I managed to completely take away the TM's DIR615 from the network. My solution as follows:

BTU -> RB250GS @Port 5 -> STB IPTV
...........RB250GS @Port 4 -> My Old Router

The RB250GS is Mikrotik 5 Ports Gigabit Manage Switch. I get it from Singapore at USD39.95 + about USD17.00 postage from Singapore to KL. After receive it, you have to upgrade the firmware to version 1.2, every things look fine. I think this is one of the cheap solution to get a stable network with IPTV and Internet. :-)

Hi. Looks like quite a few ppl interested in this router and after reading all the posts,looks like this is indeed a good solution. Too bad it's only 5ports. I would like an 8 port which microtik does not offer.

I will call up this place tomorrow (monday) to find out ifbthey have stocks. If yes,I'll be getting it from them. Wonder if sim lim sells this thing as well?

I asked them before, they said I have to do it myself ....
So I don't think TM will cancel any current telephone/streaymx automatically I asked them before

I was on Streamyx+Celcom combo and I have to run 2 separate places just to cancel my streamyx... sweat.gif

I'm still keeping my old number, just too many contacts listed with the old number la .....
as for the new number, i use it to call any TM number since it's free ! nod.gif

hehe thats what I have been wondering. the old number really got a lot of old contacts, not a good idea to lost it automatically. sweat.gif

As for the new number may be I treat it as Family/relatives/close friends number. Gonna make this number for private use tongue.gif

Er, may I know why you need so many ports on RB250GS? hmm.gif
We are using the RB250GS to do the VLANs tagging only, so we can connect our own routers & the STB directly to it.

I guess being an early bird does have an upside to it besides being the guinea pigs for the lousy equipment. My wife requested a specific number and we got it, no extra charge thumbup.gif

RB250GS is not a router. It is a smart switch/manageable switch.

Ok..ok.. It's a managed switch. 8 ports is cos I was hoping that it will take over the current job of my existing level1 8 port switch. (My home is all wired up)

What I was thinking is to replace the current switch, tag the iptv frames and just route it downstairs to the living room from the study room and the rest of the ports to the rest of the house pc and stuffs.

You can try the Procurve 1700-8 or 1810G-8 for 8 port web managed switch. It supports 802.1Q and lifetime warranty but more expensive than the mikrotik switch.

Btw, u guys are sure that the usage of dd-wrt will not be able to do the vlan tagging for iptv access ah? Just asking and making sure sice rizvanp mentions that it Willa use iptv once the dir-615 is flashed (just presumed that it also applicable to the rest of the routers which uses the dd-wrt firmware (I, on the wrt54gs)

Should be able to. Infact what I got is a Panasonic DECT phone as part of the bundle. I think it's just a simple normal phone. I bet plugging normal phone will also work so anything should work.

No splitter involved, the BTU provides a phone socket which emulates a normal line quite well.

Instead of replacing with a new switch, why dun you try something like the Aztech Homeplug 110EW(in pairs) to solve the ports problem for ur pc and stuff, well just my suggestion though.

Same here as well. But mine is intermittent. Screen freezes, the icon appears and it all sorta hangs for a few minutes. After that it recovers, and goes back to normal.

I seem to be getting a lot of zzzz sounds as well. It gets quite loud.

Mine was ok last night but this morning it is gone. It says Service Temporarily Out.

I'm getting really fed up with this. No matter what I do, it still doesn't work. I've called the toll free number but there wasn't a response. First thing tomorrow, I'm banging down the TM Point door to file my complaint.
