OCBC Titanium only allows us to spend RM2000 per month on Petrol/Gas Stations/Grocery Stores/Utility Bills/Restaurant and another RM2000 per month on other Retail transactions.

Then after Dec 2010, we can spend RM1000 per month on Petrol/Gas Stations/Grocery Stores/Utility Bills/Restaurant OR RM5000 per month on other Retail transactions.
*
You are right. The main reason I am getting OCBC Titatium is mainly for petrol as I will be getting 5%. My petrol itself a month is more than RM1K and can easily qualify for the auto GST waiver and Annual fees. So comes 2011, maximum savings I can get is RM650/year (incl GST) just from petrol. Not to forget since I pump at Esso, I am also getting another 1.5% cash back using Smiles Points.

Another feature of OCBC Titanium is the 0% interest for transactions until year end (just like what AMEX Gold CC offerred when it was launched last year). This CC competition is great, I am getting 0% "loan" every year. Comes December, BT it to DA and I will get 1 year 0% interest free "loan".

QUOTE(David83 @ Aug 18 2010, 11:32 PM)
How about this?

http://www.ocbccards.com.my/ocbcCreditCard.aspx

Need to fax them back also?
*
Yah, fill the form and then print it and fax it to them together with a photocopy of your IC and a CC which is more than a year. With both that info they can go check your records.

QUOTE(Seng_Kiat @ Aug 19 2010, 01:58 AM)
ocbc titanium cc looks good but anyone knows about the balance transfer? how long is it for the 0%?
*
BT 0% for 6 months, offer until end of year and for new card holders only.

QUOTE(ck_tonny @ Aug 19 2010, 12:03 AM)
So fast update your blog, Gen-X haven't update his one.
*
smile.gif I just applied for the card yesterday. Once I get the card, then I will udate my blog on the process and time frame for approval. The CS told me fastest way to get approval is fax to them as it goes to the department processing the card, where as application made at branches is dependant on when they sent it to HQ.

Planning to do a comparison of cash back cards the weekend before Merdeka.

hmmm... i just checked this months US$ transactions on my alliance bank CC and i dont see a 1% handling fee. transaction date is 1.8.2010 and the exchange rate applied when converting RM to US$ via http://corporate.visa.com/pd/consumer_serv..._ex_results.jsp with 0% bank fee is 3.1755 which is the exact rate i get from my statement when i divide the amount in RM by the amount charged in US$. maybe i need to check - or do they treat the cards differently. card in question is a priority banking plat card.
*
Above is indeed good news for Alliance CC holders. This morning I did do an online US transaction with my Alliance Plat, will confirm above after I get my statement next month.

QUOTE(ck_tonny @ Aug 19 2010, 07:52 PM)
Gen-X, from the savings calculator, seems like petrol is capped at RM30 per month, so your yearly rebate is only RM360.
*
aiyah, if that is true than too bad for me sad.gif Somemore hassle to keep track after RM600 got to switch to another card. Thanks for pointing it out.

QUOTE(winner @ Aug 20 2010, 08:55 PM)
There was no double standards. I was Alliance PB customer but the currency conversion done on my Visa Platinum seemed to be a bit high compared with other cards. And now, I have terminated my PB account as well as the Visa Platinum with Alliance last week. I was disappointed as Alliance rejected my request to compensate me with 10,000 points for the RM50 service tax which will be charged next month.
This OCBC Titanium MC comes timely as a replacement to my Alliance Visa Platinum which has just been cancelled last week. I have just submitted the application to OCBC HQ today, and hopefully I will get the card next week.
*
winner, I am surprised that you closed your PB with Alliance. They are offering 3.3% for 1 year FD presently and Debit card gets 2% cash rebate.

From your previous posts you do seem to spend a lot and therefore should be getting max rebate per month at RM68+, that's RM18 more a month than OCBC RM50/month which works out to be RM216/year and after deducting RM50 for GST still get RM166 more than OCBC Titanium and that's not including the reward points (can get up to 60,000 points if spend RM5K/monthly which gets you about RM200 JJ shopping vouchers).

Than again, you got Just One thumbup.gif

In my opinion Alliance Plat is a pretty good card (not considering the CS which can be damn lousy depending on who is attending to you) if one spends about RM5K/month.

