Thanks hye for your feedback. Guess it will be safer to cancel CC 1-2 months before it reach 1 year.
Haha I know, just that I want to know what will happen if i really forget smile.gif
Anyway I will cancel 3 of my CC after I managed to swipe them few times. (its a challenge for me to use other CCs now sweat.gif)
Thanks RockIron. Do you know how many transaction we need in order not to have bad record?

Alliance bank customer support ask me to swipe my gold card at least 12x per year to enjoy yearly fee waive while on that particular year while EON bank ask me to swipe my platinum card 24x per year for a yearly fee waive irregardless of what amount. Does other bank also moving to this direction as well for a yearly fee waiver?

I got irritated by Allianz bank. What happened was i submitted my application form, with my 3 months of pay slip (till march) and my EPF statement for 2008.

I rec a call from Allianz asking me to submit my EA form as the figure appears on my salary slip and  EPF statement do not correspond.  I gave them a lecture saying that of course, the figure cannot be telly as the EPF statement is for 2008 and payslips is till 2009.

By looking at my salary, is sure that i can get at least a gold card.  so i told them is fine. i dont want it.

Aiyoh ... why need to be stressed out ? This a perfect example of CS. If you think they can't deliver, just walk out of the deal. Need not scold anyone because that person is just doing his/her job and worse still may not even be his/her fault. I saw this with my own eyes many years back with a particular bank - CS was trying to help customer but the so called 'supervisor' told the CS to tell the customer to f*** off. (Note: did not use the actual words but the whole solution was equal to that) CS get scolded for nothing.

Now whose fault do you think it is ? CS ?

Better I think if you share your experiences in this forum. Eventually everyone will know and will shy away from the bank. Isn't this much more meaningful ? E.g I have mentioned my experience with AEON cc but I still see people applying for the card at the malls.

Simple answer ... different banks have different promos. The banks which you just mentioned provide conditional AF waivers and there are banks which provides unconditional waivers. And of course AF waivers which you need to call in.

The market is moving towards AF free trends but you still need to be a good customer. You can't just ask for AF waivers but you are the fiends of the banks ... should be understandable if the bank says no to AF if you are never their good customer ?

Pretty sure you meant Alliance Bank instead of Allianz Bank. We do have Allianz Insuranse from Germany here in Malaysia though biggrin.gif

Someone did mention HSBC will automatically waive the annual fee provided you have swiped the card at least 12 times in the last calender year. It is not written anywhere nor in their own website. So i'm not sure how true that is.

If you ask the HSBC agents, they will tell you this. To a certain aspect it is true but it depends on which promo code you sign up with. *Hint* Remember to ask the HSBC agent what promo code he/she is signing you up.

BTW ... some banks they will never publish this info on the website and HSBC is one of them. This is to provide flexbility to the packages that they offer. E.g. I got a 5 yrs waiver on my HSBC card recently but not everyone will get it and nor it is written on the website as well.

Hi kuya,
I think EON bank platinum cc need to swipe 36 times instead of 24.
24 times only applicable for their gold cc.

Thanks for the feedback. Let say I have an unused CC, I forgot to cancel it after reached 1 year and bank already charged me annual fee. Do I still need to pay the fee if I cancel the card?
*
Depending on the bank, you can call the bank to reverse the fee. HSBC reverses the charges for me when I called them up after seeing the annual fee in my statement. They also said will waive the next 5 years' fee for me, and upgrade my card (never got the cards from them, but I don't really care about that). Once, they even reversed the penalty charged (RM100 I think) when I accidentally sent them an unsigned cheque as payment. Got some free stuff from them when I signed up last time and on my first birthday with them too (Ogawa massage pillow, Osim electric toothbrush). I love HSBC. Only thing I don't like is that their rewards points will expire. FYI, I seldom use my HSBC card, just a couple of auto-debit there.

I have question :

My cc limit was 10k. If I wanna use extra than that, any possible way? What happen if I pay extra 5k, then I can use 15k when I go vacation? I don't want to bring cash with me on my vacation.

i think you can call up your CC issuer and ask them to give you a temporary limit increase. Just tell them you are going overseas, give them the date of departure and limit required. No need to top up your account as most bank do provide this service by phone call only.

@Reventon,
I tried getting a temporary increase in CL from Citibank once upon a time as I was going in for a surgery and had wanted to pay off my medical fees through my Citibank CC but they refused to give me the temporary increase.

I've since gave up on asking banks to give me a temporary increase in CL. I did however get a RM20k temporary increase in CL from Amex last December smile.gif

tinkerbel,
maybe bank was a little more concern about the reason on requesting for the temporary limit increase. I've tried Mbb, Hsbc and Cimb before as at that time my CL is rather low . They just asked me where i am going and how much do i required and approved within the same day.

Same here, all it takes is one phone call but Citi, MbF, HLB & MBB used to be damn stingy per my experience smile.gif

Yes, you may do like that. But for me, since I have Savings a/c and CC from same bank, I swipe first until the CL is low (set your own limit), then I will make online payment to CC to get back the CL for tomorrow onwards purchase/spending. Although it is immediate payment, it is better to give about 24 hours for the cash payment. You don't want to get heaty about immediate 10 min payment ago, overseas call CS, bang table, get all upset.

Plan you expected purchase or large sum hotel checkout way in advance. e.g. If you think you are taking a tour to a diamond factory and you plan to buy something, clear up the CL first.

damn citibank rejected application...no reason given...no bad debts and over the salary requirements....wtf but BEWARE of roadside credit card salesmans...i checked my application status on phone i found out i applied for 2 times in 2009 and 1 more dated back in October BUT I DID NOT APPLIED ANY CITIBANK CARD IN OCTOBER 2008 AND PREVIOUS 2009. Must be those salesmans they will keep ur documents & details if u got rejected previously. They will sneakingly RESUBMITTING your application to hit their sales target. That is why someone here mentioned before applied a card long time ago did not approved then suddenly received a card from them. It is the salesman keep on resubmitting on your behalf without u knowing. It will tarnish the record or give a bad impression of too many times appllying card omgggg

I just call them up tell what you said earlier but their call centre said no such thing for MBB hence they cant provide that facilities to me.

Actually hotel payment itself over my limit. So I guess the solution is to swipe 2 card when paying, is it right? Do they accept for swiping 2 cards to pay one bill?

Why the call centre answer different from your experience? Should I call them up again perhaps other people who know more about this?
