For the OCBC new Great Eastern Mastercard, I think it's probably better for the general public to use Alliance CC (1.38%) or JustOne (between 2-5%) for the purpose of cash rebates as the rebate requirements are lower.

It is something to consider for high spenders and not to mention the card design is nice.

Just noticed the latest update from SCB. Bro MilesAndMore previously mentioned this in Credit Card V7

SCB Priority Banking VISA Infinite

Not much difference from your typical SCB VISA Infinite except that you can now earn points from your deposits in SCB as well. Stated in the website that this will be a complimentary card and upon invitation only.

hey guys is it true that now Standard Chartered will give you 100 into ur credit card once you activate it?

When I was in a shopping mall few weeks ago, a cc promoter from SCB told me that SCB would give welcome gifts of RM100 cash for Plat cc and RM50 cash for Gold cc, applicable to NEW SCB cardholders only.

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Sep 21 2009, 12:09 AM)
The card is nicely designed. Comes with a more generous rebate compared to the old OCBC Great Eastern Mastercard. You all big spender should definitely apply for this card but bear in mind that there is a cap. The maximum rebate for Platinum is RM3000/pa and RM2000/pa for Titanium card.

It's only a marketing gimmick. Even public can apply for SCB VI now.

I didn't apply for SCB Plat cc as I have already got other SCB cards. Even if I apply for it, I won't be given RM100 as the welcome gifts will only be given to new customers.

I am well aware that the SCB VI is open for the public to apply but I did not talk about this card. I mentioned about the SCB Priority Banking VI.

Yes. Discussed it in the Priority Banking thread last week. You probably missed it sweat.gif

It's different actually as the VISA Infinite for Standard Chartered Priority Banking customers have "Priority Banking" embossed on it. Just like the HSBC Premier Mastercard.

Except the various PB privileges, other features of the SCB PB VI are same as the normal SCB VI.

SCB did give RM50 rebate as an early bird incentive to 1st 1000 approved Just1 cardholders. Besides, it also gave 5000 choice points to each Just1 members as a welcome gift. I guess you will still be given 5000 choice points.

Bear in mind that on top of the 2% or 5% cash back, SCB Just1 cc will only give 0.5x point for every RM1 spent in overseas, unlike SCB Plat cc and VI which grant 3x points and 5x points respectively for overseas transactions.

actually u will only get the RM50 if u call them through the number. since me and my frens apply directly at the bank we do not entitle for it. i found out cos scb call me after 2 weeks i applied at the bank and they said u have to go through them in order to get the RM50. do u have your 5000 choice points on your eStatement ? as i still don't have it i did call to CS and they say they will put a request in that's all

I saw some SCB cc promoters in KLCC last month. It could only be seasonal.

The free 5000 choice points were shown in my 2nd or 3rd month statement.

Oh, did not realize you were already talking about it then. Thought you were talking about the OCBC Great Eastern Gold Mastercard as they only had this back then. It seems they no longer offer the Gold card now and instead they are offering Titanium and Platinum Great Eastern Mastercard now.

The is no mentioned of auto fee waiver in this newly launched OCBC Great Eastern Mastercard. Last time the annual fee for the OCBC Great Eastern Gold Mastercard will be automatically waived if you have auto-debit service for your Great Eastern insurance policy registered with the card.

It is a Titanium card. Something in between Gold card and Platinum card. Standard Chartered is not accepting new application for JustOne Titanium Mastercard at the moment.

Yes ... JustOne is another card from SCB. Don't care about the Platinum status ... only you need to care about is the cash rebate. Not sure whether this card is back for public application as new application was suspended by SCB a few months back.

Oh so this card got nice rebate so they temporarily suspend the application? Normal Platinum don't have rebate right? JustOne also have the RM100 credit?

justone was having technical issues so they suspend the card too. I guess the first batches are the guinea pigs to test what else is wrong with the card before they relaunch the card. I think the early birds got RM50 and it was in this website previously.
