QUOTE(mzaidi @ May 30 2009, 07:27 PM) Guys, I'm thinking of applying for my first credit card soon. Any bank that you guys can suggest that are easy to get the CC's application approved? Submit EPF and income tax form & receipt together with ur pay check will increase your chance for the first time application Cimb , Ambank , MBF and EON CC are few of the list which is much more easier to obtain at the moment. Good luck

Only newly approved one. I received mine back in February Maybank staff did approach me for the card. But I didn't apply as I really don't need so many cards. Anyhow, I was informed I need to charge the card for at least RM50 within the 1st month upon receipt of the card in order to be given the free laptop bag. Btw, what's the brand of the bag??? I look forward to CIMB promotion giving away free travelling luggage for newly approved Plat card. This post has been edited by winner: May 31 2009, 10:24 AM

Getting Started

|
I have questions here. I have 5 cards and I have problem to pay all 5 cards together by end of month. This is because the amount i split for 5 cards is minimum and I will take quite sometime to settle the full amount.
I'm wonder if i'm settle for 2 cards which it would take more faster time and left the 3 cards for another month of payment. How the credit card company will charge me.
Of course i'm will stop spending for the 3 cards. As usual monthy interest will be charge accordingly. How they will calculate for late payment. Is it charge one month one time and what is the rate they applying? Is it allowe to do such a way? At the moment this is the best solution I can think of. I'm need your kind advice.

My best advise would be to consolidate your debt. Use Balance Transfer to transfer outstanding debts from 2-3 cards into the remaining cards and cut the remaining of the cards. Interest should be lower for BTs. A word of warning ... do not use the card that you use to balance transfer into as your retail/regular use. It is a long story but don't ever use it anymore for retail transaction. You should now only use 1 card for regular use. Alternatively, take a personal loan and take a short term debt position ... like 9-12 months only. And cut your cards into just 1 or 2. Looks like you are living beyond your means my friend. Better change your spending habits now or you will live a life of eternal cc debt.

Guys,
I'm filling up an application form. They're asking about my gross annual salary. Can someone teach me how to calculate that?
Is it Basic Salary x 12 or (Basic Salary + Allowance) x 12 or (Basic Salary + Allowance + OT) x 12?
Checked my payslip, and my company included Basic Salary + Allowance + OT in their gross salary calculation, but some of my friends asked me not to include OT since it's not a consistent / fixed amount.

That's correct ... your OT is not fixed amount so it shouldn't be part of the calculation. Same goes for your allowance.

@mzaidi, Yes that's right. If your allowance is a fixed allowance you should be able to include that in @MilesAndMore, I can't find the information about the free laptop for new approved Amex applications. This post has been edited by tinkerbel: May 31 2009, 02:34 PM

QUOTE(cute_boboi @ Mar 4 2009, 10:57 AM) True, I'm using MBB Petronas Visa and Petronas fuel for 5x TP. If it ends, I'm going back to Amex CC + Esso/Mobil + Smiles points. Not that I'm aware of any HSBC CC free for life, unless you have some home loan or big deposits there for their premier/platinum member. The best I got from HSBC is earlier this year 5 yrs free waiver offer. But their points are not ever-green. My HSBC C automatic waive my annual this year but i didn't call up to ask why maybe is the amount of usage high gua so they waive for me liao Oh yah which CC to recommend for me as i need the one which got rebate petrol?

GHz, I don't really need a free laptop bag; still have about 2 brand new unused ones kept away but I do need the Gold Amex card *grins* oK.. I'll just get my application filled in. RM50 in the first month isn't too difficult to spend; 1 petrol swipe would do the trick

This apply to the VISA Platinum credit card as well.

@MilesAndMore, Thanks! I didn't go into the application form; and the information is there! *grrrr* hMm.. the bag does look quite nice, but nothing compares to my good ol Crumpler @Reventon, I'm just too far off the RM190,000 p/annum figure and the only reason I'm switching to the Gold Charge Card is because I don't want to incur the RM800 AF !!! G.. I just read... the Gold Charge card requires RM148,000 p/annum. I don't even qualify for that card !!! hAHahAHhaHAa... but am going to put in my application anyways This post has been edited by tinkerbel: May 31 2009, 06:56 PM
