due to failure to obtain OCBC Ti, i applied for HSBC Visa Classic, which just got approved today. I only knw tat HSBC has a lot of discounts in West Msia but nt East Msia, I'm at East Msia so it's like the cons. I applied coz it's like international. I stil gonna try apply for OCBC Ti. Plan to get 1 mastercard n 1 visa. Anyone got any feedback regarding HSBC Visa Classic or OCBC Visa Gold? or which bank's visa card offers more benefits?

I guess they will be having the similiar promotion in Sunway Pyramid as well as the new CIMB Corporate HQ in Menara Bumi Commerce at Jalan Raja Laut very soon. |

Shouldn't have told them i do not currently work and just give them my dad's company name when they asked where do i work at the moment. The outcome might be different then Added on September 27, 2010, 11:00 pmI know Maybank can give you pre approved credit card if your monthly salary is credited to Maybank account for at least 3 months. The branch manager can give pre approval and most of the time you have 90% success rate using this route. they just require IC and payslip to support. Do you know any other banks who work similarly for pre approval status aside from making yourself their Priority Banking customer? This post has been edited by rockefeller: Sep 27 2010, 11:00 PM |

Not going to deny that i want the card badly. Every time i shop at all these stores that have promotion specially for CIMB Bank credit cardholders only but the bad news is i do not have one. I have missed so many rebates or free cash voucher such as :- charge RM90 at MPH, get x% rebate + free voucher (**promotion expired) - 5% off at ISETAN (**promotion expired) - 5% off at Guardian - up to 20% off at Starbucks - 5% off at Servay & Parkwell There are many more but i just couldn't recall all now. I can save so much money if i have their card. In fact, when i was at KLIA last week. I saw this banner that CIMB World MasterCard gets 15% off at the chocolate shops at KLIA while the rest of the CIMB MasterCards get 10%. I always buy many chocolates every time i pass through KLIA and i go to KL once a month. Imagine how much i'll save Besides, CIMB Bank credit card is supported for many 0% IPP in the market too. This sure is good QUOTE(rockefeller @ Sep 27 2010, 10:58 PM) How much FD required normally to add weight to the application? Not exactly sure. I know that by becoming their Preferred Banking customer, you'll get a pre-approved Platinum MasterCard. May be FD in 7 figures can get the World MasterCard ? Or probably half a million will do too. By the way, CIMB Bank has also partnered many restaurants that give 10% - 20% off total bill if you pay using their card. HSBC has many such promotions too but CIMB Bank has even more such partner restaurants.
Oh, and the bonus points required to redeem for shopping voucher is the lowest among all the banks in Malaysia too This post has been edited by MilesAndMore: Sep 27 2010, 11:28 PM |

HSBC has many such promotions too but CIMB Bank has even more such partner restaurants. There was a time I was in KFC Pudu. I saw a lady ordered a lot, and then the small black screen at cashier there showed RM150++. Until she took out her wallet and cash notes, I approached her and offered to pay on her behalf after explaining on the cash back stuff. She agreed. When payment completed, I gave her RM5 as a token of appreciation Oh, and the bonus points required to redeem for shopping voucher is the lowest among all the banks in Malaysia too I did this a few times already. Not everyone can accept this kind of offer. Some ppl think I am conman and walked away from me |

QUOTE(winner @ Sep 27 2010, 07:13 PM) How do they assess credit exposure by only seeing the customer's face? CIMB/DA VI only offers 0.5% cash back and 1% for overseas. I guess you going for the cash rebate instead of points which is a good move since the points have expiry date. Initially VI quite useless as not many promotions and only recently some offers previously for WMC is now also extended to VI.At first the staff persuaded me to take CIMB WMC without asking for my IC, existing cc and income document. But I said I only wanted DA VI. Then she asked me to take CIMB VI instead. I insisted taking DA VI. She then said I should take both DA WMC and VI as they are free for life. I reiterated I only needed DA VI. She then requested my degree certificate and income statement. That was done on Sunday. CIMB/DA WMC offers not applicable to VI (eventhough some of the benefits are stated in VI card benefit but the promotion advertisement clearly states MC only) - a) cash rebates at many food outlets e.g. Starbuck, KFC (if you single no diff, but people with family or buying for party then the saving can be RM10 or more), Bugger King (yes, I got 10% discount at Bugger King Midvalley last Saturday, cannot swipe and paid with cash). Free coffee at Dome, even just having a muffin or scone. b) until end Sept 5% rebate at Guardian, TESCO, Cold Storage and Giant. c) discount/voucher at MPH better than AMEX Gold CC d) Petrol 2% cash rebate. Click below to see that above only for MC and not Visa. http://www.directaccess.com.my/index.php?t..._promotion_list And another note, some shops staff don't know even know what DA is, and will say that offer only for CIMB QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Sep 27 2010, 11:27 PM) By the way, CIMB Bank has also partnered many restaurants that give 10% - 20% off total bill if you pay using their card. And now, no courier fees for vouchers Oh, and the bonus points required to redeem for shopping voucher is the lowest among all the banks in Malaysia too |

Another opportunity to save some money missed QUOTE(Gen-X @ Sep 28 2010, 12:32 AM) b) until end Sept 5% rebate at Guardian, TESCO, Cold Storage and Giant. Not sure if all these will return a few months later or whether they will extend these offers. Anyway, the deals at ISETAN and Guardian have returned a few times already. The 5% cash rebate at ISETAN and Guardian already exist way back in 2008. This offer is always availble between x-month - x-month only but they always bring it back a couple of months later QUOTE(ronnie @ Sep 28 2010, 12:06 AM) CIMB, canton i gets 10X (one of my favourite restaurants) and also at Tai Thong got discount. QUOTE(ronnie @ Sep 28 2010, 12:06 AM) And now, no courier fees for vouchers Too bad they still charge RM8 for shipment to East Malaysia. Anyway, one needs only 10,000 bonus points to redeem a RM50 voucher versus most other banks that need 11,500 - 13,000. |

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Sep 27 2010, 10:33 PM) What the hell ? They told me it was their credit card centre at the HQ that requested for my income document I doubt the approval is done at the back room, as per my case, I went back to the card centre after 50 minutes, the lady there ask for my NRIC again and keyed in to the system and said, " ya, your card is ready". Then she walk in to the "back room" and came out around 10 minutes with the cards.. Man ... i really think i screwed up badly last week when i went to their credit card centre. Shouldn't have told them i do not currently work and just give them my dad's company name when they asked where do i work at the moment. You will fail the application from any bank.If for technical reasons e.g. documentation ... often the respective bank will call you to clarify / resubmit the documents. Certain bank e.g. HSBC / PBB are very sensitive to the number of cards that you hold. So they will reject you although you are not risky. |

Initially VI quite useless as not many promotions and only recently some offers previously for WMC is now also extended to VI. I do agree that WMC always has more promotions compared to what VI offers. Nevertheless, I applied for DA VI not because of cash back or discount. It's because of a specific reason. See my post #1657 for explanation.http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1530782/+1640 QUOTE(Gen-X @ Sep 28 2010, 12:32 AM) And another note, some shops staff don't know even know what DA is, and will say that offer only for CIMB It's true. I'd had a DA cc many years ago. It was issued under the former Southern Bank. Many merchants did not recognise DA.I had encountered unfavourable experience with CIMB Bank on banking issues. The name CIMB is just not my cup of tea. I would rather take DA, even thought DA is now under CIMB Group. QUOTE(rockefeller @ Sep 28 2010, 09:20 AM) The WMC VI Pavilion Big Spender Promotion. The chance of winning for a normal cardholder is near zero. |
