What I'm confused about is doesn't BNM fix our liability at RM250 for fraud? If that's the case, then why would anyone want to buy this insurance?

how bnm limit liability to RM250?

It is a good scheme, however, i think for my Citibank Plat, if police report is made, everything should be covered.

you sure boh? go back to V8 and do a search, Citibank may make you responsible for these charges.

yes you are right in a way where for fraud cases your liability is up to RM250 but BN does nothing, in V8, it was mentioned that person went to court and the judge fixed the liabilty at RM250.

Both if you should go to V8 and read more on this.

Thus our risk is capped at Rm250, thus why should you buy the insurance?

Same reason why Malaysia Airlines, Air Asia and Fireflyz still offer you the option to buy a flight insurance when most people booking through their websites are using credit card and majority of credit cards already come with a comprehensive flight insurance coverage.

Yes, it is in the credit card guidelines to issuers from BNM.
Refer here on page 2.
So there is no way for bank to charge you more than RM250 for fraud usage after reporting.

Bro, need more details on above,

1) Did you write in or email them or return the card to the branch to have your card cancelled?
2) How long after you cancel the card did HLB contact you and made you the offer?
3) When will they credit the 10,000 points?
4) Name of the person who called you and do you have his/her contact No.
*
Today's Chinese newspaper Sin Chew reported that for HLB cardholders who possess their cards before 2008,you need 7,000 points only to waive the RM50 service tax. On the contrary, those having their cards after 2008 would require 12,000 points for the trade-off.

If RM1=1 point, then you'll need to spend at least RM1k/mth in order to get the 12k points to trade off. laugh.gif
For those who are not spending as much, I'd recommend to cancel HLB then. sweat.gif

Cimb is giving new platinum card which aniversary is on december to existing card users regardless of their existing card aniversary date, so they only need to pay the RM 50 on next year december. I think this is a kind of loophole used by cimb to counter the tax collection.

I do receive the platinum card. Thinking of canceling the old cimb card and now the offer the platinum even my salary below their requirement.

I don't think will keep the card since I only use cimb for petronas fuel. The rebate is only around RM2-5/month..

Anything I will miss with cimb platinum card if I cancel? It will be many year before I can eligible to apply for platinum card from other bank.

lol... Just canceled my CIMB card.
No regret after cancel, but was very disappointed with the service. =.=

What's the point of having a Platinum when the service sucks?
I'd rather go for a Gold with good service than a Platinum with lousy service. laugh.gif

Not only that. For HLB, you need to use approximately 12,500 points to redeem a RM50 gift voucher. Further, rewards points expire every 3 years and extension request is not negotiable.

Don't worry. CIMB Plat will be / is the easiest to obtain, given CIMB's recent move to retain customers.

Many many others here have also received either pre-approved Plat CCs or 100% CL upgrade. It's a desperate move. biggrin.gif

Many banks increasing CL of their cardholders. So far UOB, Citibank and HLB have increased my credit limit this month.

Anyway, in your letter stating increase in CL for your HLB, did the same said letter mentioned that if you are the first to swipe RM15K you win a Rolex watch and first 50 cardmembers to swipe RM2,000 get 20,000 points?
*
Yes, why? I am not excited to these types of gimmicks. Definitely I won't be swiping RM15,000 just to get a CHANCE to win the watch. I guess I won't be the first 50 to qualify as the "contest" starts at 12.01 am on 1 Jan 2010. By that time, how many New Year celebrators have already swiped their cards at the pubs etc (hmmmm..... are they classify as retailers?)!

better cut the credit card earlier just to avoid any argument on the govt fees whether bill on anniversary or not. alot of discrepancy here and there dont want to pick up phone calls, need customer to go to the bank to cancel card etc

cimb /rhb/ hong leong lousiest customer service on the phone hold more than 30 min still talking to automated voice. put on voice automated

cacat service need to go to the bank to terminate the credit card purposely and cannot do it on the phone

whether on anniversary or not, if not using just cancel off those credit cards

Oh my God ! So it means that if one wants to have a more exclusive card from CIMB Bank it is gotta be the World Mastercard or VISA Infinite sweat.gif

If you go through their Rewards Catalogue again in the voucher section, you'll realize that the points needed to redeem a voucher is the lowest in Malaysia. Most banks require 12,000 points to redeem RM50 voucher while CIMB only asks for 9,500 to 10,000 points. This actually saves you 2,000 - 2,500 points per RM50 voucher and mind you 2,000 - 2,500 points mean you need to spend less RM2,000 - RM2,500 thumbup.gif

The courier fee for voucher redemption will be charged based on per redemption. So, just make sure you make a huge redemption at one go every time you redeem for something. Another option is to redeem credit for utilities bill such as TM, TNB and Astro. The credit will be credited directly into the account given and no courier fee will be charged.

It is confirmed that the tax will be charged on anniversary.

For MBB TP, can redeem RM100 Jusco voucher with 16,700 points only at MBB centre at 1U.

If submit through normal procedure, then I remember is about RM100 = 21k TP
