I have applied for OCBC Titanum end of last month but my application got rejected. I discretely found out that the reason of my application of being rejected is because fall under score card. I do meet their minimum annual income requirement. It's my first CC app and I have no idea why my application is unsuccessful. I don't own any credit cards and I didn't take any loan. Is it bcoz first credit card is hard to apply?

25 Aug - Agent Called
26 Aug - Sent all relevant docs for Titanum application
14 Sept - Application unsuccessful. The reason is confidential but I found out d reason discretely, that is "Fail under scorecard" Was told by CS that to apply for the card would have to wait for another 6 mths

I thought just my application refused......
However, just to share.
I have called CS few times after my application failed to ask the reason, as u faced, CS unable to tell u the reason. But the CS told me can make an appeal.
She ask me to attached the income tax statement then e-mail to cap@ocbc.com.
I have mentioned i have FD in OCBC (My FD deposit few months ago b4 their cc launch).
Nothing more.
The CL given by bank less than 2x of my salary but close with the FD amount.
So i think the reason the bank approved my card is because of FD.

U can search back which some forumer have suggested to deposit FD then apply.
U may try it..
*
ohh...ya, from the way i see, it should be your FD that helps u. for my case, my salary just raised a few mths ago, so prob I think that might be the reason that I am not qualified. I will try to apply again see. smile.gif

due to failure to obtain OCBC Ti, i applied for HSBC Visa Classic, which just got approved today. I only knw tat HSBC has a lot of discounts in West Msia but nt East Msia, I'm at East Msia so it's like the cons. I applied coz it's like international. I stil gonna try apply for OCBC Ti. Plan to get 1 mastercard n 1 visa. Anyone got any feedback regarding HSBC Visa Classic or OCBC Visa Gold? or which bank's visa card offers more benefits?

AirAsia-Citibank Credit Card
1) Your everyday spending earns you free flights with the new AirAsia-Citibank credit card
2) Redeem points against flights, fuel surcharges and more
3) Enjoy additional exclusive privileges such as Priority Booking, Special Fares and AirAsia-Citibank Gold credit card privileges

Shell Citibank Credit Card
1) Up to 5% rebate on Shell fuel and 1.5% on any other purchases
2) Exclusive Citibank Gold Privileges
3) Gold-On-Call Assistance

So Tzeling, you are moving from 1 place to another place using car or plane? citibank's cards design their card to suit your requirement's needed.
*
Finally someone response to my quest. Thx for ur response, Omisae0! I move ard by using car actually. Currently I am using SCB Al-Saadiq Debit MasterCard which gives me 5% on retail/pharmaceutical and 7% rebate on fuel, these promo gonna end in Dec. So I think prob I don't need the Shell Card at the moment. As for planes, I got to book for my bro as he fly often but within the state itself. I plan to apply for Shell Card after my SCB Debit Master promo end tis Dec, while for AirAsia I'm stil thinking. Nt sure if I wanna get two cards from the same bank. And there is no Citibank at my place so must pay thru GIRO.

QUOTE(ck3lam @ Sep 30 2010, 01:05 PM)
Citibank Shell only gives you 2.5% on Shell Petrol and 0.75% on others. 5% and 1.5% only if you have outstanding balance if I’m not mistaken.
They have promotion last time of up to 10% rebate with outstanding balance condition of course.

I think the air flight benefits (insurance coverage, compensation) only applicable for principal cardholder and not applicable if you buy for others. You may need to check on this further. So any card offers 1% rebate which is equivalent to AA 2x points should be fine. For AA, you can have 1-day priority booking if that concerns you. For special fare, local flight doesn’t seem to really benefits. It’s already very cheap at promo price.
However, I always heard my brother complains about this card like the priority booking.

Citibank cashback plat offers you 5% rebate for any petrol, 2% for pharmaceutical, groceries and certain bills payment, but the retail purchase/ others only 0.3%. Petrol only capped at RM600, which is RM30 rebate.

In my opinion, citibank needs to come out with new benefits (they have already got many type of cards) or re-launch certain cards like what OCBC does.

Like what the others said, depends on your needs. I would think OCBC Ti satisfies most people’s need. 5% on groceries, utilities bills, restaurant, petrol and 1% for the others.
Maybe you need to ask yourself a few questions like
i) How much do I spend each month?
ii) What are the categories of my spending? Petrol, air tickets and…?

Then you can find your best cc to suit you. But you said only want to apply during Dec after your current debit card promo ends, so maybe that time got other better cc offer that suits you.
*
ck3lam, i have checked with Citi agent n yeah u r right, for air flights benefits e.g. insurance coverage, it's only applicable for the principal cardholder. Wat did ur bro act complain abt tis card regarding priority booking? Can share more regarding this issue?

At d moment, since I don't need fuel rebates card atm so I just applied for the AirAsia Gold MasterCard just to try out the card & to try out Citibank. Since for every card approval, they will give RM50 cash rebate into ur credit statement (nt sure is it on the 1st mth or 2nd/3rd mths). I would love to apply for Citi CashBack Plat but unfortunately I don't meet that requirement as my income is less than 48k per annum.

