I was directed here by moderator to discuss about "Maybank Credit Card for purchasing Dell Lap Top".

Re-explain my situation:

> I am new to this "credit card" thing.
> I just started work for 3 months.
> Salary almost Rm2k.
> I want to buy Dell lap top online (0% interest).

How long will I be able to get my credit card approved to be used?

I want to hear from those with experience in this matter.

Thank you all in advance for your cooperation.

Being new to the job may pose a slight problem but you can try. If you want to get 0% interest from Dell then that leaves you with just Maybank and Citibank cards. Speed of cc application approval is dependant on whether your documents are complete or not and this can range from 2 weeks to 2 months on a worst case scenario. Being 3 months into the job, banks will ask for just about everything.

Citibank have a 1 hour processing but you have to go to the main branch in Menara Ctitibank Jalan Ampang (correct me folks if the facility is no longer available) and they will ask you to print out your EPF on the spot. I can't remember whether there's any additional condition to this.

Good luck! And do remember not to built debts so early into your job.

@Bizmind, if you are still on your job probation, then the likelihood of approval is non-existing.

Once RM 50 is being charged, call CS to use your point to redeem the waiver.

Did CIMB charge you RM 10 on the T&G Zing card? CIMB offer me the T&G Plat Visa (which comes with the Zing card) & charge me the RM 10, I cancelled the card outright.

As I know Maybank did not charge customer on the zing card issuance (that linked with the credit card for reload).

To the ppl who cut their DA cards, how long will it take for the card to be fully cancelled? I asked to cut like 2 weeks ago, but it still appears in my cimbclicks...

@Bizmind might not so easy to get cc espec when ur still on probation. Even if its possible it will take a while since all the cc dept for all banks will be very busy with applications (termination mostly). Anyway, no harm just applying for it first (in fact, if you happen to have a bonus on a particular month, use that month's payslip! sometimes it helps tongue.gif)

Many if not most, got their credit cards approved even during probation. I am one of them but that was many years back, unless there is a new rule stating probationary-in-work applicant cannot apply. You are above 21 years old with 3 months pay slip supporting with epf statement (with 3 months contribution in it), I don't see a reason why you won't be approved. However the approved credit limit could be as low as RM 3k though.
