i guess now banks are quite desperate for customers and started giving pre-approved cards even to normal customers like me. the card has a nice design to it though

i just got a pre-approved credit card from standard chart probably because of having existing accounts with them. it got my interest when it said that it will give 150rm for my 1st swipe, however when i looked at the annual fee (although free for first 2 years) i decided to give it a pass as i dont think i am willing to bleed that much every year (annual fee+service tax).

so far i think most banks allow using 10k points or so to cancel off the service tax, this i would think actually encourages some people to spend more than to be thrifty. not exactly what the government wanted imho.
i do not know if this is a repost, eon bank service centre just informed me that swiping 36 times per year will cancel off the service tax in the form of rm50 rebate. and this 36 times is not on top of the 12/24/36 times needed for the annual fee waiver. not bad for me i guess as getting 10k points is a bit hard... someone mentioned about standard chartered platinum minimum limit. this is a bit embarrassing, i was given a pre-approved standard chartered platinum mastercard having a limit of only 5k. either the bank is really desperate or i am just a small fry which i guess is true |

@kei18kun
do you have to pay the 50rm first or they will give you 10k points before the 50rm deadline? This post has been edited by mouldybread: Dec 28 2009, 09:09 AM |

QUOTE(kanethesun @ Dec 28 2009, 11:08 AM) hey all, currently I got about RM800+ outstanding balance, with all the shopping, petrol and my Toyota car service hi, i think in order to qualify for their my payment plan you need to have a minimum 500rm in a single transaction. see if any of your transactions have 500 or more, otherwise they will not do the installment for you.wanted to ask, can I call the Customer Service and apply for a installment payment plan? like 6 / 12 months? I am using EON - GSC card btw here is the link |

i called da the whole day but could not get through. such a big difference compared to last time where just pressing 0 would get someone to talk to. feels that da is so downgraded now in terms of customer service.

QUOTE(francistcc @ Feb 1 2010, 08:19 PM) just called EON bank regarding the promotion. it's only applicable for new card. for existing card need to swipe 36 times with total amount exceeding rm5000 only will waive the tax for u. i gonna cut this card d. thought can retain the matta card. sigh... i just asked them about this 50 rm waive thing from eon bank, it works a bit differently than what i previously thought for the existing card holders.-you will only qualify for the 1% rebate when you swipe 36 times or more within a year. -the maximum rebate will reach only 50rm so if i spend 3000rm with 36 swipes i will get only 30rm rebate and not the full 50rm rebate. source This post has been edited by mouldybread: Feb 4 2010, 04:35 PM |