I agree with u tat Citi should upgrade their cards to better benefits esp like OCBC Titanum!

I actually wanted OCBC Ti, tat card reli satisfies me n it's very versatile. The only prob is my application was rejected although I am eligible for the card! So I have no choice but move on with other cards. I had applied for HSBC Classic Visa n I have got my application approved (nt yet receive the card tho) coz I wanted CC fr international banks n now I am kinda regret coz it doesn't have much benefits besides getting discounts at retailing shops.

I think banks are more interested in income rather than strictly salary and income can be from salary, from property rentals or other passive forms of income. So strictly speaking your salary + allowances = your income. I feel you stand a good chance so why don't you give it a try after all, nothing ventured nothing gained!
*
it's my 1st time applying credit cards so i have a lot of doubts. n yeah i did give a try on OCBC Titanum but failed, now trying to get Citibank's Gold Card...my agent said to me that I prob might nt get the Gold card since my basic is lower than 3k, although my income (basic + allowance) is 3k+. So let's see how it goes. I did clarify to her that I got fixed allowance tho. Seems like although u reach min Gold's requirement 36k p.a. but it's nt good enough to be qualified somehow.

The OCBC Ti really hard to apply, already heard many peoples failed.
Why not apply SCB Gold, got RM88 cash back, but i donno this promotion still available or not.
*
SCB don't have cash rebate cards, it's a reward type of card. ya got the rm88 cashback. I think stil on since the website got. Citibank oso nt bad got RM50 cashback...I would love to Citi's Gold Shell Card. However, atm I got tis SCB debit master which offer me 7% cash rebate on fuel and 5% on groceries/watson/guardian, nt sure wat else. So I go for Citi AirAsia Gold Master first. My agent tell me try apply AirAsia Gold Master if can get it, then automatically can get Citi's Gold Shell Card. If I straight apply Gold Shell Card n my app nt approved, they give me Silver Shell (the diff is significant) at least AirAsia Silver/Gold benefits same, just CL diff. So test if i can get Citi Gold 1st or not. Since the AirAsia would be useful for me n they got this RM50 cashback so can try out for 1 year, i think.

Bro ... I would suggest you to lower your standards to just the regular cards since your income are not really there and you are a 1st timer applicant.
All the banks for the cards you are applying will block your application for a few months should you fail. And these failures will show in your financial history.

There's no shame in getting regular cards for starters. All of us started that way.
*
I do meet the requirements tats y I wanna go for Gold. It's nt that it's shame to get regular card actually. It's just that Gold Card got better benefits tat's y i wanna go for Gold card. I did applied for regular cards, just got my HSBC Visa Classic approved. For those Gold, I wanna try my luck hehe. N thx for the info, I din knw failures in application show in financial history.

However, i don't like the card with annual fee, although some waive if u call them.
But if the bank don't waives the fee, so u need to cancel the card, it is not good for your record.

I stand corrected. Anyway, have you received any rebates from them then ? The first time they had such promotion, it ran between October 2007 - June 2008 and was only applicable to the e$aver debit MasterCard. The promotion was supposed to end in February 2008 but it was extended twice and eventually ended in June 2008. After that, they had another similar promotion. This time it was for their Saadiq$aver-i debit MasterCard. However, that promotion too had ended last year.
*
Yah, am actually using the Saadiq$aver-i debit MasterCard. I do receive rebates from them, applied thru the financial consultant at scb branch here i don think they'll con me eh...was told tis promo ending tis dec 2010. my fren actually using it also n yeah the rebates stil ON. if they extend stil it would be great hehe.

Me to received pin no and statement last 2 weeks but not yet get cc untill now. So call them and request them to sent to nearby branch but after one week still yet to get notify letter from them. Called them up this morning and they said will get back to me but no. Different bank from you. Any idea if not yet receive cc but received statement, is it we still have to pay the tax first? They said pay first before due date.
*
Prob u should call back ur agent (if u apply thru branch) or keep pushing the Cust Service ppl to follow up? U should have gotten ur card in 7 working days after u got the pin. For my case they say Sarawak so prob take a bit longer but Cust Service said to me if by this Fri I stil don get it then have to call them dy. U better pay for the tax first in my opinion, to avoid the late payment fee, just in case.

I have just received call fr SCB tis evening, offering me Gold Credit Card. I have a al-Saadiq current acc wif em which linked to the Master debit card. I was told just to fill application form & give IC. Other documents (payslips, epf, bankstatements is not required). They tell me annual fee is waived (for 2 years) and I get RM88 cashback once the card is activated. Means I don't have to pay GSTRetail rebate is 0.5% flat. I have surfed SCB website to see the existence of the promo but nt much details bt it. Is it really true tat u get RM88 cashback once ur card is activated, tat u don't even need to pay annual fee or GST. So the card is like free card. I wonder if I want to take the card coz I nt interested wif SCB CC, however they r offering me the card which I dont have to pay annual/GST so its like can give it a try for 1 yr perhaps or let it bcome spare card then cancel it off in the future. Any opinions?
