QUOTE(cruel_boy @ May 3 2009, 08:00 PM) haha... well, i booked a ticket for my friend using my credit card two times and surprisingly, they didn't ask for those 2 item above. But just prepared. Who know suddenly his/her mood is not good then they ask for the copy. They just want to clarify the ticket and credit card. That's it.. No big fuss about itanyway, i proceed with the booking already. i had to use my bro's card coz mine it keeps on rejecting.. dunno why. btw, in the ienery that was emailed to me... it was mentioned that are they strict on this? Added on May 25, 2009, 1:49 amHURRY HURRY.Booked a ticket today cause MAS having a lowest fair start today(that's what they said la.Havent compare to any airlines yet)...So,what are u waiting for? I had sent an email to MAS asking something about IFE in new ordered (not leasted) 737-800. They reply and stated that there will be "state-of-the-art" in flight entertainment system. I accidentally deleted the email.
Does anybody know what it means by "state-of-the-art"? |

I want to highlight that I bought tickets to Paris during their MAS fair in February/09 for travel in September/09. The travel period is also limited to a certain travel period. The terms required me to pay in full upfront and the terms of the ticket cannot be changed and there is no refund.
Now, 3 months later, in the latest MAS promotion, they are selling the same tickets (for the same travel period) for 30% less (no kidding) and I haven't even flown yet. I understand their need to sell tickets but not at the expense of ripping their commited customers (i.e. offering lower priced tickets for the same travel period. They should have offered the cheaper tickets for different travel periods to avoid clashing with previous offers). Or they could have compensated commited customers with a rebate. They have failed to protect their customers and do not seem to care who they step on to survive. Another case of bad management. I wrote to them and they seem to blame the agents for overbooking and cancellation and hence they need to sell the tickets now. Hello, what about their customers?! I think it is a sales gimmick where they seem to offer you cheap tickets at one point in time, forcing people to commit to buy early and pay for them and lock you into their terms and conditions. Word of advice is not to book your tickets in advance as the idea of booking early to save on ticket prices does not apply with MAS. The later the better as prices on MAS fares declines overtime. Has anyone else experience this? |

I have booked with Air Asia and I have seen prices rising as it reached the travel date. But 30% drop for MAS in 3 months?! That is RM800 for each ticket! Why do we assume it is their demand, why didn't they offer it for cheaper earlier on. That means they are indirectly telling people that they are overcharging but now can offer lower in order to sell more. And they are boldly advertising in the papers now "Everyday Low Fares". I think this is very misleading to the public.

i'm guessing it's all about being competitive.
SIA recently dropped their price to RM2600 return ticket for those traveling in pairs for destinations from KL/SG to london & paris.... Summore its on their new A380 fleet. |

Is this a problem?????
If you book a full fare ticket and find out there is a cheaper full fare now, i have no comment. But to grab a cheap promo ticket, it's about timing and opportunity, if you want to secure it early, you should expect there might be cheaper option later. After all, I think we buy the promo ticket when we think the price is ok for us. I don't see any problem le. |

The travel period is also limited to a certain travel period. The terms required me to pay in full upfront and the terms of the ticket cannot be changed and there is no refund. i also encounter this problem with MAS and AA before. I was really pissed off but now, i wont booked any flight ticket within 3 month. Maybe I will book 1 month before i depart. The competition is quite strong between AA and MAS. So, they will drop the price like a mad man. I booked a ticket for my aunt 2 month before departure through internet and paid RM2600. But 1 month before departure I checked the price drop ridiculously. Its only RM1900 at that time. I was really pissed off because that time when i bought my aunt ticket, its the promo price. Plus, MAS now have many option. I just booked a ticket from Langkawi to Kul with price RM78 with a "Grab A Deal" but when I tried to check for a normal booking (not grab a deal), its stated RM192.. wow.. so much different. Now, 3 months later, in the latest MAS promotion, they are selling the same tickets (for the same travel period) for 30% less (no kidding) and I haven't even flown yet. This case not only happen to MAS, but also happen to AirAsia. I never book an AirAsia flight for myself, but always help my aunt and uncle to book MAS & AirAsia flights, as they don't know how to use computer. Last time, My aunt and her husband asked me to help them book AirAsia flight. I forgot the total price. But, not long later AirAsia come out with RM0 fare promotion, then my aunt and uncle feel regret. Now, 3 months later, in the latest MAS promotion, they are selling the same tickets (for the same travel period) for 30% less (no kidding) and I haven't even flown yet. Has anyone else experience this? Sorry for out of topic. But, what I can say is, it really depends on our luck. And, now MAS not only offer "grab-a-deal", but also "Weekend Special" promotion some weeks, and this "Weekend Special" promotion start Saturday and end Sunday. |

I think competition is fair, but not by offering cheaper fares on same terms to new clients on the pretext of competition and screwing your past customers (especially since I have not even flown yet) is not a smart move. You gain new customers but at the expense of customers who paid more is bad management.
I understand the simple Malaysian mentality of cheaper is better and competition is good. I won't have minded if I had already flown but I have NOT flown yet and they are offering lower prices for the same travel periods to new customers. Metaphorically, if I buy a clothing now and paid full price, I have the advantage of using it right away and later it goes on discount, I won't care as I already enjoyed wearing it ahead of every one else. But in this case I have not even flown yet and they continue dropping the prices and conveniently locking me into their terms and conditions. This I think is not good practice. I will definitely think twice of booking with MAS in future given their lack of principles in taking care of their customers. MAS has poor principles in taking care of their customers here. |

You gain new customers but at the expense of customers who paid more is bad management. well, I think u shouldn't blame MAS only because AA also have the same strategy as MAS. I know how you feel because I, myself encounter this thing many times. What's in our mind at that time is "must book early if not won't get this price" and also the ad showing "book early to get a cheaper price" make all of us think the same way. As an Enrich member, sometimes I get really frustrated when my point didn't count when I booked a cheapest fair. Other that that I think its okay since the service is good and safety is what I really want when I travel.I understand the simple Malaysian mentality of cheaper is better and competition is good. For the benefit of everyone here, this is a statement I just found out which is extracted from MAS's website just minutes ago:
"With MHlow and MHbasic, you can be certain that you’ll be getting the cheapest fares available on our flights. How much you save depends on how far in advance you plan your travel or vacation" Check it out here: http://www.malaysiaairlines.com/my/en/bkin...valuefares.aspx I am sure they will change this statement as soon as they find out. I will bring this up to the National Centre for Customer Complaints. This post has been edited by m88: Jun 5 2009, 02:14 PM |

QUOTE(cshong @ May 17 2009, 08:46 PM) Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to ask a question here. Today, my uncle asked me to help him book a Malaysia Airlines domestic flight. It is RM0 fare promotion. The ticket was booked and paid by using my uncle's credit card. During the confirmation, I saw the following: For no. 2, what type of photo need to be bring for check-in? Is it necessary to be passport sized? And, during the booking process, MAS booking website does not ask for passport / IC number. Will there be any problem? QUOTE(K-LY @ May 20 2009, 11:42 AM) i think u just have to make sure ur uncle bring along his credit card while he claim his ticket in ticket counter for verification and make sure a passport sized of his photos is present, dont be so worry bout it coz he paid it and his database are reachable by MAS ticketing I did a quick scan of the replies and didn't see your question directly answered (I may have missed it, if so then nvm), so here's my answer:They don't want photo, they ask for photo ID which means any form of official identification document with the passenger's photograph on it. Such as NRIC, Passport, or Driver's Licence. |
