The price of oil has dropped but why MAS still keep the oil surcharge so high???

I check to fly KL to China and it cost $2000 with MAS and only $900 with Air Asia

Air Asia LLCT airport is lousy but for the cheaper fare I am willing to suffer and fly Air Asia instead!

MAS has hedged 40% of its fuel at 102$ so they will have to impose surcharge to cover for the fuel hedge.

Remember AirAsia declaring a lost of somewhat 400+million for the previous quarter? Part of it is because they discontinued the fuel hedge, and as a result they need to pay a big portion of money in lieu.. So now AirAsia buys fuel according to the market price while MAS has to get most of its fuel at the hedged price. That is why AirAsia is surchargeless.

They are still checking on which routes and to ascertain on the global oil price before deciding.. Anyway I doubt that they will actually remove the fuel surcharge, though..

This thread is created for discussion of Malaysia Airlines.

I'm satisfied with MAS's service. They are good.

But, I found a problem for booking MAS flight through their website.

The problem is that, if I search for two-ways (including return) flights, the website give me cheap price (including tax). But, when I search for one-way ticket, the price are more expensive then the two-way ticket. Do you realize that?

For example, look at the following screenshots.

When I try to search for KL <--> London (including return) flights, they give me RM3xxx.

After just a few seconds, I try to search for KL -> London (one-way) flight, they also give me RM3xxx but is more higher than the two-ways.

It is impossible that the cheap fares are sold in just a few seconds.

Does anyone of you experience this?

this is what you have to know. In every airlines(probably as far as i know), if you want to buy a ticket, the return ticket is way more cheaper than a single way ticket. This is common

I just want to complaint about their food.economy food is quite bad from last time. Plus, some of the local stewardess looks like they dont want to layan you compare to the the crew that they hire from other country like japan, italy and buenos aires. really arse hole la our local crew

If this is true, and if I were you, I will file a complain, seriously. Because I don't want to give a chance for a racist foreigner to look down we Malaysian just because of this.

The RM3847, which including return, is already cheap for a premier airline. The reason I search for one-way ticket is because I want to fly back to Malaysia through other country other than UK. I thinkMAS should provide multi-city booking on their website.

If I want to book MAS ticket to London, and then the return MAS flight will depart in Paris, how can I book such ticket? There is no multi-city booking on their website.
