Just to clarify:

5x Membership Rewards points for every Ringgit spent on groceries, petrol, bookstores - Kinokuniya, Borders, Times and MPH - and telco charges via Express Autopay - Celcom, Digi, Maxis and Telekom.

2x Membership Rewards points for all spend elsewhere.

Which has more value for money in terms of redemption? I currently have a Maybank Amex Gold Card which gives a standard 2X TreatPoints across but am thinking of applying for the newly launched card which gives MR points instead.

If Membership Rewards points have a higher redemption points structure, then I might as well keep to my current card.

By the way, what is IMHO?
Thank you.

IMHO = In my honest opinion.
Sorry coz you did not reveal your card type ... so difficult to guess what is your possible range. Next best choice would be Alliance Bank's cash back cards.

I doubt a member reward point from Bank A has the same value as from Bank B. So I think comparison of reward point from different bank is meaningless.

YES, these are the highest range cards by Visa/Master

As far as Visa is concerned, the signature cards were introduced in the US many years back and then replaced by the Infinite cards, which was supposedly a credit cum charge card. Signature cards on the other hand was supposed to be a co-branded card with prominant brand partners but now since overshadowed by the infinite cards.

World Mastercard is Master Card's version of the Visa Infinite while the Elite Version was supposedly a one up-manship. Closest version in M'sia would be the CIMB Enrich World Mastercard.

Guess its not how it looks but what it stands for that counts tongue.gif

Not Public Bank. And Public Bank still have the lowest NPL in the country now  rclxms.gif  No. I do not work for Public Bank nor am i a shareholder  laugh.gif
*
It's challenging for banks to reduce NPLs given weak economic climate. All commercial banks have felt the pressure since early this year or end of last year and predicted their NPL ratios will climb in the 2nd half. Due to tighter loan policies and better management (probably), PBB being the exception of facing a surge in NPLs. These factors have reflected in its share price, which is still holding steadily compared to peers. Maintaining high loan quality seems to be a big task but most analysts view PBB as the best positioned bank in M'sia.

Well, that's why we don't really see much of these cards yet. Maybe when they reduce the entry requirements ........ hmm.gif

However, we won't go so far as to label anyone a showoff as these cards does have their purposes in life. Eg. if you are to stay in the Burj Dubai for say a week, the bill can exceed RM100K, so its highly unlikely that a normal plat card will be able to manage such, not withstanding other travel charges such as air fare, transportations, shopping etc

I usually redeem for shopping vouchers using Treatpoints (TP)/Membership Rewards (MR). MR is very competitive. I can redeem a RM100 voucher with as low as 15500 MR points. But i usually redeem for Borders vouchers which require 17000 MR points.

The room at Burj Al Arab is not that expensive lah tongue.gif But if one orders caviar everytime, big fish, lots of alcohol every time he/she dines there then yes, the bill might rack up to RM100k laugh.gif

David83 did post the link last week, see post 365 in this thread. DA MC gets rebate at all petrol stations and DA Visa gets rebates at Giant and Tesco. For your easy reference, click on link below provided by David83:

i believe there is no such need to inform the bank that you are going overseas , i never called my bank for this and i never had any problem so far using my card anywhere in the world. However informing the bank does a little help that if you are going to use a large part of your CL overseas , bank will call and roaming in foreign network sometime will not easily get into the line, the worst part is if they " hold " the transaction for suspected fraud case. Anyway informing the bank before you leave won't do any harm right ? icon_idea.gif

You seem to contradict yourself..... Best to call the bank to let them know of your whereabout in case you are using CC.
