QUOTE(ebernie @ Sep 13 2008, 06:45 PM) Yeah, it's the 18-105VR f3.5-5.6. It's a good starter lens (replacing the 18-135 methinks). Thanks mate... not out yet still waiting. I've ignored the D40x and D60 and will continue to ignore this D60 special edition lol. But I bet their target buyers are new DSLR users, not us. Oh, congrats on your baby, Darthbaboon. A good time to have a DSLR for you then. Are you considering upgrading too? What would be your motivation or reason for upgrading? |

QUOTE(ifer @ Sep 13 2008, 08:54 AM) i think someone is 'sour grapes' of other someone who can afford awesome equipments. i think this other someone need to grow up QUOTE(orenzai @ Sep 13 2008, 12:01 PM) actually... my interpretation of what joseph is trying to say it that yr nor maximising/fully utilizing yr gears that other peole dun have so he wants you to appreciate it... but then... since you stated in the later posts that you just took up photography for fun and because you bought it because you just liked and can afford it, then i guess theres nothing more to argue about... Yes i'm jealous. The world is cruel. Those with great skills uses low end camera. Those with high end camera just owns the camera for the sake of bragging. I myself is underutilising my D300. Thinking of downgrading to D90 lol. But i'll take your advice xandman. I'll work hard but i'll probably spend the money elsewhere. To be honest i was just making fun of you cause you didn't have a clue that the D300 have an ISO button. It's so obvious that it's up there. But I had my fun shooting you so i'll stop trolling. Lastly i dedicate this to whoever relevant. ![]() |

QUOTE(darthbaboon @ Sep 13 2008, 10:59 PM) Thanks mate... not out yet still waiting. Motivation to upgrade? Mostly the high ISO performance, bigger viewfinder, more auto-focus points, 3" high-res LCD, motor-in body. And the fact that my gf might want to pick up my D40 for her own use. But, frankly speaking, I'm not sure I wanna spend 4.5k on it. For that kind of money, I'll get a 2nd hand D300 (body only). Are you considering upgrading too? What would be your motivation or reason for upgrading? Ultimately, it's just a dream for now. Money is an issue. == Btw, I'm selling off my 18-200 Sigma. Planning to snatch a new lens. Maybe a 17-50 tamron. |

QUOTE(zio @ Sep 13 2008, 04:06 PM) With respect to xandman and Joseph, both which I have met and befriended, please just take your personal battles outside of the forum. If you two feel that you need to reply to each other, take it into the PMs. with tight budget, im thinking to buy sigma 70-200 f2.8 for wedding shoots purpose. n i think its okay for me, unless nikkor 70-200 f2.8 VR price drops like hell if 70-200 VRII really comes out.. @dani_irwan as ebernie said, I prefer one with VR (or any equivalent) because it is a telephoto after all. If you think you won't be using at low-light conditions then its a good consideration. kelvin_yam has been using an equivalent lens from Sigma (I believe) to good effect with his wildlife and macro shots. @ebernie well the tamron does say Macro on the lens so I assume it offers the same capabilities as the Sigma. And wouldn't the D90 be the primary body? n i believe if we utilise the gadget to the max, that shud be no problem. some of my frens impressed that i can stil produce a good pictures (though i dun feel so QUOTE(darthbaboon @ Sep 13 2008, 05:21 PM) You forgot to add f3.5-5.6. d40 have child mode for ur upcoming baby.. And yes I am seriously considering switching to the D90 (I'd still like the D300 though), although the priority right now is to provide for my upcoming baby and wife. Photography gear upgrades take second priority. |

D90 will be most of the d40/x upgrade because its j7ust the best choice atm... for 4k, i think its reasonable...

hi guys, sorry if this sound cliche but I was looking for a cheap tele with macro capabilities. Should I get,
a) Sigma 70-300mm APO or b) Nikon 50-200mm VR + extension tube. Thanks for the advice. This post has been edited by NasiLemakMan: Sep 15 2008, 01:31 AM |

i would go for the option a) Sigma 70-300mm APO,
you may wanna look at tamron SP90mm (with nikon mount with AF motor). it gives u 1:1 macro, but u only get 90mm tele. This post has been edited by mindkiller6610: Sep 15 2008, 08:17 AM |