QUOTE(jonuslee @ Aug 20 2010, 10:01 PM)
The ocbc titanium now seems to be the best CC in the market??
*
Yes if purely for petrol, groceries and utilitles as it has auto annual fee waiver and GST waiver.

No. in terms of merchants/outlets discount and overseas spending (other cards offer 2X reward points).

No if you spend more than RM1K month as rebate capped at RM50/month comes next year. See my comments on Alliance Plat above.

In my opinion, this card is good as a primary card and once hit the maximum capped amount, start swipping with another card.

On Wednesday called HLB as I can't seem to find my HLB Plat card which I have not been using since this year. Got a call today to collect the card at the branch and they even waived the fees for the replacement card. Pretty good service I must say. Too bad HLB don't have much promotion that benefits me but they gave me auto 3 years annual fees waiver and 20,000 reward points which is enough to offset the GST for 3 years since I only need 7000 points to offset GST yearly.

For people who are thinking of getting Direct Access card, my advise is to get CIMB instead as it is also free for life without condition. Last weekend was at MPH subang parade and bought some books with DA WMC, supposed to get RM5 voucher for every RM50, but the staff at MPH said that's for CIMB card holder only eventhought CIMB website ad clearly states the offer is for CIMB and DA Mastercard holders. On top of the vouchers, CIMB/DA MC also get 5% rebate until end of this year at MPH.

Click below for MPH offer with CIMB/DA

Don't forget that the OCBC Titanium offers 5% cash back for Dining. This option is unique compared to the other cards. The utilities cash back also does not seem to infer that direct debit is required so quite easy to get rebates from those electricity and water bills.... challenge is where to pay... ^@%# merchant code
*
yah, you are right, do get 5% rebate for dining thumbup.gif Great for places that do not offer extra points or discount for a particular CC.

hahaha, me got no idea what the code means. I am waiting for the card and then only go clarify those codes. I guess they have to fine tune their offer and that's why haven't been marketing the Titatium card in the media.

Talking about dining, CIMB/DA gives up 10% at Starbucks everyday and on weekends at KFC and Bugger King! Click below for details.

I faxed in the Titanium card application Wednesday last week after 5pm, checked yesterday it was sent out on Wednesday this week (exactly 5 working days to process as informed by OCBC CS) but yet to received it today as Selangor holiday.

Satisfied with the CL assigned to my account, but then again comes next year the CL is not much of use since rebate capped at RM50 a month only and therefore CL of RM2K more than enough. Going to take advantage of the interest free period until end of year tho.

I did also check with OCBC CS and was informed that there is no cap of RM30 a month for petrol.

QUOTE(PJusa @ Aug 26 2010, 07:58 PM)
searched high and low on the website and didnt find that information. 50 bucks and no bonuspoints is not worth it for me. might be usefull as secodary card if i used the 5k with alliance bank already though.
*
you are right that this card is not worth it if spend more than RM1-2K since the monhtly rebate is capped at RM50 and no incentive to use it once we reached the capped amount. Having said that, this card is excellent for petrol and groceries for up to RM1K and to me most importantly it comes with auto waiver for annual fees and GST which saves me time asking for waiver.

To me having both OCBC and Alliance is a good combination if one spends RM5K - RM6K a month. With this two cards, the max cash rebate comes out to be about RM1316. For those spending more than RM6K a month, having these two cards still give max benefit, just that got to keep track when to use the 3rd card (if got merchant discount/offer, better to use other cards than getting 1.5-5% cash rebate).

QUOTE(PJusa @ Aug 27 2010, 09:49 AM)
i guess i will apply and then charge only my petrol and groceries to the card. this alone exceeds 1k easily and then the rebate is maxed out.
*
that's my plan also for OCBC Titanium, purely for petrol next year onwards.

Now with OCBC Titanium, I will get 6.5% cash back from petrol since I use Esso which gives me 1.5% cash back when redeeming smiles points for petrol rclxm9.gif

My own strategy is to max it with all the 5% stuff especially DINING as that is a segment not being covered by other cards. Example would be internet bills (utility), power, water. I don't mind living with 2.5% for petrol and mobile phone bills if my expenditure for the other parts can hit RM1k a month.
*
wah, you do eat a lot tongue.gif but you are right that OCBC is the only card that gives 5% cash rebate for dining. However the places I frequent for dining have discount or offers which is more than 5% for other cards except for TGIF.

