Hrm? I think I can count my posts in this sub-forum with one hand. You must have mistaken my post in kopitiam.

It makes you lose WATER weight, it's the fat weight you want to lose, the water keeps you alive, makes your blood flow, helps to burn the fat and builds muscle. I just don't understand why people want to go to sauna to dehydrate themselves.

Please read/research more before making such unscientific statements and mislead others here.

The sauna is lovely to make you get pins and needles and this lacticey acid feel all over.
And wonderful way to somehow get me more relaxed. That's why I use it personally. I gain 3 inches (I've measured) on my splits just after doing a sauna. Maybe no reason for it to happen, scientifically but it's workin well for me.

Hi everyone,
I want to setup a Home Gym in my house because think that joining a Gym club outside is not cost and time effective for long term

I was searching around the forum and found the below items that might be what I need to buy at the beginning. So, I would like to calculate how much I need to pay. Please advise me on price and brand for following items. I am now in Sabah, only have Giant here, so I hope I can find most of recommended items in Giant. Thanks.

1. Workout Bench (Trojan) (< RM200)
2. 2 Dumbell Bar
3. 1 Barbell
4. 2 x 10 kg plates
5. 2 x 5 kg plate (RM 70)
6. 2 x 2.5 kg plate
7. 2 x 1.25 kg plate
8. 2 x barbell clips (RM10-15)
9. Carpet (for equipment)
10. Yogo Carpet (Mat) (< 100)
11. Harbinger Gloves Pro Wristwrap (RM 81 - L no stock)
12. Jumping Rope???

If you want to do deadlifts, you'll need 20kg plates as well. I hate them because they're difficult to manipulate, but they raise the bar to the right height for the deadlift. It also gives you more poundage. W/o them you have too little.

kotmj,
Thanks for your suggestion. I think I will get the 20kg plate when I am ready, may be after 3/4 months. As I am quite new to body building as well. :-)

Do you know the price and brand of any of the items above?

If you have two dumbells, how are you going to utilize both at the same time if you have only two plates of the same weight? I have four of each.

majority of us here don't actively try to get rid of sore muscles. we wait for it to heal naturally. btw, does yoko yoko or muscle relaxants help reduce the soreness?

Muscular soreness from tissue breakdown and muscular soreness from tissue tightness and tension, are two different things.

Get thick rubber mats instead of this, unless you're looking to get a bunch of cracked floor tiles.

I am a beginner, so buying 2 of each first. Then will buy more when needed. Since you have 4 of each. May I know what is the roughly price for them? Thanks.

I think he meant that you don't have enough plates to use both the dumbbells at once. Let's say you only have 2 x 5kg plates, and you wanna do an exercise which requires both dumbbells at once, eg bench press. So basically you'd fit the 2 x 5 kg plates on one dumbbell for a total of 10kg. Then, you'd have no plates left to fit onto the second dumbbell.

So... I'm guessing those muscle relaxants are meant to relieve only the latter?

The weight plates are now RM10/kg at Tesco (rubberized). Last year, the cheapest source was at Aibi Mid Valley at RM4/kg (painted). A barbell will be about RM160 at Fitness Concept; those at Carrefour are only 5 feet long (too short).

You don't need to know the price of these things. Just find them and pay for them. Life is too short to save a few ringgit here and there, or trying to search for the perfect whatever. By the time you find the perfect bench at the perfect price, the guy who bought the first passable one he found would have built gladiator pecs.

I started out with a routine. I then bought the hardware to enable me to do the routine. Rippetoe's novice program.

:-) Thanks for all the above advice and suggestion.

I calculated. I roughly need to spend between RM1k to RM1.5k. I am going to shop tomorrow in Giant.

Any other advice and suggestion will be appreciated. :-)

I have to concur with Kotmj.

Why not just go get a set of dumbbells NOW, and do something NOW.

Two 15kg dumbbells and do floor press, overhead press, rows, swings, snatches, squats, lunges, etc...

You can also try the Javorek DB complexes #1 & #2 (link-o-rama)

Then add those equipment along they way. You don't need buy them sekaligus.

does it stay after you went home? could it be possibly caused by the blood pumping?
