But you get stuck pending to settle hotel bills. Bank CC try to call you to verify, but can't get through due to h/p or roaming problem. Bank CC reject hotel payment.Panic, stress, sweat, embarrass, etc. But once you are frequent traveller and banks know your pattern, then it is alright not to inform. |

QUOTE(ronnie @ Jul 6 2009, 10:33 PM) You seem to contradict yourself..... Best to call the bank to let them know of your whereabout in case you are using CC. Sorry , the last sentence should sound like this , just realized i lead some confusion in my own words " If you are still paranoid about merchant rejecting / pending your transaction when abroad , you may contact your issuer prior to overseas,anyway informing the bank won't do any harm right? Slightly different situation. A friend had MBB Gold Card and he is a millionaire. He went overseas and his wife used her supplementary card to buy RM300 stuff. The bank called up once to verify and he told the bank not to do that again because it is such small amount and he is paying expensive roaming charges. When the wife used her card again the next day to make a 2nd purchase, the bank called him up again. He returned all his cards soon afterward. |

Part of article in The Star Today
"Citibank, which has over a million cardholders, is currently one of the local market leaders in the card segment with a market share of almost 20%. According to RAM Ratings, Citibank, Maybank and CIMB Bank were ranked first, second and third respectively in terms of the amount of credit card receivables as at Sept 30, 2008. Credit card receivables are outstanding loans. Citibank’s credit card receivables amounted to RM4.4bil, followed by Maybank’s RM3.32bil and CIMB Bank’s RM2.57bil in that period." It is very embarrasing to the card holder when this happen. Other customers or the cashier will make funny faces.
The card holder also will like have no trust feeling from the bank. What I think is that the merchant or that card transactions have problem or is suspected being hacked. Thats why the bank call the card owner. It is all for your own good........ He says he keep his HLB cards inside the drawer and never use it before since activation. He just use his MBB classic all the time for the past few years. I think he is blowing a big cow over this story telling. I suspect he don't have the HLB Plat la. This post has been edited by zazaza2009: Jul 7 2009, 09:24 AM |

@zazaza2009,
Perhaps he just doesn't want to take the risk of losing the Plat? I don't see what's wrong. However, it's weird he's got 3 separate cards from MBB because I know there's this rule whereby a cardholder cannot be issued with 2 Visas or 2 Mastercards from the same bank; unless one of which is a co-brand card |

Further to the disbelief, he says that the MBB 3 cards is a package card. Mailed to him as a 3 cards package. Haiya, I don't believe la, think I baby meh.........
Lame la, tell 1st lie, then tell 2nd lie to cover the 1st lie, tell another lie to cover the 2nd lie and fourth lie to beautify the "Whole Picture". Anybody heard of MBB giving 3 cards as a package? 1 classic + 1 gold and 1 mastercard? If he never use the Plat also keep in his pocket la, for virtual status sort of thing. Why keep in the drawer? Flush it down the toilet or return it to the bank better. Later kena annual fees some more. Is Michael Jackson funeral today? Must grab the video and keep it for memory. Long live the king. QUOTE(Gen-X @ Jul 7 2009, 08:40 AM) Part of article in The Star Today I am not surprised citibank has the largest receivables. Even if you paid them full within due date, they still list it as unpaid (and hence receivable). They do that so they can charge you late payment fee. For me, the discounts and points offer by credit cards are a 2nd priority.
My first and formost priority when choosing a card is the annual fee waiver and the banks ATM location availability so that I can settle outstanding amount without travelling too far. My house is very far from Citibank Penang and it is inconvenient to settle the outstanding. I like HLB because they have many ATMs at my house and working place. I heard Citibank likes to send CC to your house without applying for it and later bill you for the annual fees. The RHB Tesco card is a fake la, free, free, free they tell you. But inside the borang keahlian, small letters indicate RM80 annual fee for classic. What a ROB (Van Damme). Citibank lame la, easy to get the CC, low annual income also can be approved. They will send to you extra cards, like you apply for VISA then it is accompanied with Mastercard, package like sort of thing. Lame...lame...lame. @zazaza2009,
Er.. keeping Plats in the wallet doesn't help boost my ego; perhaps it's the same for your colleague too! Perhaps U think differently but there's no right or wrong in such situations. |

You don't know how my friend in reality yet. Tree need tree bark and man want face skin type. There are billions of personality on Earth, you and I are just 2 of them and yet we think differently.
Ever bump into someone who argue to stay alive and always want to pretend he is very high level in knowledge and manager type of face? He is that type la. QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jul 7 2009, 09:55 AM) @zazaza2009, I find no rationale of keeping the Plat cc that one has never used. Why should you take the risk if you don't even use it? This could happen if you pay by cheque using the cheque deposit machine, even if it is a local cheque. I encountered this problem with CIMB a few times although the local cheques were deposited 1 week earlier than the due dates. So now, I seldom pay by cheque and if I wanna settle the cc balance via cheque, I'll make it soon after I receive the statement. This however, makes me lose the benefit of 20-day interest free period. |

CL normally 1/3 of your annual income as a rule of thumb ie. for RM150K per annum income, you are normally given RM50K CL subjected to overall CL in existence ie. if you have multiple cards, chances are the limit will be lower etc This post has been edited by tgeoklin: Jul 7 2009, 01:10 PM |

The date on the cheque must be either the same day or earlier before being accepted for processing. And say if you put e.g. the next days date, odds are good that your cheque will be put aside and not processed and you are not informed of the non-acceptance.This post has been edited by charymsylyn: Jul 7 2009, 01:16 PM |
