Sweet, gonna check these places out.

Thanks guys! Would love to be training with you jamis but that place is too expensive for my short term stay!

Added on July 5, 2009, 2:13 am@Lynx: Is it easy to find? I can't find any info online. I believe the place is Seksyen 13? Got an address or number I can use?

Cheers.

Aren't you supposed to work the grip if your poundages can't handle them anymore? I think going on straps is a last resort. Many trainees here haven't explored their maximum potential just yet.

@Jonyeap.

You should sleep sideways then if sleeping flat on your back hurts. It worked for me.

I have no problem with my grip for normal deadlift. It happens when i perform the wide grip version. Couldn't complete 5 reps without pausing.

Yep, its in Section 13. Getting there is pretty straightforeward, its actually inside one of UTAR's campus blocks (the one directly opposite the Bosch factory, Block C) so if you know how to get to UTAR then there won't be a problem finding the place.

REYZAI also mentioned the place here.

Address:
Heritage Sports Centre
2nd Floor,
No. 3, Jalan 13/6,
Petaling Jaya, Selangor 46200

Google Map directions from Federal Highway.

Do you guys know where I can find chalk for weightlifting?

We have it but we're all the way down south. However, if you go to 1U the climbing place there or to Pushmore, you can ask them where they get their supplies. Pushmore's one is slightly more ....how should I say, it doesn't crumble that much.

Good luck. Don't hurt anything. Nowadays my coach does tissue massage and cracking my joints. It's giving my back and thighs a much better time.

It works but it always misses a few spots that are really deep. Then people suggest tennis ball. However, the best is still a human leg, elbow, knees and hands.

The thumb of a professional is always better mah.

Perhaps I should try some Chinese massage here.
Pizzaboy, remember what your coach said about the hair saloon parlours in Wenzhou?

injuries are part n parcel of any training, sticky on this anyone?

injury- lower back injury (oh nooo my squat.... just when im progressing.. sigh)
what can you do while one wait for it to recover?

-any lower body movement is a pain to to the lower back
-no bending, standing up to walk can be a pain
- seated calf raise is a maybe

im thinking arm training, but nothing heavy that involves stabilizing the DB
certain shoulders, bi, tri, traps, forearms routine

Partial isometrics sounds like an idea. hmm.gif

I'm goin for a talk by Dr. Yang Jingzhen from Uni of Iowa about sports injury prevention. Then we've got a Malaysian, Dato. Dr Ramlan about sports injuries and management of the injuries. Maybe then I'll know better

Try front squats. (But it's even more technical than the back squat, and you risk killing yourself if you do it wrong.)

Ach. I suspected it would have to be a special order track-down-the-supplier thing.

Sudden increase in blood pressure due to exertion.

Drink more water all the time, and go do a medical check ASAP.

You don't want to get a stroke halfway through squatting.
