Credit limit doesn't signifies ones success, the type of card does. Credit limit only allows you to spend more, no use if your classic card is given 100k limit and you can't pay the dues.

People will hold your card when you pay for something and you will not be asked the credit limit.
People will not see it, people will respect if you got Plat and above in Malaysia. Got it?

Not to say showoff because some people have Plat being sub for them but couldn't spend any because of the payer doesn't allow so. You don't simply downgrade for no reason. Primary reason is I believe that you have not met payments in a good fashion or you don't want to be potrayed as a richer society image.

For me downgrade from gold to classic for example in the same bank is not neccesary. Better to apply classic from a different bank to keep a good record.

Walking backwards means that you pokai liao, cannot payback and owe people a lot of money, so have to downgrade. Tak faham ke ni? Lu Pikiah La Sendiri !

I know a big boss for a auto workshop in Penang. He is worth I think a few millions. But he only cycling to coffee shop everyday.

Different sea different fish. Enjoy life and make the money worth. Just maybe he feels comfortable to cycle and not to make people rob him. Or simple he is used to be low profile lifestyled. Family background also a factor. Or just he wanted to save money for his next gen.

I basically don't believe any bank will give CL of 100k to anyone's salary is below rm20-30k per mth. The card holder can choose whether to take Classic, Gold, Plat or Worldcard/Infinite, but to get such high CL they must be something worth for the bank to approve. Bank's risk calculation wont give someone high CL if their income is insufficient. Most of the forumers here hold Plat but i think very few can get high CL for let say above RM50k from bank (definitely inc me). So I would say CL is more precious than Card's type. Unless the Black card, it doesn't need to explain any further! notworthy.gif

Credit Limit is not that important because a person can hold a few credit card and yet combined to be higher CL for him. For example have 3 cards from MBB, HLB and SC, all CL is 30k, then is 90k all togehter.

If get too high CL also have to pay the bank if spent. Most of the banks also give free for life, swipes for Free AF waiver. Aiya, just agree with moderate 25k CL enough for many thing liao. So high for what? If spent 30k also cannot pay back to the bank, what for?

The most important is not CL or CC type......the most...most important is the ability to pay what you spent without kena finance charges. That's will be the HERO. Hold Black Card also no use if kena interest and cannot pay the bank back the full amount and risks being bankcrupt.

Card type is the only think merchants can see to show the status, right ?
CL is consider P&C info similar to salary.

I think Merchants won't know the CL limit. They only know the card is able to pay for the bill. So when the card explodes when being swiped then the CL is breach or card banned. Time to call Card Center to increase CL amount.

Salary is a higher level personal than CL. I not sure and wonder anyone could answer this question.

HEY!  We aren't suppose to reveal TOO much personal stuff and U indirectly did!! sad.gif

@zazaza2009,
Fraud does happen but when tracked and if U can proof U haven't lost your card U should be fine.  It's a different scenario altogether for lost/stolen CCs hence U got to be a little careful where U keep ur Cards.

@taxpayer,
Hmm.. looks like we have another high roller here; if U want to put in application for the SCB Visa Infinite then go ahead but seriously do U need so many CCs?

Well I dont think i am going to apply after all. I am beginning to have some doubts as my age might be an issue to them (didnt think about that previously). I am in my mid 20'.

I guess it really depends what U define as exclusive.  Super rich people really don't care what card they hold, seriously!
Totally agree with you. Those rich kids live in uptown New York all mostly are holding just a regular Platinum card. Even Kim Kardashian is holding just a Gold AMEX Charge Card smile.gif

QUOTE(changjie83 @ Jul 17 2009, 10:41 AM)
does they actually check how much saving person have? since account number is provided to them.
*
Maybank and AMEX always request for this information but when i helped my mom to apply her credit card/charge card last year, we did not provide any information on her savings hold with another banks. She is not a Maybank customer either. Basically we just ignored their request for our banking information with other banks.

QUOTE(taxpayer @ Jul 17 2009, 11:30 AM)
Yes. my application for the visa platinum was approved on the basis of my Premier Master Card. I did not submit any documents. My pay is significantly below their requirement anyway and i wont qualify.

Thanks for the infomation. Good to know rclxms.gif

QUOTE(taxpayer @ Jul 17 2009, 11:30 AM)
Is platinum or premier master card the most exclusive card you can get from HSBC malaysia?
HSBC Premier is ranked higher than HSBC Platinum in HSBC system but both share the same privileges. Just different in status i guess. Locally issued HSBC Premier is NOT a World Mastercard, despite a World Mastercard is printed on it. HSBC World Premier Mastercard is only issued in Australia and USA, as far as i know. Believe HSBC Malaysia Premier Mastercard will officially become Premier World Mastercard eventually. Give them some time tongue.gif

@vampbreak,
Unlike some forummers, I'm really not chasing after the status of the Black card hence makes no difference to me.  I did spend USD250k last year but I wasn't able to swipe everything I purchased hence it's not reflected in my CC statements tongue.gif

I rather be using my time to chase after either more $ or men! muAhaHAHah *cruel laugh*

So who's the 2nd Centurion holder here?!  He / She is certainly doing well to keep a low profile biggrin.gif
*
Nah…you are the one who always revealed your personal stuff in CC and Amex threads. I only remembered what you have said before. I can’t be penalised for having a good memory, right? Just kidding….hehehe biggrin.gif Anyway, we shall call it a day on this issue.

It doesn't matter whether you are too young or not, the bank will give you approval so long as you meet the income eligibility. Good luck! tongue.gif

If you got the money in the bank(s), any card also they can give you. Even BC also will be invited if you are famous and rich enough. If a commoner apply for something big, then bank consider that, this, tut, tat and finally the manager will decide.

Unlike you, I don't use my Black Card for show off! wink.gif So leave my Black Card alone and continue on the topic. Beside, centurion is charge card and not credit. We discuss about credit card here..

Different people looks for different thing in a card. For me, the most important are:
1. No annual fees.
2. I hated reward points. Just give me some of my money back aka rebates. Nothing feel better than cool cash cool2.gif

My credit card was fraud during the month of May. When through a lot of hassle as most of my time I am not in Malaysia. As once the credit card acc is freeze and close, u can no longer see it in the online banking and thus it's hard to fill the dispute forms. Don't know what's wrong with the fax system as after 3 days of calling for the fax baru lah nampak bayang... hahahaha....
finally manage to settle the dispute and took my new card last month during my trip back to bolehland.....

**take note** ppl traveling to Sri Lanka, pls becareful of your credit card, as i am not sure how on earth my card got fraud!! I had only used it in 2 mainstream hotels and 2 international airline offices for the entired 3 months stay(also one transaction at Maldives)...
as most of my colleagues encounter this credit fraud in Sri Lanka...
