I mentioned in my post that it was intended towards athletic training, which was why I said 'If aesthetics if your goals then someone else could give you better ideas'.

I know this is the BB thread, which is why I'm not gonna elaborate unless you want me to, don't wanna go off topic

Btw, I don't play with the weights, I fight to lift them.
I'm not sure how serious this sprinting thing is for you. If you are serious about it, you might want to check out the works of Charlie Francis. Basically what he does is:

Monday/Wednesday/Friday - Sprints/Pylos in the morning, squats/powerclean/bench in the evening. I'm not saying those are the only exercises his athletes do.

Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday - Tempo runs

Again, sorry for going off topic, this is the BB thread after all.
*
I'll check him out, thanks.

Guys when i try to do my push press, i tend to tip toe, i try to exert the force from my hip but still the same. Could that be my stands? My legs are in shoulder width or it should be wider?

Or i m suppose to tip toe a lil while driving the bar off the shoulders?

PSA: Getting sick and not eating/sleeping enough is a great way to cut up (my abs have become visible for the first time in years), but I certainly don't recommend it to anyone else.

Yeah, but basically being bulimic (I couldn't keep food down) for five days isn't worth it!

Lol... Why are you guys doing push presses when conventional exercises such as seated bb/db press build mass so much faster? The first time i ever went to Terry's gym and he saw me doing MPs and push presses he told me to scrap them off my routine.

I do have those in my routine but push presses provide something I can't get from seated presses, the "feel good" factor.

Doesn't make sense I know.

I introduce this exercise to my jim wendler's 3/2/1 program, it suppose to increase my maxes by 5lbs(max) each month. I m still try to test out this program and before this i had done db push press which i can roughly hit 65lbs each side but ... yes plateau lol (wasnt using this program tat time). Since i m still on the first cycle, so i want to c how far i can go with this exercise. smile.gif

I want the cytogainer too...

Is actually i tot the overall compound movement would be good in building up strength for my shoulder. I used to do seated db presses and usually would be doing high reps and if i do that on my low reps day, i dont think i can lift those db thou sad.gif

For the seated bb press is not behind back right?

Stick to the Rippetoe 1st, you no need DB works. just follow whatever rippetoe teach. you no need other movement for a moment
once you finish rippetoe (assume 12 week). you should have a nice base and basic knowledge, and you are free to move to other

Reps too low brotha. You ain't gonna get hypertrophy for that.

I go 4 sets heavy 8-10 and 1 pump set light 15-20. So that day at Terry's gym I did:-
80lbs x 12 x 3
75lbs x 10
50lbs x 25

Plus the other isolation stuff; front, lateral, rear delt raises and shrugs. You get the idea bro.
And dumbell press are a compound movement.

If you're doing Rippetoe's stick with it. But you can also gain massive size from a conventional beginner bodybuilder's program too. When you do dumbell exercises, you need to stick with moderately high reps. 5 reps or so just won't cut it.

Another option is also viable. I used to think this way too but one can get massive gains in size AND strength from a conventional bb program too. Still, Rippetoe is a solid program.

See.... the thing is, don't follow this exactly. One thing Terry says about bodybuilding is go by feel. Instinctive training. Sometimes you feel a lil bit under the weather, so just hit it up with higher reps and lighter weights. If you're feeling particularly strong, go for PR's but poundages are NOT something you should be paranoid about.

What separates a successful bb'er from a newbie is not only the training, but the ability to know their body, to ditch what doesn't work for them and to apply and modify things which exactly suits them. But certain things do apply. Low reps all the time is a no-no. Go for the pump, always the pump = blood flow, fascia stretching, nutrient transport, I'm sure you know these basics.

From my view it is good to stick to the basic like rippetoe program, as there is only 4 excercise. you can familiar with the movement pretty fast
Bodybuilding program involve too much of exercise, newbie might get confused with it(unless he/she get someone experience guide them)
and after they learn the basic, they will got a decent base and knowledge, and free to go to something else

most of the bber in my gym never train their leg. improper program lo
