Just cancel the card you don't need. You have the right to do so.
Yes, it's awesome. But the promotion period is too short, and it does have a max payout pool.
*
take note.. If there is a max payout pool... then i consider that as a 'trap'.
the bank can say the max pool already reached within few days....and the subsequent days transactions can't get the rebate.

there is no way the customers can verify the status of the payout pool.

To me, I think is more on you applied for plat, but they give you 2x gold. If plat not approved, the bank should call to counter-offer with the gold. Not direct issue to you. I think this should apply to all banks, not just the one you mentioned.

This HSBC Amanah Platinum VISA will give you 5% cash back on every fifth transaction only, otherwise it is 0.5% cash back.

I think what happens is that the agent made that "decision" for him. I think the bank would have the courtesy to call but normally in such cases they will refer to the agent to handle it. My own HSBC cc agent would not do this (I still maintain good relationship with the guy) and of the many agents that I apply my cc with I always specifically tell the person to follow exactly what I want or I shall not hesitate to cancel my card application. (I did not do this with a threathening tone)

No need to be nasty or what ... just take it as a learning lesson. Always do your own research on the cc product before you apply and don't blindly trust the agent. You are partly to blame for your own greed ... remember the carrot for you was the 5% cash rebate in which the information was unfortunately misrepresented to you.

End of this month I can't get my kicks anymore .... whenever I come across a cc agent who tells me I can get 2% or 5% petrol rebate ... I said "Mine is 7% rebate ... beat that and I'll sign up for your card". Of course they will try again and then say "You can also get 5% rebate @ Tesco" and I said "Mine is 5% rebate all hypermarket all day long".

The face on their face is priceless .... and once they pull me over and ask me how to apply this card. (And it was a cute girl asking me!) laugh.gif

Yes, if you feel that the cards don't give you much benefit, you should cancel them asap. You just need to be more alert when dealing with agents and CS staff next time. In fact, you can always browse through this thread as it is indeed very informative. Most forummers here are willing to share their real personal experience, except for minority who try to influence others because of personal interest and benefit. Overall, we should feel lucky as forummers here help do research and homework for each other! tongue.gif

HSBC Visa or Master better? Im thinking to retain which one. Visa seems to be abit plain on design.

What ? Thought HSBC Classic/Gold VISA/Mastercard are identical in design ? Or you are talking about HSBC Amanah VISA ?

By the way guys, CIMB Bank has introduced VISA Infinite yesterday. It will give cash rebate instead of point. 0.5% for local spending and 1% for overseas spending. This is nothing special really as it is identical to HSBC Amanah Platinum VISA.

Hm... going to request it from CIMB today biggrin.gif , the good thing is CIMB still maintain free for life condition for this cards, looks like CIMB are working hard to grabs the market share of high-end cards in malaysia , better compared with SCB which is RM 800 AF .

I think to be fair, looking at the benefits offered by SCB to their infinite cardholders to that by CIMB, its very worthwhile, especially if you do make use of them. The CIMB infinite, like their Worldcard offerings are in some ways not even equivalent to Plat cards offered by most banks. I mean, its equal to how you would feel about holding UOB's One Platinum, which is basically free as well, right? tongue.gif

Well, as compared with SCB Visa Infinite, the new CIMB Visa Infinite is nothing to shout about. It may look attractive to those die-hard golfers. It does not offer free access to worldwide plaza premium lounge? The 0.5% cash rebate on local retail transaction is marginal. However, the strongest selling point is free for life. Btw, has anybody here managed to get AF waiver for SCB Visa Infinite?
