Yea, was trying to point out that you still get some cash back,albeit not the highest rate as per their advertisement (since that will require a substantial amount of c/f balance)
I do agree with you though, it's a rather annoying policy

QUOTE(winner @ Sep 22 2009, 05:12 PM) But then, why are you interested in this card since Amex gold cc would give you 5x points (equivalent to 2.5% rebate) for purchases in all hypermarket? That is so so true. Guys, all you need is the AMEX Gold credit card !!!! QUOTE(CrossFirE @ Sep 22 2009, 05:16 PM) hey guys, i was thinking applying one or two credit cards but now i was thinking of want to apply for Eon GSC credit card and HSBC credit card. is this 2 bank's credit card good? HSBC is quite good actually. The points needed to redeem for shopping vouchers are one of the lowest in town, the lowest being CIMB Bank and American Express Membership Rewards. For special discounts you need to refer to their SmartPrivileges catalogue online. Currently there is this 10% off at Starbucks i am taking advantage off QUOTE(CrossFirE @ Sep 22 2009, 05:16 PM) both of them got waived annual fees right? I have 2 HSBC credit cards. The first year annual fee for one of the cards is free. The annual fee for the second year onwards will be automatically waived provided you swipe it at least 12 times in a year. This applies to all HSBC Classic, Gold and Platinum credit cards.This automatic fee waiver however, is not mentioned in their conventional credit card application form but all the HSBC staff told me the same thing, should be a real deal i suppose. QUOTE(winner @ Sep 22 2009, 08:50 PM) Nevertheless, Citibank should seriously review its cash back policy. The requirement of "carried forward balance" would simply drive consumers away! True. It's bullshit really.This post has been edited by MilesAndMore: Sep 22 2009, 09:19 PM |

EON GSC cc is customised for movie lovers. If you are a die-hard movie lover, and frequently watch movies at GSC, this cc is suitable for you. Other than this, it is just a normal cc.any advice? |

QUOTE(CrossFirE @ Sep 22 2009, 09:26 PM) hmm.. so it is good for applying for HSBC credit card? Overall yes it is good. I'd say it's better than Citibank. Citibank seems to be such a hit even now and i still don't quite get that. The redemption points needed are also much higher compared to CIMB Bank, HSBC, AMEX just to name a few. If one day i have the money to become their Citigold customer and i am given a complimentary VISA Platinum credit card, i'll probably just put it inside my drawer. Or may be a year later i'll apply one of their cards, just for collection It just seems many are in favor Citibank credit card just because of the name "Citibank". They just want to use a card from a global bank. You want global bank ? Then go for HSBC. It's way bigger than Citibank (with more than 9000 branches in the world compared to 4500+ Citibank branches) and HSBC has a good image This post has been edited by MilesAndMore: Sep 22 2009, 11:51 PM |

Well, you gotta ask urself honestly. It can be a real big problem, especially since swiping the card and deferring payment is real tempting. Can get you into serious financial troubles if you misuse it.any advice? If you frequent GSC, the eon card should help. Apart from the discounts, you get to queue up at the gold class lane in the bigger cinemas (1u,mv,pav) which is a real plus point to me. |

I'm curious if owning a CC from international bank is necessary?
Currently I only own CCs from local banks only. |

QUOTE(David83 @ Sep 22 2009, 10:51 PM) Unless you're travelling overseas frequently. I don't think that's matter. As long as it carries the Visa or MC logo, it doesn't really matter which bank issued it, local or foreign.I don't have any CC issued by foreign banks. QUOTE(Shinichi @ Sep 22 2009, 10:50 PM) I'm curious if owning a CC from international bank is necessary? Definitely not an issue. My dad had no problem using his Maybank VISA in Hong Kong and even USA.Currently I only own CCs from local banks only. Just a note to CIMB Bank credit cardholders. If you have your CIMB CLICKS enabled, you do not need to call CIMB Bank credit card centre to inform them you're going overseas and you might use their card there. You can enable the card for overseas use yourself via CIMB CLICKS. Actually it is already set for overseas use by default but you can just go to check it before going overseas, just to be on the safe side This post has been edited by MilesAndMore: Sep 22 2009, 11:57 PM |

@MilesAndMore :
thanks for the tip. just checked, my cards are set as permanant @David83 : Right at the bottom, ATM Services --> Overseas Usage Maintenance. That's the only one I could find, assume Miles is talking bout this =p @vin_ann: Well some of us don't plan for movies. It's like we're in the mall or somewhere around and decide we wanna watch a movie. Then the card is useful I'm not bothered if the queue is exclusive or not, as long as it is shorter then the regular queue during peak times This post has been edited by ellimist: Sep 23 2009, 10:04 AM |
