planning to buy Polar Rs300x SD.
Where should i try for best price?
thx
seesawseen2k: Good pick there. Polar RS300X sd is going for RM872 and is compatible with the G1 GPS sensor should you be interested in adding it in the future. Will say this is the best bang for the buck model.

do you know any supplements or things i can eat to improve my performance during competition?
There are no miracle supplements or easy step in improving your performance. Training is the best answer here. You can take recovery supplements like protein to help you recover faster for your next training session or even race. As we here are endurance athletes, most of us here take Endurox R4 which is a recovery glycogen and protein supplement while some others take whey protein. It's your personal choice, so the best is study the nutrional tab on each product.

Well, I think it's more like recovery & replenish Ur energy levels. I dun think creatine will work in an endurance sport, but U can always try & share the results here.

I do take Glutamine. In fact, those who takes Endurox R4 do also take it as it does contain a little. It helps promote muscle repair.

As for Creatine, our body does produce it but only a little. It does help "boost" up the energy level but only for a short limited of time, so as tenno mentioned, it doesn't really help in endurance sports. Besides, too much of it leads to kidney damage.

Here's a noob question : How long after eating do you run? Like eat at 2 run at 7 or something cause sometimes after a while i'll feel like puking till i can't continue. Or is that unrelated to food as i make sure it's at least 4-5 hours after i last ate.

depending on what type of trainers you want to get. If u wanna get a high mileage trainers, look for more cushioning. Asics Gel kayano is a terrific choice, but the price is way off the chart, RM600. But it will last you for years. I am a medium arched runner and it suits me well!!! If you are looking for lightweight racers, try adidas supernova, pretty light but u sacrifise stability and cushioning.

Adidas Boost is the one with spring-look cushioning system right ? That shud give U all the cushioning U're gonna need, full length somemore. Just that, it's a little on the heavy side. Similar to Nike's full length Max Air 360, all the cushioning, with heavy weight penalty. I think one shoe with good cushioning but reasonably light weight is the Lunarglide.

Oopss.. My bad. It's not full length Boost, it's only half-length.

Solid food can sit in Ur stomach for four hours. That's the study done on Tour de France riders. That's why they switch to liquid for their feeding. I had this problem too. I solve it by eating banana & 2 slices of bread at least 90 mins prior to my 10K races. Works for me so far. For training runs, where I dun have enuff time gap to eat, I just drink some milk, maybe a slice of cheese. Then off I go. rclxms.gif

I sell Saucony and with that price range there is a few models to consider

1) Jazz 12 (neutral cushion) - RM230
2) Triumph 6 (neutral cushion) - RM320 (Voted best cushion shoe by Runners World USA 09 season)
3) Omni 7 (Cushion stability) - RM275
4) Hurricane 10 (Cushion stability) - RM320
5) Tangent 3 (Light weight cushion with mild stability) - RM310
6) Fastwitich 3 (Light weight cushion with mild stability) - RM260

Yesterday did a 12k slow jog from Bukit Aman car park - masjid wilayah and go back using double hill. It feels good that i haven't lost my stamina as in fasting season, i only manage to run around 5km only.

You might need to google around bro for these 'supplements'. What i can say is, if you are really want to improve is eat clean. Avoid oily food, hi cholesterol food. A lot of thing you might need to read around. Runners World is the best source. Or for me, i got my source on Dean Karnazes's Book. 'Ultramarathon man: the confession of an all night runner'.

Eat correctly within certain time. Drink a lot. The you can see the difference. You may lose some fat in the process though.

Supplements that people usually takes is whey protein (for muscle repair and recovery). Isotonic drinks, product like endurox, some people like to take No-Xplode (Before run). Some can just take powerbar products. Mostly all this products promotes recovery, which in this matter helps on your performance.
