QUOTE(Shinichi @ Dec 31 2009, 12:04 AM) To waive RM50 gov tax, I think the cheapest option available now is Amex Gold CC, just need to spend RM2k on petrol and groceries OR spend RM5k on other purchases to get 10k MR points. Hope other banks will offer better card next year that gives more rebates... also hope SCB will reinstate JustOne and lower annual income requirements from previous 40k to 30k so I'm eligible to apply 2k on petrol is just easy, you have to spend about 40 per week only. For 5k, you need to spend about RM100 per week, not easy or difficult. But you spend so hard just to cover the RM50? and get nothing?

Thanks to our smart G, we need to spend more now.

QUOTE(simplykah @ Dec 31 2009, 12:42 AM) hi guys, out of curiousity i want to ask can name appear on card be different from name as in IC upon filling up form of application? Some bank can accept and some bank are very straight on the name put on the card. If your name more than 19 letters, I think they will allow short form (eg Mohamad change to Mohd)

QUOTE(btr999 @ Dec 30 2009, 10:20 PM) whats Form J/EA? i saw this in the document required to apply HSBC credit card. Must i have this if i want to apply cc from HSBC? If you have existing local credit card which is more than 1 year, you can use that to apply. If not, just attached your latest epf statement with your salary slip.

So what kinda better service do you get? Better bill collection service by the waiter? If I am to be offered Platinum, I'd focus more on the benefit rather than status. Nowadays, many can get Platinum cards.

QUOTE(lara_ @ Dec 31 2009, 10:01 AM) About the airport lounge access, where can I get more information about it? For example, which lounge we can access? which airport? Any dress code? Most Plat CCs issued by banks in Malaysia allow you to enter KLIA Plaza Premium Lounge only. Some banks even limit the number of entries to KLIA Plaza Premium Lounge. Therefore, Plat CCs don't give much priviledge for access to airport lounges unless you own cards like Amex Plat charge card or SCB VI giving you unlimited access to airport lounges worldwide.

Amex plat have very high annual fee about RM800. Usually very hard to waive.

QUOTE(zenquix @ Dec 30 2009, 04:50 PM) RM50 Parkson voucher only 8000 MBB TP. CIMB gave me a 50% credit limit increase. However likely going to cancel my DA Visa as there is zero promotions on it. No more grocery discounts DA MC is a KIV 1) 5% petrol rebate on 1st day of the month no more according to Contact Centre (no memo from HQ) 2) Only 2% petrol rebate on all days will continue. I don't drive a 3L guzzler, so I don't think I can pump RM2500 of petrol in a year just to offset the tax (means zero gain) Some discounts are nice though. 1) Grocery discounts etc. 2) Guardian 3) Starbucks CIMB is a really a Mastercard driven business... I saw today's ad in newspaper that 5% rebate is still available for CIMB Islamic Cards until 31st March 2010. Does this apply to DA as well?

The Amex Plat you mentioned is a credit card, which is FOC for 1st year and AFs for 2nd year onwards are waiveable subject to MBB/Amex's approval. The Amex Plat I referred to is Amex Plat charge card which gives unlimited access to airport lounges. I guess you have messed up these 2 cards.

QUOTE(David83 @ Dec 31 2009, 09:07 AM) J Form or EA statement comes from income tax. Form J used to come from LHDN (before Self-Assessment System) Form EA you get from your employer (usually before Mar-Apr) for tax filling.

Think this is CIMB Islamic Petronas Mastercard right? The equivalent card is CIMB Petronas Mastercard. Direct Access will not benefit.
