I realize that many former in lowyat are holding citibank cc, i want to know what is the benefit with citibank cc compare with another bank cc?
*
On the other hands, there are several people I know avoiding it like the plague due to pass dishonest practice like charging you late fee when there are no late payment.

I think this is because citibank can be used on oversea transaction,
*
All Visa and Mastercard can be used for overseas transaction with equal conveniences, not just citibank's. In fact, I would be more interested to know whether they charge overseas transaction charges or not.

Conclusion - MBB Petronas Card Lowest Fees for Overseas Transactions. But Alliance have 2X rewards points and cash back.
*
Please note that Alliance's cash back is limited to RM5000 spending. No cash back above that figure.

@Aeon : DirectAccess gives rebates for all petrol stations. 2% iianm, and 5% if you pump on the 1st, or something like that, can't really remember
*
DA petrol rebate ends 31-Dec-09. RHB's Travel Money ends 30-Sep-09.

AFAIK, only AMEX Gold CC gives 5x reward for petrol (equivalent to 2.5% cash back) with no time limit. A major reason why I applied for one and got it in 2 weeks.

It is already known for quite some time that Petronas kiosk cannot detect AMEX and you need to swipe it at the cashier. Some have also said that certain Petronas stations do not even accept AMEX, even if at the cashier counter. Thank God there is always Shell  biggrin.gif
*
May be the card holder is not a bumi? AFAIK, all Petronas station are not being given to non-bumi to operate.

What is your purpose of saying above? What has being bumi or non bumi has to to with CC?
*
Yes, it is totally irrelevant and ridiculous. Just like only bumi are given license to operate Petronas.

Unless you're travelling overseas frequently. I don't think that's matter.

I don't have any CC issued by foreign banks.
*
As long as it carries the Visa or MC logo, it doesn't really matter which bank issued it, local or foreign.

Overall yes it is good. I'd say it's better than Citibank. Citibank seems to be such a hit even now and i still don't quite get that.
*
Citibank is one of those bank I will never want to touch again. Terrible.

my most recent experience with trying to order hong kong mtr cards online (5% discount) was Malaysian bank cards being flagged as  high risk and rejected (even though Verified By Visa and Mastercard Secure Code used).

The high risk was told to me by a Hong Kong MTR customer care person who called me to explain why my multiple attempts failed. Did not try with an international bank card though.
*
Many many years ago I have similar problem and was given the exact same reason, i.e., Malaysian card are high risk so they are being declined.

So I got my friend to use his Malaysian issued Citibank card and that was being rejected as well. Apparently they go by "Country of issue" only. Nothing to do with which bank.

thanks ... then i'll make a call to convert my card ... since im using this cc solely for petrol ... their rebate system is acceptable for me  thumbup.gif
*
Why bother. Just go get a AMEX Gold credit card and no such confusing rebate system. All petrol purchased are given points that can be converted to cash rebate. Work out about 2.5% cash rebate. As for any other non-petrol purchase, it is equivalent of 1% cash rebate.

Only problem is, some places don't accept AMEX.

tht was using online. how about we swipe the card in the HK for purchases?

will it be accepted?

My many many years ago problem with Malaysian card being rejected was also being used online.

But for past few years when using Malaysian card overseas in UK, Thailand, Indonesia and China, no problem whatsoever.

I may not be necessary but I always practice informing my card bank when I went overseas to avoid complication. I do not want them to call me on my handphone when I am overseas to confirm any purchases that I may have on the card. Imagine the handphone bills..... vmad.gif

Dear all,

I had face a problem, hopefully someone can give me some information about the way to solve this problem.
Today, i check online bank statement, there are extra charges Rm120 at the same day that i purchased the alcohol worth only Rm75.
The amount is stated differently, Rm120 first then Rm 75.
Anyone, Can tell me how to solve this problem? how to cancel the extra Rm120 charge? between i can confirm, i had sign on the receipt with paid Rm75 only.

notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif  Hope someone can help me
*
Did you sign for the RM120? If not, just called CC and tell them you didn't sign for it so will not pay. Proceed from there.

If I were to keep 2 cards, I will make sure:
1. Each from different bank.
2. From Visa and Mastercard. AMEX too unreliable on acceptance.

Give them a break. You will scratch it anyway sitting in your wallet.

I only know about the RHB Travel Money. Every time I wanted to cancel, they came out with a few month of petrol promotion. Right now, it is 5% off every weekend and 2% other time.

And I am canceling my RHB because I felt cheated in the way they give the petrol rebate. I spend over RM300+ all on weekends and they only rebate me RM4+. What the heck!

If you use @ Overseas frequently.. I will advise to go more on a World Wide known bank i.e HSBC, CitiBank..... and etc
*
I may disagree. I think it really does not matter which bank you use because they only recognize MasterCard and VISA logo anyway. Therefore, I will pick a card that does not charge for any overseas transactions which can go as high as 2%. That's a lot of money.

I have cut RHB, Hong Leong, UOB, Citibank MasterGold....others will be soon after I redeem my points.

After reviewing, noticed that the left are Master... No VISA  shocking.gif

Same here. After cutting off the least usable card for me, I ended up with no VISA as well.

Yeah I do agree on what you said.

But sometimes some overseas merchants may be a bit reluctant to accept a credit card which is not known to them.

However I am not really that well verse on that and probably will leave it to the expert to comment more. smile.gif

I had used EON card overseas with no problem and I am sure EON isn't a well known international bank.

I suppose the difference is in the privileges.
I don't see any differences. The most important privileges that is important is whether they accept or not accept our card. If they accept my internationally-unknown EON, then that is good enough privileges we need. And that's the main reason I will be cutting my AMEX.

DA is very "efficient"... I cancelled my cards at Penang branch 3 weeks ago... yesterday called helpline... need to wait for 5-10 minutes... then they tell me my card is still active. Then I question why so long still have not cancel. Then they tell me I can actually cancel DA by calling in. They will block and then close the card account.

I'll call back again in few days to check the status...
*
DA has good CS because you can still speak to a real person. I tried to call Alliance 4 times today, got put on hold and then disconnect automatically. I gave up.
