faster processor, longer battery life, there's another "pro" word under the screen, additional SD card reader and FW800 and the audio in out port combine into 2 in 1. kensington lock moved to sit with dvd slot.

its just a small upgrade.. 2k is alot of money and if u dont need the 'new' features. get the previous model.
i guess if u wait long enough maybe u can get a macbook pro 13' at that price.

btw they just 'upgraded' the name for 13', frm macbook to macbook pro and added minor features.

I'm currently hunting for Macbooks and i happened to bump into this 1st gen Macbook Air 1.6ghz at the garage sales selling @ 2.8k. I found it cheap and is now considering. I'm a graphics designer and I used Photoshop and Illustrator heavily so now my question is, can the 1.6ghz spec be able to handle such heavy tasks

nope!
the model you mention has a Intel GMA graphics card. that's not recommended for heavy graphics, especially in Photoshop & Illustrator.

If can wait until 6 month for get this price...i think it's worth to wait. For at the moment price still okay i think since price it's same with 2nd hand white macbook. Btw, i'm just doing some minor editing and surfing. Don't want to spend until RM4k above for surfing only.