As for mobile phone bills, I'm too lazy to go change.

maybe the banking hall staff only forwarded to the processing department on Monday? well yesterday chun chun 5 working days Friday to Friday, Call again now see approved or not. Still haven't got my card today tho. You asked for it to be collected at HQ or sent by courier. Zenquix's was fast as collect at branch.

8/18 was the day I faxed to them too and that was after 5pm. CS informed me that my card was sent out via courier last Wednesday 25/8 but yet to receive the card. Last week OCBC CS told me they sent out my card on 25th Aug by courier but have yet to receive it today. So called OCBC and the CS confirmed again card sent out on 25th but vis normal post shakehead.gif OCBC damn kedekut lah, somemore normal post not reliable. Not only that, card activated automatically, gave me a heart attack. Asked them to block the card until I get the card and call them back.

You need to earn at least RM12,500/month to qualify for the HSBC VISA Platinum, not RM10,000/month. Anyway, if you intend to use an existing Platinum credit card that is more than 1 year old. The card must comes with a minimum credit limit of RM30,000. Even if you meet their VISA Platinum requirements, there is still no guarantee that you will get it as everyone knows it is hard to get a HSBC credit card.
*
Well not sure about hard to get a HSBC Visa Plat credit card or need RM12.5K/month salary. Got mine HSBC Visa Plat at MidVallley in 2007 because an agent ask me for "help" while was shopping there. All I did was gave him my name card, filled in annual salary > RM100K without any proof and signed on the dotted lines. No calls or whatever from HSBC to verify I applied for the card and they gave me CL more than RM30K, maybe it is because I have a few cards where CL > RM30K. I don't even have a HSBC account.

On the other hand, my dad who has more than twice my annual income than me also have HSBC Credit Card but his CL is less than mine hmm.gif

MBB very stingy with CL. Once I applied for Petronas Gold CC, also because agent asked for help, they only gave me RM20K CL, but this time on the form I filled my salary >RM50K as did not really bother about CL as using it for petrol only. Then when got my AMEX Gold CC also they gave me same CL as it is shared, called AMEX up within few days after I got my card last year and requested it to be increased (asked them go check my AMEX charged card history) and they did it within a week to the amount I asked for.

Anyone here can shed some light on Citibank's Customer Credit Limit? It seems that in this month of August Citibank has come up with something new called Customer Credit Limit.

Shouldn't banks be more prudent rather than just keep on increasing the credit limit every chance they get. Doesn't this place them at greater risk if the customer defaults on settling the credit card debt?
*
well my Citibank Clear Card has reached the max CL so guess can't be raised anymore. I read somewhere that Citibank actually let you charged more than your CL but then there is some fees involved.

To MilesAndMore or David:

I remember someone asking which card allows it holder access to airport lounges worldwide but did a search here and the older thread but nothing. Can you please post this info in the first page so no need ask all the time.

Alliance - access to KLIA no limit.
Citibank Premier Miles - worldwide airport lounge twice a year (saw thier website need to apply before hand).

Apart from KLIA Plaza Premium Lounge, you may include other major airport lounges in Malaysia such as Plaza Premium Lounge in LCCT and JB. Most of the Platinum cards issued in Malaysia can only grant free access to KLIA Plaza Premium Lounge only, not the lounges in LCCT and JB.
SCB VI through Priority Pass and Amex Platinum charged card at most of the lounges worldwide.
*
QUOTE(Phelddagriff @ Sep 1 2010, 05:44 PM)
On the topic of Airport Lounge access, I think we should be clear on the following:

Citi Premiermiles gives access to Plaza Premier lounge at KLIA 12 times a year PLUS the Priority Pass with 2 free admissions worldwide (subsequent need to pay). PP is for principal ONLY.

SCB VI gives Priority Pass membership with unlimited free admissions for principal ONLY.

For HSBC Premier, refer to the following site: http://www.privileges.hsbcpremier.com/1/2/...ort-lounge-info
*
David, do update on above.

