I'm currently hunting for Macbooks and i happened to bump into this 1st gen Macbook Air 1.6ghz at the garage sales selling @ 2.8k. I found it cheap and is now considering. I'm a graphics designer and I used Photoshop and Illustrator heavily so now my question is, can the 1.6ghz spec be able to handle such heavy tasks
*
Well, it'll probably just barely do the job. But if I were you, I would be looking at the MB/MBP instead. Few things to consider...

Is 120GB sufficient for your portable use?
2GB will be laggy when you are processing multiple files and multtasking

And the lack of USB ports just doesn't seem very usable for your work.

I think you should try editing batch of photos using iPhoto and you will face the same problem.

Is anyone of you here facing the problem like, when you refreshing your facebook home page, then it will bring you back to those old post(which is hours ago)? and you need to keep refreshing the page until you can see the most recent post. What is the main reason caused this? Cookies? i tried cmd +q safari but when open it again, the problem is still there.

it's happen on iphoto and idvd. safari for me is fine. can't find any solutions for this problem. it's work good in L. guess that's must be something wrong with the SL. wonder apple when only will release some fix for this.

Checked google and apple discussion..seems like quite many ppls having problems at SL. aiks....

Trust me you will regret ; this first gen model is terribly terribly slow. I bought it and sold it off after a month. This is even worse when you have few windows open at sametime. Since you specially wants it for graphics, just forget it . I only use it for office work and browsing , emailing only

After you install snow leopard, you need to upgrade the iLife09 package - just select software update . I have no issues with iPhoto and IDVD - works perefectly well

nope, its already soldered to the motherboard/logicboard, plus i believe the MBA you are getting is the version with 667MHz of ram,i doubt you can handle multiple layers in PS alone let alone run both apps at the same time.
