Yup Streamyx 4MB give users a special IP addrress range which other lower package streamyx will not get. this IP is better and fast then those other IP and get better speed to international sites. Just like unifi also another special range of IP. i think is because of your IP range they give u which makes the difference in ping time not the actual technology just because its fiber better then copper but not too sure on that some1 correct me if u think otherwise.  in the UK i use ADSL 2+ 20Mb speed getting 17Mb and ping is around 20 in comparison to streamyx with 90 ping
It's both. If you look at Unifi, you have VDSL and FTTH. The VDSL has higher latency (by about 30-40ms) because it's been configured on interleave mode at the multiplexer. Both users get the same IP and traffic prioritization at TM but due to the difference in technology being used to deliver the service, one has higher latency.

Then there's also IP traffic prioritization which is fairly obvious if you've been on the Unifi IP range vs 4mbps IP range vs standard streamyx.

Guide as requested,

Any other questions kindly drop me a PM.

Also I will not be held responsible for any hardware problems in which would occur if somehow you screw up on the steps. So please at least have some knowledge on how to configure your personal router before hand.

Or just read the manual of the devices before proceed with this guide.

Good luck have fun tongue.gif

Tried the guide, but even after restart, the INTERNET_R_VID_500 still can't access to internet, except if I connect the cable to LAN1, which is the pre-configured port for DIR-615. All LANs have been checked at Layer 3. Any help is really appreciated, thanks!

If you get the WHR-HP-G300N [Atheros], there is way to flash-back even to the original firmware.
Buffalo also has it's own version of dd-wrt for this model [I believe it's from BrainSlayer also], but I would still recommend the BS's latest built.

For WHR-G300N [Ralink], I haven't flash-back to original before, I believe should be no problem as well as mentioned here:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=67659&start=45
Hi, I'll try to write down the steps and reply you through PM as I'm not sure whether it's off topic to post here.
If I'm not mistaken, DIR-615 from TM is G1 model running on it's own firmware for TM's UniFi.
Those retail outside I think it's D1, D2 model.
Not sure whether the same or not, but I think might be different, otherwise TM no "special deal" with D-Link to provide UniFi customer "exclusively" liao .... wink.gif

Hi klseet, I managed to flash the WHR-G300N to dd-wrt firmware with success! And currently can replace the DIR-615 by connecting the WHR-G300N to LAN1 on Huawei. thumbup.gif

Now just trying to make any LAN port from Huawei to connect to the WHR-G300N. Tried prodigy's guide with no success, unfortunately. Only LAN1 can be connected to internet, even though all LANs are checked in Layer 3.

Thanks in advance for any help if you know why the Huawei is acting like this. notworthy.gif

Any Puchong UniFI user here? Bdr Puteri to be exact?

I'm from there at Puteri 10, so called 1st user from that area lulz.

@ mystiquemaya

Like I said, check your password again and make sure you follow the steps or just check back on the settings via the screen shots on the documents.

Also if possible do remove any existing currently connected PPPoE connection which is currently using your UniFi account. I don't think you can get connected with more then one connection at a time.

So sorry to miss out on that detail, in which I assume those router you are currently using has already been removed or somehow disconnected from the BTU already or via bridge to DIR-615 router.

It's exactly the same setup as per Pr0di9y's guide which I setup with him last night, please go through again, note that Layer3 only check LAN2, others uncheck.
After that You need to setup Static IP in the WHR-G300N as follows:
Attached Image

Actually may I know what's the main reason you flashed your WHR-G300N to dd-wrt?

Pr0di9y's method can just work on almost any router without flashing to dd-wrt, even stock standard WHR-G300N can connect already, no need to flash dd-wrt.
This is because the PPPoE connection is already setup in the Huawei BTU, you just have to setup Static IP on your own router will do.

If you have some specific purpose/reason which you require dd-wrt, since the WHR-G300N is able to do VLAN tagging and the Huawei BTU does not block ports, you may consider setup PPPoE & VLAN2.500 tagging on WHR-G300N and connect WAN to the BTU LAN2 without changing anything on the BTU.
I've just tested and confirmed it's working since this morning.

Any alternative hardware to replace DIR-615 since it's so fragile and not durable.

Not sure at the moment, seem like none at the moment ler, may be the market DIR-615 with TM's firmware will work?!
Hopefully there are some solution out before the end of 1 year warranty period ......

Hmmmm, just wonder how the 1 warranty period count, is it from the day we signed up or from the date we get the replacement?
Meanwhile, just use it kuat-kuat lah, hopefully can keep replacing until we get the more stable one tongue.gif

I suppose I'll have to do this also. I've run out of plug points to support another router and my wife will kill me if I have too many wires going around the living room. It already looks like a holy mess. During my installation yesterday I asked the techs about the router durability - they admitted that it fails VERY OFTEN, and they have highlighted to the management but other than that they're just salaried workers who have to do as their told.

That GPON above does not support normal phone output, unless you have a RJ45 IP Phone around to use together with it. Also if you do manage to get a RJ45 IP Phone, good luck on getting your phone to work. As most of those settings are done pre installation before the modem is ship/deployed to us.

As for everyone who use my guide again. Please oh please double check your USERNAME and PASSWORD, there is no rush in this. I believe that is the most / most likely the common problem that you will encounter.

Also please make sure you set a DNS server as well, it takes two to tango.

Have you call TM up on this? that should be the 1st thing you should be doing if you have issues with your connection. Performance varies between areas as well.

They should be able to send someone over to check on your connection btw...

I have just registered with TM UNIFI yesterday, upgrade from Streamyx Combo.

I was informed, my current telephone number (8062xxxx) will be changed to a new assigned number (8051xxxx), do you have the similar scenario?

My current house is double storey terrace with overhead telephone pole at backlane; I have few questions as follow: -

a) How does TM going to lay fibre to my house, ground floor living room from the backlane, will there be a major hacking work?

b) Anyone installed at 1st floor where hacking work is minimum for d/storey house?

c) I have house alarm connected to my existing telephone line, will there be extra charge if I ask TM contractor to split a tel line to the house alarm control panel?

Thanks in advance for replying.

You will actually get a new number, but you will have an option to keep the old number if you want to (but still have to pay the monthly rental).

It depend on your expectation if you want to conceal all your wiring in the wall or not? If not, there will install all the wire in a plastic casing. Even without hacking, it will not very nice also. I will recommend you to conceal all the wire in the wall. Make sure you get someone who is expert on this conceal work.

As long as you connect the a RJ11 line from Huawei fiber modem TEL1 to your telephone point. All your existing telephone point will be connected by VOIP which include your house alarm. You can DIY.

You main concern would be how far the telephone pole connection to your home. My setup is basically from the telephone pole to my house on the 1st floor. I'm not sure how long the cable was and also there wasn't much hacking needed. Just need to drill an exit hole to accommodate the fiber optic port installation onto your room. If you room is near the telephone pole behind your house then it would be added advantage for you.

I would say just use the telephone number they give to you, no rental fees needed for monthly payment. Your only concern would be local calls to other hand phone operators which is 10cents/min. Unless somehow you want to spend the extra money to pay the rental fee for your old phone line without having a Streamyx account tied to it, it would be a waste of money.