HSBC Premier don't even have access to KLIA lounge base on link above.

So that you no need to q to bank in cheque.

From what I noted, the older branches the CDM are installed inside the banking hall whereas the newer branches in never commercial projects do have a dedicated ATM/CDM area especially the bigger corner lots.

Up to today still not received my OCBC Titanium where I have call OCBC CS twice and they confirmed card sent out on 25th August 2010. Was informed they sent the card by normal post and I guess Merdeka holiday coupled with Raya rush our postal service damn efficient.

Only zenquix got his card collected at branch.

If by next Wednesday not yet receive the card will ask them to reissue and sent new card to Branch instead.

So to all applying for OCBC, ask then card to be sent to branch for collection.

Yes you can own a CC even if you don' contribute to EPF as long as you can proof your annual income e.g. Income Tax forms. Or alternatively, go to the first page of this thread, you can also get a CC by depositing a certain sum into banks.

For info, the CS told me usually it takes 2 working days to get the card if collect at HQ, I my case, the card is to be sent to branch so CS said he will try to expedite and get it to the branch by Thursday. See how it goes.

According to the CS officer, my card was approved on 1/9, and sent out on 2/9. And I received the card on 7/9. Referring to the application on 20/8, it took 18 days for me to get the card. The service is just so so, not very efficient but it is not that bad too.
*
winner: good for you that you have got your card.

As for efficiency, well I must say OCBC pretty efficient except for sending out the card via normal post but this has more to do with cost i suppose. Why I say OCBC efficient:

1) zenquix got his card within a week - submit at application branch collect at branch.

2) I called them up middle of the night to ask about the card when it was first reported here last month. CS was unable to assist me on my queries and said someone will call me next morning at 10am. Well they did call me around 10.30am but my phone was set to reject UNKNOWN calls. Called them back during normal working hours and was told application takes 5 working days to process.

3) I faxed in application form on 18th Aug after 5pm. Card was sent out on 25th Aug (via normal post!). Five working days to approve application as informed.

4) Spoke to CS after 5pm yesterday as yet to receive card and asked them to sent to branch. The CS promised to call me back this morning to inform me how soon I can get the card. At about 11am my secretary informed me OCBC called the office and left message, so checked my phone and it recorded 6 unknown missed calls as my phone was set to reject unknown calls. This shows the CS commitment to contact me.

5) Return call to OCBC CS but the CS attending to my case was busy and gave them another mobile number to call me. But I also forgot to reset the other phone to receive unknown calls too doh.gif At 1.30pm after meeting saw missed calls again (this time 3 for each phone). Called OCBC and was lucky the CS entertaining me happened to picked up my call and he informed me that due to raya can't sent card to branch before Thursday and asked if it is ok to pick up at HQ. I said ok and he said will call me back. This time set both mobiles to receive unknown calls, hahaha. Within 10 minutes CS called me to inform card can be collected after 2.30pm on Thursday at HQ.

5) Many people here can check on the status of their application, processing department doing their job and info updated to system.

So from my experience, OCBC CS are committed just like HLB CS and AMEX CS and a particular CS at Alliance where they will call me up as promised to attend to my matters. I must also add that all the CS I spoke to were very courteous just like AMEX CS. Too bad comes 1st January the max rebate is only RM50.

MBB Petronas Visa Plat has no annual fees where as the normal Plat does. So it saves you time asking for waiver.

Call OCBC and ask CS why so long? Your application still pending maybe it is because it has something to do with your documents i.e. photostat IC blur etc.

fell to the credit card trap about 4 years ago, record has been clean ever since ( been 3 years already ), was a very tough period, but finance is very much in order now smile.gif  just got my housing loan, car loan approved recently...but no credit card ... so any particular banks to recommend? have some about 50-100k to put in as deposit...just that its very convenient to have a card around smile.gif

Did you apply CC with the bank you have housing loan. Some banks like CIMB and SCB do give out CC with housing loan.

Today in The Star, it was reported that government considering to limit the number of credit card issue to an individual. Looks like the coming budget there would be some new conditions again for card holders.

Below is a graph in the article showing amount of CC and Personal Loan debt as of July 2010.
