal which is 800-900..sometimes I switch off the car and start again..it will back to normal but sometimes useless even after restart..
When low, I try to press pedal to the max, I can hear some sound from the engine bay..something like "ka"..press a bit it wont..press to the max then it will rclxub.gif

Solving is buy getting new car laugh.gif

My engine always stall when aircond is on. I put in N, I pump up brake pedal, the RPM goes up. It's ok as long it doesn't drop dead.
